The Prospector Theater

amazing theatre!!! everyone working there was so helpful and nice, and the actual theatres were small so i thought that was cool. hope to come visit again soon, and the mission of the theatre was wonderful too.

Very impressed. I didn’t even know there was a movie theater in Ridgefield until today. It’s a very clean, modern looking space with a friendly vibe to it. Staff was excellent! I checked out their website later, and found that it’s actually a nonprofit organization that provides employment for the disabled. Can’t think of a better place to spend my money and see a movie. Parking is limited but there is a large lot just across the street with plenty of free parking. Will definitely come back and hopefully come early enough to try the café or restaurant.

I heard about the mission of the Prospector Theater, to employ and support young adults with disabilities, shortly after it opened a year ago. Having worked with children and adults with disabilities, this struck me as a natural extension of our efforts to expand opportunities for equal access to education. But what happens after someone ages out of school? The options for employment are very limited. Beyond the concept of education and training for life, this seemed like a good idea for the entire community.
What we encountered at the Prospector is something we haven’t found in years. The Prospector is a community jewel. It is a well designed, beautifully executed facility which is accessible and conveys a welcoming energy to all. Children, adults, and seniors; families, groups of students and singles, all mingling in the lobby, choosing between a snack bar and a café. Freshly brewed coffees and teas at fair prices, served with a smile. Seating is very comfortable and the theater is meticulously maintained. The employees are welcoming and efficient. Professionalism and small town charm are rolled into one very successful operation. Multiple screens, but surely not your corporate multiplex! The icing on the cake is the dining establishment which we were told will be re-​opening.
The Prospector has created a movie-​going experience we can all enjoy, while establishing a model for other communities to replicate. It is a win-​win situation for these young adults and for the community. Needless to say, we now know why this theater is a sellout. We are looking forward to our next visit, hoping to see some of the friendly faces we have met so far.

Just took my son and wife to see The Good Dinosaur. Not only was the movie awesome, but the staff was funny, helpful and engaging. We saw an employee we recognized and she couldn’t wait to give my son a big hug! What a wonderful mission and excellent execution. Val Jensen, keep up the great work!

What a wonderful setting! I would encourage everyone to go there… young, senior, young at heart! First of all it is a wonderful facility! Seating, sound system, visual was all state of the art! We saw Bridge of Spies — AWESOME movie — Clean, just great karma! Now for the real gem… I might not word this correctly, so please forgive me if I misspeak! The staff is wonderful! They are really the GEMS and main event at the Prospector! They are engaged, eager to please, very communicative, having fun… and each one of them has some sort of challenge bestowed upon them. Some physical, some mental… what is really inspiring is that they have worked through it, they are happy, and are employed, caring, giving and productive members of our community & society. So inspiring! Thank-​you Thank-​you Thank-​you! Many of us get stressed about work, or home, or whatever; these folks are great role models for all of us. We wish the Prospector well, it was a full house last night! God Bless the gifted and wonderful team at The Prospector Theatre — bring your friends, family, children — we will (can) all learn so much from these folks! Note to business owners: please look into this business model for your business!

What a wonderful place to see a movie! On a whim my boyfriend and I decided to try the Prospector instead of AMC. We are so glad we did, and may never see a movie anywhere else.
Clean? Oh my gosh, was it! The place smells brand new still.
Beautiful? Yes, and tasteful, and funky, and eclectic.
Comfortable? Absolutely! We were disappointed to see we had arrived too late to take advantage of the recliners up front, which we knew nothing about. But the stadium seats were comfy just the same. Next time we will arrive earlier and try out those recliners!
Convenient? Yep! Closer to home for us than The theater in Danbury, AND they had someone selling refreshments RIGHT IN THE THEATER!
But wait, there’s more. For instance, there is a little piano bar upstairs. I think I saw a little place to grab a beer (not sure you can take it into the theater). There is even a little stadium seating area in the lobby with cushions and an enormous TV. We saw a family just hanging out watching football.
And the staff, well, the staff just make the whole thing even better. Congratulations to this place for its inclusionary vision.
We love it! Can’t wait to go back to the Prospector!

A new dimension to Movie going. Not only be entertained this venue is a total feel good experience. A chance to see a meaningful mission to offer handicapped adults a purpose to find their SPARKLE and demonstrate they can be productive fun loving people.
I never leave the Prospector without a wide smile on my face and a feeling that i helped someone important.

No words. Just perfect in every way. Except I wish they would show more independent non-​Hollywood films. They show everything that comes to the corporate multiplexes. But there is no cleaner, more updated, better looking theater anywhere. And the sound and visual are off the charts superb.

What a gem! Starting with the café, Charming and I enjoyed the all you can eat lunch salad bar and then brought the cookies into the 3-​d showing of Jurassic World. We stretched out on the bean bag chairs (hey adults like to be comfy too!) and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Everyone was beyond courteous and the place was so clean, we felt like we were guests in someone’s private showing room. Will visit the Prospect theater and café more regularly

Hands down the best movie theater I have ever been to.
The facility is brand new, modern, clean, spacious, and fun. (Think old school pac-​man arcade game in the lobby fun) The location is perfect with ample parking and right off the main drag in town. Let’s also not forget they have a restaurant, with a full bar, and you are allowed to bring your food/​drinks into the movie.
As good as the facility is, the staff are really what make this place shine. They are all friendly, knowledgeable, and sincere. The mission which the theater supports is a wonderful cause.
** If Unilocal ever allowed me to leave a sixth star, The Prospector Theater would be the recipient! Believe the hype, take the family out for a movie, the theater is that good! **

Best theater around! Each member of the team makes every patron feel welcome with an enthusiastic greeting to impeccable service. The concessions are plentiful and fresh. And it is the cleanest movie theater I have ever stepped foot in.
The only downfall — The Prospector Theater has ruined all other movie theaters for us. My hubby and I will not go to any other theater to watch a movie after having multiple awesome experiences here.

Best new addition to town, first cut movies at normal prices and serves the disabled community as well. Very comfortable seating and in house restaurant let’s you bring beer and food into the theater! 4 theatres inside, each different and with their own special features. Come see a movie and support a terrific cause at the same time.

A spectacular experience!!! I sincerely hope, and will do what I can, to spread this courageous, ingenious, humbling, and above all, wonderfully enjoyable movie going experience throughout the civilized world!
Living in this over-​regulated society, I was pleasantly caught off guard when not only was I allowed, but encouraged, to not rush but bring my delicious Kobe Burger and iced cold Alagash White into the theatre to enjoy with the movie.
The spotless amphitheater and roomy ‘wide-​armed’ chair was super comfortable and perfect for dining and munching!
But all this ‘Wonderful’ pale, I mean it’s absolutely squashed, by the absolute pride and joy and hope, one sees and hears and feel from the Prospects! I was almost moved to tears when our Prospect explained that another Prospect donated her Special Olympic medals from EIGHTEEN years of winnings to the mural on the second floor.
So, if you’re going to see a movie, grab a bite with your family or on a date night, why not do yourself, your community, the Prospects a favor and come to The Prospector Theater!!!

It’s not often you find a movie theater with a restaurant, full bar and ultra comfortable lounge chairs. It’s also a wonderful non-​profit for a great cause. The staff is phenomenal. Love this place.
I’ll never go to Bow Tie cinema again.

Love!!! Girls and I came out for the night. Started at the Star Bar for diner and heading to the show after! So nice to have this in town!!!

A wonderful place to see a movie. Well staffed, ample parking and first run movies.
A nice Art Deco style only enhances the the whole experience. One thing that def stands out is the clean bath room. There is more than just movies happening here also is a café and it is just a cool place to hang out.
