I forgot to bring my checkbook to pay my deductible, which is completely my fault. I offered to call in the payment from my FSA debit card later this afternoon. The lady checking me in ask the next check in clerk if I could be seen without paying my deductible, all I saw was an arm reach around the wall and tap the sign that says all payments due. When I asked about starting the process of getting my records from another urologist, the arm comes back around the wall and this time hits the sign harder. If your front desk staff is that kind of rude, I don’t want any part of the doctors I’ll just go elsewhere.

Been here multiple times with my girlfriend because of kidney problems. Clean and well staffed establishment. Wait is never too bad even when super busy. Doctors are all nice and very helpful.

I first started using Virginia Urology around 2006. I had no complaints about my first doctor(Ludeman) for the first few years or so that I visited him(probably 5+ times.) Occasionally I would see a nurse practitioner for last minute emergencies and she was always good about follow-up. VA Urology also always sent reports to my primary care physician. Sometime around 2009, I called up for an appointment and I was booked with a new doctor(Seabury) without my knowledge or consent. It was clear when I arrived that they were trying to give him patients. He was as far as doctors are concerned — although tended to inform me about issues on a much lower level than Ludeman but I could deal with that. His nurse(Diane), however, cannot return a phone call. I had blood in my urine and was unable to get a call back for over 2 weeks! When she finally did call back, it was an unrelated coincidence. This was in the summer of 2012. I avoided them for a year over that incident. I since had to return due to the fact that there are only 2 urologist in Richmond that are not associated with this center and neither is wheelchair accessible. In the last 2 months, I have seen 5 different doctors. I’m having an ongoing problem and they have not once been able to book me with a single doctor I have seen previously. This is creating a great deal of chaos and confusion and my care is slipping between the cracks. I’ve spent extensive time in the waiting room because the staff did not check me in properly and most recently had an appointment with a doctor by the name of R. Nelson who spent approximately a minute and a half with me. He simply told me that my test results were not back and someone else would call with the results. I asked if I could wait. He told me I could, but needed to do so in the hallway. When my results were in, he spent one minute telling me I needed surgery(in the hallway, no less… what happened to HIPAA and privacy???), gave me no time to ask questions and dismissed the few questions I manged to squeeze in regardless. He then sent me to a scheduler for the surgery. She told me the only person available was again someone new. I did not book the appointment because I refuse to see yet again someone new for a procedure when I can’t even have basic questions answered. I used to feel like I was getting decent care at Virginia Urology but in the past 5 years this center has turned into an assembly line while their list of doctors has continued to grow. Rather than being able to ask questions you are given a brochure and shuffled on your way. Tests have become repetitive and unnecessary because there is little to no continuity of care. I have mentioned how frustrated I am with this treatment and there is no response. A monopoly has taken over urological care and there is little that can be done about it.
