Fine place. Burgers are good, but there are a lot of better burger places in Ridgefield. Shrimp app was good, and when I asked for a philly cheesesteak with lots of gorgonzola rather than American they obliged. Nice waitstaff, but you can do better in Ridgefield. They are very accommodating for food allergies.

We had our first(and last) visit. We love our restaurants with a good long history in a town, but this was a disappointment. The restaurant did have a faint musty/moldy smell and we were not pleased with the food or slow service(it was not very busy). I was asked if I wanted my drink in a small or tall glass, asked for small and received and charged for a tall(did not realize this until the check was dropped), the salad tasted good but swimming in oil and the lobster roll was tiny for the price.

I guess it’s the closest thing to a «normal» bar in Ridgefield. The service has been moody, and the food is overpriced/not so great(DONOT order anything to go. It will be awful. Though, I had the *Capra Prosciutto flatbread* while at the bar once, and that was pretty good). However, they have beer. This is important to remember.

Here’s the deal. Local watering hole for the townies. Above average burgers and bar food. The place could use an physical upgrade as does the bathroom cleanliness. Staff are friendly but have from time to time have an off day. Family friendly. Smoking just outdoors in the front detracts.

I would give negative stars if possible. This place stinks… I mean literally it smells bad. The place smells foul like mold on top of mold growing on mold. I would not eat there ever again if you paid me. The best thing that could ever happen to this place would be a fire and a total loss. Do yourself a favor eat someplace else where it does not smell like it has not been cleaned it in years. We haven’t eaten there in years, last week we walked in and walked out BECAUSEOFTHEAWFULSMELL!

Ryan Webber wants nothing more then to make sure all his customers are happy. He puts so much love and thought into all his plates. His inspiration really shows in his meals. If you’re bit satisfied let him know and he will be more then happy to make whatever you want. Ancient mariner is known for their seafood and exceptional specials. You won’t be disappointed!

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for the ol’ Mariner. They were old when I first showed up in Ridgefield, and that was 1990! Decades of service to a snobby white bread town speaks volumes in and of itself. I get why the overall rating isn’t particularly good… this is Ridgefield, a town that has transformed over the past quarter century from an above average small town, to a prohibitive social bubble for the ultra wealthy. To restate that without mincing words: a lot of pretentious douchebags live here. So your burger isn’t made from grass fed beef. So your sandwich comes with mayo and not aioli. So it’s not decorated with Italian mosaic tile and antique chandeliers. Do we understand the concept of a local watering hole, people? Cheap drinks, serviceable bar food, unintimidating atmosphere, and a place that doesn’t change just because the world around it does. There’s nothing wrong with that. Don’t you ever change, Mariner, you hear? Don’t ever change…

Eat hereafter weekend after my ‘friend’ dragged me here promising this ace was better. Boy was he wrong! The burger was one of the worst I’ve had in Ridgefield. Incredibly dry and absolutely no flavor. We also ordered the nachos and there were some of thenworst I’ve ever had in town. The biggest thing this restruant need is a makeover, it’s lost its appeal as being the local spot for the town drunks. My family and most of our friends refuse to eat here as it is generally considered one of the dirtiest restaurants in Rdgefield.

Seriously? How could this not be 5 stars? Clearly, not everyone has tried the burgers!!! I have been eating here for way too many years to admit to and have only once been disappointed. I will admit that I have never tried anything other than the burgers. That’s because they are so good, I would never pass one up to order anything else! Go ahead and try it!!!

Four of us loved our meal here! We all had with burgers and salads and thought the variety and options were great. I was impressed by the variety of salads and found the menu broader than I anticipated. I had not been here in years, and I liked that a restaurant in town can last as long as this has. Nice staff, nice chill vibe. I’ll be coming back.

Really good food and great relaxed atmosphere. Good value. Home made potato chips and good selection of draft beers. It seems to cater to an older crowd. I had the lobster sandwich and I’m coming back.

This might be the biggest dump I’ve ever step foot in the food wasn’t even worthy of me sitting on there chairs that they found at the local dump or goodwill. I was forced to eat here because it was late and I prayed for the check so I could rush to mcdonalds which makes this place look like Ruth Chris steakhouse. Half the workers there are heroin addicts that I went to high school with. If you wanna see the local bum he’ll be at the end of the depressing bar every night hitting on the 15 year old bartender. The nachos had unmelted cheese on it with about 7 total chips… I felt like I was late to a shitty Super Bowl party. The place smells like something that came out of my ass after a wedding weekend. It must have been the shitty burger that came out of the microwave That I needed a water hose to swallow. I Hope this place falls apart or the cops in Ridgefield stay productive and shut this down before more people end up at the funeral home across the street.

Came here to lunch after not having been for a few years. The food was good. The service was friendly but slow. The overall atmosphere is a bit dank and not as family oriented as in the past. Prices were fair.

Love to eat local, but this was not good. I applause their efforts to spruce up their menu… but it was better when it was the classic burger place. Dark and predictable watering hole. It doesn’t make the cut:( Food was lackluster… brownie in the sundae was a definite rock. So sad to type this… I liked the original Ancient Mariner.

Have tried the filet special twice now, both unsuccessfully. First one was totally uncooked in middle, not medium. Last evening it was so sinewy, we couldn’t even cut it with the steak knife. The waitress said she would let the(new) chef know, but that was the extent of the concern shown. Probably won’t be back for awhile.

I really wanted to like this place, their Facebook pics of weekly specials look pretty good sometimes, but it just didn’t live up to expectation. To start with the décor, it is very dusty and dated looking, like a beach front tourist trap from the 1980s. We were torn between ordering from their laminated photocopy menu and running for the exit. Knowing that Little Pub would be very crowded, we decided to stay and take our chances. We ordered the nachos appetizer, which was absolutely smothered in greasy cheese. The tortilla chips seemed to be made in house, very hard and translucent with grease. This dish ended up being the highlight of our meal, the entrees were awful… old tasting ingredients, unbalanced flavors and combinations… not the sort of food most people would willing eat while sober. It seemed as though the chef just doesn’t care at all what is leaving the kitchen. I was really thankful for the beer which will hopefully help stave off any food borne illnesses this meal could potentially cause.

The Mariner is one of our favorites in town. The food is excellent! I’ve never had a bad meal here and I’ve had quite a few. It’s a bit small but the atmosphere is relaxed and I can bring the kids. Highly recommended!

Some of the best bar and grill food I have ever had. Reliably great burger and fries locals have come to depend on.

I was pleasantly surprised by what I thought would just be an average bar in an average strip mall. They’ve got good pub food(especially the wings), but they also have a full dinner menu with fish, steaks, etc. The bar is the main attraction, in my opinion, as I’m not usually one to order a $ 20+ entrée or $ 10+ salad in a themed bar/restaurant in a strip mall, but I guess that’s what one can expect to pay for food at «similar» restaurants in the area. They even had a respectable selection of bourbon, even being up in the frozen tundra, far from Bourbon Country down south. I did love that they had live music. Chip Andrus and his band were great, especially the virtuoso young keys player… that boy would fit right in on tour with one of our bands down here in Music City. In short, I won’t hesitate to come back the next time I’m in the area.
