Thai Cabin

I ordered the red curry chicken and it was flavorless and bland. I only got three chunks of chicken and the rest of the meal was soggy rice. I would not recommend this cart.

I had a few of their Thai dishes in the summertime when the food trucks pop up everywhere and I’m honestly a little surprised at all the negative reviews! Is it the most authentic Thai in town? Probably not, but for a food truck– I thought it was pretty darn tasty. I had their lettuce wraps and crab wontons and they were both delicious, although the lettuce wraps were a bit messy to eat.

How do you operate a Thai food truck and royally screw up veggie pad thai?! Took 2 bites of what was basically flavorless oil and threw it out.

Pretty good food if you want a quick lunch. The food was also nice.

I think… I think I might be turning into a thai snob. I have developed –opinons– and that can be very dangerous. The food here is all right, but it’s not very exciting and exciting is what I was looking for in my curry that day. It was lunch-​flavored and not unpleasant, but I could have had something more interesting.

I am a little surprised to see that the food truck thai is one of the highest rated thai places in Richmond. Have tried them several times, always feel pretty «meh» about it. Pad thai with tofu is one of my go-​to dishes at any thai place and this one is one of the worst i’ve had. The tofu usually tastes kinda old to me, which isn’t too surprising because its impossible to make anything fresh on the cart. I tried it x2, same both times. Sesame chicken? meh. Is there a different menu for when they are at Hardywood or the farmer’s market? Some of the things other people are Unilocaling about I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen offered at MCV.

While a lovely and efficient idea, the food is not anywhere near authentic Thai.

I wanted to get more but, I came too late. I didn’t realize that Thai Cabin was at the Food Truck Court event at Hardywood Park Brewery. When I did I had already stuffed myself with other stuff.
Here is what I did order. Nutella & Banana Wontons! Wontons that were wrapped around banana and flashed fried on the spot. There is Nutella that is one each wonton that and they coat it all with some cinnamon & sugar.
Wow! It was one of the highlights of the night. So much so that I am now plotting a trip to find them and try their lettuce wraps. I will update the review when I try that next. If you are craving a quick desert and you see Thai Cabin stop and get the Nutella & Banana Wontons!

I absolutely love Thai Cabin! They have a great (though small) menu. I had the Pad Thai w/​Tofu and Thai Iced Tea. The tofu was perfect; that is a good amount of Pad Thai for 5 bucks. My friend got Sesame chicken and she loved it. She just got back from Thailand and said even the smell of Thai Cabin reminded her of Thailand. Sounds good to me!
I can’t wait to go back.

Hands down the best cart in Richmond for more then one reason!!!
The food of coures is amazing but I will never forget how above and beyond they went last Friday at the Food Truck Court to make a customer happy.
After eating my phenomenal teriyaki chicken I was carrying my leftover around when the box slipped from my hand and landed on the ground. A man from Thai cabin ran over assuring me he would make me another box right away.
I could not help but notice how no other food cart would have even looked up. A small gesture made a sad situation far better.

Cheap, fast and really good. The best combination!

I love the Thai Cabin cart at 10^th and Main in Downtown Richmond. Price is great at $ 5.50. Food is consistently good. I get the panang gai or the crispy fish in panang sauce which is a special. Weekly specials are great for a change from getting the same thing every time. They are out in the cold which is great, too! I probably visit once every 2 weeks and it is great.

Thai Cabin always pulls through.
This lunch cart is awesome. A small menu done well makes it easy for most anyone to make a quick decision and then the food is quickly prepared and served in a great little plastic container that has a lid if you want to stop eating and savor it for later!
My favorite thing to order is the Panang Gai, a chicken and creamy curry sauce that has just the right flavor over brown rice. If your adventurous, ask for spicy sauce and tell them to load it up.
Also, if you like Pad Thai, they make a pretty good one other than the fact that it only comes with tofu which is not up my alley but when I went the second time and ordered it, the lady who was serving me offered to pick it out for me… that’s what I call good customer services and it will definitely keep me coming back for more!
They also have specials and I completely reccomend trying ANY of them because you can’t go wrong.
