Great Sailor sandwich. Chicken parmesan is kind of plain but well done. Service is not great, but okay. Really varied menu.

One of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Love the tasty, generously portioned, inventive menu offerings. Among my favorites: the popover Benedicts(especially the brisket) and lamb/goat cheese/kale French dip. Oh my. Tip: come here early for weekend brunch during the school year or you’ll be competing for seats with hordes of U of R students and their parents.

Mimosas were amazing… the brunch… Orgasmic. Large portions with affordable prices. Fun environment playing the latest hits. Our waiter was great too. I would highly recommend. We came on a Sunday for brunch. Young hip crowd but would be okay for families too. This is going on our return list.

Great service & food. We had the calamari as an app & it was a huge portion! Same with our entrees. We went all out because I had a gift card. Got a big salad, steak, pasta. One of my favorite spots for sure. Also recommend the club sandwich!

Loved the egg benedict popovers… feeling so amazingly satisfied!!! We just happened to chance upon this place, and were surprised to find that it’s pretty popular as there was a 45 minute wait. We thank our stars that we were able to find us a place at the bar just immediately after. Found our dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. «Highly recommended» would be quite an understatement.

The thing about The Continental is that it is consistently excellent. Big portions, and dishes which are properly executed in the kitchen with a fairly wide yet eclectic variety of menu items. My go to picks: lobster Niçoise salad, the slow-roasted pork, provolone and brocoletti sandwich, the lobster roll, burgers, Cobb salad and the club sandwich. Grab a spot outside and watch the action on Grove avenue. A quintessential Richmond spot that reminds us why we love this town, and that is always fun, entertaining and tasty!

OK this review is long overdue. We ate here 10÷31÷15, but somehow I forgot to check in(which is how I remember to write reviews). Anyway we were just talking about this place so I figured I would finally post the review. We met another couple here for breakfast. The prices are good, the food was great and the service was excellent!

This place is a gem. It’s not a corporate environment and it’s perfectly placed on the outskirts of University of Richmond. The food here is fantastic and the parking is sufficient. The environment is a phenomenal hangout for friends and family and the beer was cold. Great laid back environment that does not try to be to gourmet. They have burgers, sandwiches entrees beer and liquor. Great place!

Great spot for a low-key and quick dinner. Food is delicious! I ordered the spinach and feta pie which comes with a simple side salad. It tastes like spanakopita so if that’s your kind of meal, you should definitely order the pie! My friend ordered the chicken wings which had a sweet flavor to them, but very tasty. Our only complaint is that we ordered some fries to split, and they still were not out by the time we finished our meals so we had to cancel the order. Otherwise great spot for brunch or dinner, with delicious food!

We have been here before for brunch and decided to come here for dinner. Started off with lobster hushpuppies and i think that was the best thing i ate all night! So good and with good chunks of lobster in it. For dinner i had the cuba libre burger cooked with some pink. It came out cooked perfectly but was rather dry that i used ketchup to dip it in. Also the pork really didn’t have much flavor. But i still enjoyed it. The boyfriend got the Home Rune burger that had some kind of spicy bbq sauce on it i think, and he said it was really good too. The drinks we got were made well and it was just an overall good experience!

My husband and I eat here at least once a week. The service is always good and the food is consistent. I’ve had many different items on their menu and everything has always been cooked to perfection.

I came here for brunch with my former roommate who was visiting Richmond! It was one of her favorite Richmond brunch places, and she was surprised that I had never been! There was a little bit of a wait but our party of five was seated in about 15 minutes. Our waitress was super nice and friendly throughout the entire meal. The restaurant itself is fairly large(it extends back pretty deep) and has some covered outdoor seats as well. I ordered the Benedict Stockholm(popover with smoked salmon, poached eggs, hollandaise). There was some mix-up/misunderstanding with my order and they tried to bring me the beef brisket continental benedict, but I was fairly certain that I ordered the Stockholm(as my dining companions attested). However, they quickly corrected the error and the waitress felt terrible and kept apologizing profusely multiple times for the rest of the meal. I enjoyed my dish, but the popover was not as flaky as I had envisioned in my head. Our table also shared a mimosa pitcher, but they didn’t mix the pitcher that well before pouring into glasses and since mine was one of the first glasses poured, it was a little too much champagne: juice ratio for me. The meal was still good and I loved the atmosphere. And at less than $ 10 per benedict, definitely one of the more affordable brunch places in Richmond!

I’ve been going to The Continental for years and years. Their dirty chips are a cheese lover’s paradise, and the vodka limeades, originally made famous by their predecessor, are as delicious as they sound. The menu is packed, I mean PACKED, with delicious sounding things — most of which I’ve yet to try because there is just so much and I’m often a creature of habit — but I will tell you that even the brussels sprouts are good so that has to bode well for the rest of the menu. The true piece de resistence, for me, though, is their lobster roll. It’s the closest I’ve found in Richmond to a New England style lobster roll and it melts in your mouth. The Continental is a neighborhood style restaurant that has something for everyone; you’ll see families who live nearby, you’ll see girlfriends out for happy hour, you’ll see couples out on a date. There are dozens of other things I’d love to try on the menu if I can ever convince myself not to order the lobster roll.

I LOVE this place for lunch, happy hour drinks, and apps! On the app menu I have tried the baked goat cheese and honey, which is so simple but delicious. If you are craving salty snacking, the dirty chips were above average. A friend of mine ordered disco fries, but it just wasn’t my thing. Not saying their version was bad, but I like my fries crispy on the outside and minus gravy… always.(Sorry, I’m weird like that.) A negative was the lobster hushpuppies. I know. I was sad too. Combining a lobster and hushpuppies sounded amazing, but something went wrong. The hushpuppies were so cooked on the outside(borderline overcooked), but the inside tasted doughy. Maybe they were too big. I’m not sure. Not my fav though. What is my fav here? The black kale Caesar salad. It is huge. It comes with plenty of cheese and then they top it with large, crispy fried shrimp. On the side they also give you a side of spicy cornbread with salad. I order this every time I eat here, so I don’t know what to tell you about the rest of the entrees. Drink-wise? If you go there, you should try the vodka limeade. The limeade is made in house. You can’t beat it. A great happy hour or lazy Sunday afternoon spot(football games, drinks, and apps).

So I REALLY enjoyed my brunch here this past Sunday. Service was awesome. Prompt and friendly. Food was absolutely delicious. Couldn’t decide on just one thing to try, so I ended up ordering two. Kids size of the French Toast(and the server happily brought me a side of the berries and greek yogurt whipped cream that comes with the regular size) as well as 2 eggs over medium, sourdough toast and homefries. The homefries were delectable! Best I’ve had I think. Coffee was also pretty yummy(which I drink black, so I’m the real expert!). They have outdoor seating and outdoor fans, so even though I got there early-ish and it was heating up, the fans really helped to stay cooler. Absolutely returning to this gem in the near future!

I’ve been to the Continental several times over the years, and its been really good every time. But the best time I have ever had was when we went for brunch recently. Brunch is a favorite meal, so a good brunch can really make or break a restaurant for me. I absolutely loved the brunch at the Continental. True to form for the restaurant, it has a large menu. Sometimes this has been a downfall for me in regards to their dinner(there just SO much going on with the menu that it can be hard to make a decision). But they had a great variety of original options covering a large spectrum to meet anyone’s needs. We did have a long wait, but it was Mother’s Day weekend and to be expected. I have to get specific credit to the Bloody Mary. They give you three options: Regular, Spicy, and Dill. I got the Spicy and my husband got the Dill. Both were wonderful but the Spicy was AWESOME! Once we were done, another table gave us a tip to ask for a Spicy Dill next time, so I am looking forward to trying that!
