I’m here in Midlothian, Virginia for work so tonight we decided Mexican. We went to the Mexican place across from our hotel and they at the time were not serving alcohol… uh, I wanted a margarita obviously and so did my friend so we left and Unilocaled another Mexican place and that’s when we ended up here! When I say authentic Mexican, I meant au-then-tic! House chips and salsa with also some type of white dip, not queso, something like a sour cream, but it was good so try it. The salsa, SOGOOD, eat it. My friend and I both got margaritas, with salt, of course. They offered a whole bunch of varieties, as well as sizes, so we both got house ones, medium. If you’re looking to get wasted, come here because you will after two mediums. We were feeling them and he’s a bigger guy, and like, I’m tiny so it hit me kind of quick. Now, onto the food. Like any other Mexican restaurant I’ve been to, the menu was overwhelming. They had a combo section, consisting of different items for prices ranging from $ 7.99 to $ 11.99. Their menu consisted of Mexican classics but I got the combo #11, two enchiladas with rice and beans. It was good, I love retried beans as well as rice so I was all over that. Following dinner, I got churros, they’re my weakness. I’ve gotten churros at every Mexican place I’ve ever been to and this one, they were the BEST I’ve ever had. That’s right, the BEST. You like churros, have them. You don’t like churros, have them and they’ll make you like them. What was my reason for not giving 5 out of 5 you ask? The place smelled like smoke. Now, I’m not sure if smoking is allowed in restaurants in Virginia because I am from out of town, however it grossed me out.

This has started to become our go to Mexican around chesterfield towne. Good food. Good service. Not overly large restaurant. Good drink menu. If large party they only have a few large tables so may be a wait at peak times. Not normally any wait though for party of 4 to 6.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The service is good and the prices are very reasonable. Typical Mexican fare: burritos, enchiladas, lots of combos. i can’t wait to try the homemade ice cream!

Not bad not good either .The prices were way to high. The food taste the same as other mexican restaurants so why the prices so high? The margaritas were okay. could have been better for the price i payed.

We’d heard a lot about Tres Machos from friends and read the reviews. Happy to report that they did not disappoint! We had a Michelada(like a South of the border bloody mary) and shrimp cocktail combined. The food was good but the ice cream was hands down the best part of the meal.

Went to Chesterfield Town Center to go shopping and worked up a hunger. Got on Unilocal to see what was near us and Tres Machos seemed like a better option than a lot of big franchises. Our waiter was so sweet and really happy to hear that Unilocal had gotten a lot of people in the door. I got the fajitas with chorizo and it was cooked perfectly. Margaritas were really nice and light. Definitely will remember this place in the future!

Finally made it to Tres Machos. It’s decent enough. There was nothing particularly spectacular. The food was good. The service was fast. The best thing was probably the margaritas. There are a lot of options. And the prices aren’t bad. I wouldn’t go out of the way to go back there, but if I’m in the area I would eat there again.

Only been here 2 times. Both times our credit card cleared for $ 1.00 more then the receipt we signed. I match all my receipts with my credit card statements. The first time I thought it was just a mistake but then for it to happen again? Not ever going back.

With the good reviews we decided to give this restaurant a try. But we were disappointed. The food was the same quality as any other Mexican restaurant but the prices are higher. The service was bad, way too long between trips to check on us. Had to track down someone to refill drinks. My daughter was excited about the handmade ice cream but even that is overpriced. $ 3.50 for one scoop which was the size of a small dixie cup. Overall the Don Pepe restaurants are much better.

This place is a great little lunch spot. I came to eat at a lull in business. Everyone working was still smiling and helpful. The hostess seated me at a table by the bar– fine by me, I like tables and even though I eat along frequently, I don’t usually want to sit at the bar. I sat down and my server immediately came by– immediately meaning(seriously) as quick as you can snap your finger. He took my drink order, and was off to get it. When he left, someone came by the table to bring me chips and salsa, as well as the tangy white dip. I had my beverage brought to me promptly and he took my order. I began leisurely eating some tortilla chips, reading articles on my phone, etc. To my happy surprise, I had my lunch plate within fifteen minutes. It was extremely fast. My server came by more than once to ensure I didn’t need anything and it was not overbearing or pushy, just accomodating. The specifics– I ordered: unsweet tea, flautitas, and one scoop of vanilla homemade ice cream(the last per the tips of ye almighty Unilocalers) The unsweet tea was good. I find tea is pretty hard to deliver poorly. I get it everywhere unless I’m having alcohol. Since I was in between work functions today, I stayed off«the sauce» and resisted the temptations for a house margarita. The flautitas were very good. I like to order flautas when I am not too hungry and I’m in the mood for a meat(I eat a lot of veggies!) Flautitas came out hot and looked very tasty(–itas must mean they are shorter than flautas. When I have had flautas elsewhere, they are always big and served in twos. These were shorter and served as four) My server suggested two chicken, two beef, which I accepted happily. They are plated around lettuce(a nice mix) with guacamole, cream, and tomatoes. I enjoyed how crispy they were and the meats were seasoned nicely. Now… That ice cream was excellent. My grandma used to make the damned best rich tasting, sweet, thick and creamy vanilla ice cream I have ever had. This ice cream was as good as that. Maybe even better– I haven’t had grandma’s in a while! That ice cream is going to bring me back here. It was SO good. I want to emphasize– I enjoyed my lunch here. The service I received was really good(he was helpful and seemed really sweet). The food I ordered was tasty, prepared quickly, and served hot and fresh. The ice cream is worth five stars. I give Tres Machos four stars because of a few ‘personal preference’ discrepancies– 1. The dim lighting. Common in most restaurants. Mid day dim lighting just bothers my eyes. I can tell you… It’s not going to stop me coming back for another ice cream and 2. No tacos al pastor on the menu. It’s my absolute favorite lunch order when I can get it. On the flip side, though the menu here has fewer options than other places and lacks a much beloved favorite of mine, everything I had was done well. I think doing a few things great is always better than doing a million things lackluster Take a trip over and give it a try!

I came here as a second choice because my favorite was closed the day after Christmas. It is tucked away in a discreet location and probably does well for a bar. I assumed it would be on par with all the bigger Mexican restaurants but I was wrong. Our server disappeared several times forcing us to refill our own drinks. The food took longer than it should have for how empty the restaurant was. I have to assume it had to do with when our server actually entered our order. To this point I could blame it on service and hope the food would make me forget. Not so lucky, chile rellano was not cooked enough making it tough to cut into. There was nothing delux about the deluxe burrito. The ground beef was so wet on the hard tacos that the shell fell to pieces on the first bite. And the steak on my carne asada tacos was dry and lacked any flavor. Not sure how they are still in business.

Great prices, because for what you pay, you receive friendly service, truly tasty food, super fun décor, and lip-smacking drinks! We didn’t actually check-in tonight; however, we’ve been here over and over and over… Plus, I was hungry and thought about the countless times that Tres Machos had hit the spot. There is nothing complicated about their menu. It’s quite extensive, but it’s a fairly predictable Mexican menu that is much better than most. I’ve yet to find a shrimp taco recipe in richmond to rival theirs. The good is delicious and filling. We love that it’s got a «neighborhood spot» feel to it, although it’s not the easiest place to find. Management is so kind and make an effort to remember you. High points for cleanliness, too. Ledges get dusty every few visits, but floors, restrooms, and booths are clean, which is important to us.

I also can not figure out how this place is so highly rated… I’m guessing people that come here compare it to Taco Bell. With that being said, it’s better that TBell. There is nothing special about this fast Mexican restaurant. Chips are OK, salsa is not special, not from a jar… But, nothing special. Food was extremely salty. They are definitely trying to infuse flavor with salt opposed to fresh ingredients and ya know, seasonings. Anyway, i didn’t try the ice cream but this isn’t an ice cream shop review. The staff is very friendly and the food does come out quickly.

Over all this place was Mediocre. Let me start with the good before I start complaining… The guacamacho was AMAZING, that is the only thing that got this place 3 stars. Server was friendly. Atmosphere was nice and quiet. Now the bad… The salsa didn’t taste fresh, which caused it to taste like mushy tomatoes. The white sauce was thick, and not as sweet as I’m used to. Taco salad and Empanada both lacked flavor and had little filling. *****NOW, what really made me not want to return was the seafood chimichangas I ordered were HORRIBLE. They cost a hefty $ 10.99, so you would expect them to be large, filled with whole shrimp and lumps of crab. WRONG! More like skinny burritos filled with shrimp, crab, cheese baby food(purée), I didn’t even have to chew it… It was horrible. If I do return it will be for the delicious guacamacho! It was so good and enough to feed 4 easy! Also happy hour looked promising.

You’re greeted at the door, and taken to your seat and given chips with salsa and white cheese(ranch?) Style dip. Your drink order is taken quickly and appetizer brought out fast, they have Mexican music in the radio and decent programs on mute on the TV. The food is awesome, chicken is shredded and not soggy. Didn’t like the enchiladas they used corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas, which made the shells crumbly(?), just the way they cook em, nothing wrong with it, I just wasnt a fan. Overall all definite 5 star visit.
