The Apprentice Salon Training Clinic

I came here for a cut and color for the first time and was booked with Shannon. It’s pretty easy to get in an appointment since a lot of their customers are students and do walk ins. I’ve never had much luck with a stylist matching my roots since they are so dark, but Shannon did an amazing job. My hair looks great!

I have been a regular customer here at the Apprentice Salon since my Freshman year at VCU and I still am to this day even when I am well into my Graduate Program. They won me over the very first day when I came bursting in the front door begging them to fix my destroyed bangs (in which I tried to cut myself). Over the year, I tried other salons but the Apprentice always brought me back.
I love LOVE Michelle as my hair stylist! My hair is typical fine Asian hair and she cuts it better than any Asian hair stylists I have ever had. I have a particular cut I always go for and she cuts it perfectly each time, with little variations here and there WITHOUT making me look like a boy. She even tames my stubborn straight bangs! Her bubbly personality makes her fun to talk to as well (I’m an introvert so this is saying something). I also recommend Chelsea if you need highlight or color.
The price is amazing too. Master hair cut is $ 30 and partial highlight is only $ 50! Other places will charge you $ 40 for hair cut and $ 90 for highlight AT LEAST. You can choose other price levels like student and apprentice for less. Sadly, I will have to say good bye to the Apprentice when I graduate. But here hoping I will find another place as good as The Apprentice wherever I move to!

Great, friendly and knowledgeable place! Cody is excellent. He listened to exactly what I wanted and brought his professional knowledge to the table to an end result that was fabulous. I don’t recommend that many places… especially salons, but can’t help but recommend this place!
