I visited Jackson for a bit, and stumbled upon Primos. I wasn’t sure what to order, and tried the special. It was amazing. It was fairly priced and I really enjoyed it. Overall, I would recommend Primos without hesitation. The servers were very friendly and the food was very good. I will be back as much as possible.

This place is great. Good home style meals at reasonable prices. The fried chicken is the best! The service is spectacular. Lots of side dishes to choose from. My personal favorites are the black eyed peas, Mac & cheese, mash potatoes, and rice. I also love the cornbread muffins. My girlfriend is a huge fan of the strawberry cake. I’ve been here a few times now and I have been impressed every time. This is real food. For that«sticks to your ribs», as the saying goes. I leave full and stay that way hours after I’ve left.

This place is great! I’m gonna get honest with you Unilocalers and admit I’ve never ordered off the lunch or dinner menu at Primos. I’ve been a million times and either get breakfast or dessert.(Not a bad way to live, in my opinion.) The cheese grits are divine. My friends and I get cravings for them and have yet to replicate them in the kitchen. They are so creamy and fluffy at the same time while tasty so perfectly cheesy and buttery. How do they do it? And their bacon and pancakes are good, too. The syrup is brought out in an individual package(weird). Their desserts are really good too! Good for meeting up for something sweet instead of coffee. The absolute best thing about Primo’s is the atmosphere. Everyone from all walks of life and ages is eating there. You have business men and women, young couples, older couples, families with kids, and teenagers all hanging out. And you can hang out! It’s one of those places where people feel comfortable sitting around for 2 – 3 hours and enjoying themselves, talking, and/or just reading the newspaper(old school, I know). So check it out! They’ve got some cool pictures of Jackson from the 30s on the walls. I really wish the one on State Street still existed. Primo’s is an important part of Jackson and Mississippi’s history.

This is a neat cafeteria-style diner. The blue plate options look really good,(pork chops or chicken pot pie today) but I got a club sandwich. The sandwich was ok– kinda dry– a special sauce or mayo would have made it lots better. I like that they serve breakfast all day. This is a nice place for a quick lunch. It’s a diner, not a fine dining experience, but the service was friendly and it was a decent lunch experience.

Fried chicken Thursday is my favorite! Always great food and service. For a very reasonable price you can get the blue plate with 1 meat, 2 vegetables, bread, and a drink.

It’s all great at Primos. From gumbo to grits … From breakfast to an incredible Reuben. I usually avoid restaurants with such a wide variety of food(assuming no one can do it all well), but Primos pulls it off. Highly recommended.

Usually I really like everything I eat at primos but this time it tasted like we weren’t getting the best food they could serve. I’m not one of those people who has high expectations everywhere I go but I do expect consistency. For an establishment as old and regarded as primos, I expect impeccable food. However, they can’t seem to put out a consistent product.

Primos is a favorite of mine for a meal any time of day! There’s a good variety of foods available and breakfast is served all day. Their biscuits are made fresh every morning, so sadly they are usually out by dinner. The place is always clean, and the staff is super friendly. I highly recommend!

Two of us were there for lunch yesterday and he had the Friday Blue Plate Special(catfish) with fried green tomatoes. I had a cheeseburger and both meals were really good. He thought the tomatoes were the best he’d had in a long time. We are from out of town, but when we return Primos is definitely worth a return visit!

For some reason, we always forget about this Primos location on Lake Harbour — but when we go we always say«why don’t we come here more often?» The service is Southern sweet, the food is Southern delicious — you can’t go wrong. It’s also a great place to get catering, pick up a family meal to go or pick up a dessert! Some of our favorites to order are the vegetable plate, any of their daily specials, their po-boys, creole seafood salad and their burgers. You can’t go wrong with anything you order!

One of my favorite places for breakfast in the JXN area. I love the omelette with Swiss. with wheat toast. Great, down home service and food!

Good breakfast place; not perfect but enjoyable. Been a few times. Coffee was pretty bad last time but it’s very rare to get good coffee at breakfast places so I don’t really hold it against them. Like their pancakes because they are tasty and great at absorbing syrup. Otherwise usually order eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. Everything else has been good. Only minor problem is that they don’t quite know how to do sunny side up; they tend to undercook the whites. Strawberry cake was very good without being too sweet and overpowering.

Again… no F… ing delivery as stated! I guess business owners are so stupid here they can’t read the directions when setting up their Unilocal status! Not too difficult! But apparently is! Get an education Mississippians!

While in Jackson, I was looking for a local restaurant. After reading Primo’s website I decided this was a great local option. When we walked in the T-shirts said, southern food for city folk. Which is me so I felt like I fit in perfectly. Came in for lunch on a Thursday with a coworker because it was Thursday. And on Thursday they serve fried chicken. We came in and there was a large clump of people trying to form a line to order at the counter. I wish they would have some kind of ropes set up to make it more organized. After ordering all the tables were full so we sat at the bar. This actually was kinda fun because we got to see all the food come out. I ordered the fried chicken with cole slaw and mac and cheese. The fried chicken was so juicy and crispy on the outside! I highly recommend it. The cole slaw was refreshing. The mac and cheese was ok. We also got chocolate cake to go, it was heavenly!!! So rich and delicious. If you are in a hurry, there is a fridge with food to go including dessert. Primos is a great option for a quick lunch.

When I threw out the question on Facebook asking who had the best sammich in town, the Primos Shrimp Po Boy got a few votes. I rolled in on one today at lunch… ponied up the extra $ 1 for the Sweet Potato fry upgrade and sat down with a Splenda Tea all for under $ 14. The bread is really good. Almost as good as the bread at Soulshine, but not quite. The shrimp were really nice. There were a BUNCH of shrimp(see picture) as well as a nice flaky crust on my bread. It is a damn fine sammich. When I eat poboys andywhere outside of New Orleans, I always rate them the same way. Would I be happy with this poboy if I had ordered it in New Orleans? Yep. It’s a fine sammich. Couple that with the great service and atmosphere of Primos and you have yourself a sandwich worth a trip.

Myself and some colleagues had a business conference in Jackson, and when Primos came up on Unilocal we all decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The place was pleasantly busy when we pulled up, but the line to order was pretty short. Loved the atmosphere — very café/diner type experience with a little bit of 50’s flair. It’s a sitdown/takeout place, so you order at the counter and they will bring the food to your table when it’s done. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Since we hadn’t been before, they were giving recommendations on the menu. The menu had nice variety without being overwhelming. I ended up ordering their«Biloxi Press», which is a fried shrimp po’boy. Admittedly, it was not the literally best po’boy I’ve ever had(New Orleans has that pleasure), but I definitely enjoyed my meal. I was particularly pleased at the fresh ingredients. The tomato slices were super thick and fresh. We didn’t try it, but this place also has a bakery on the other side from the diner. Everything in the counter looked spectacular, so if it’s as good as it looks, then I’m sure the baked goods are tasty.

I’m a really really big fan of Primos. I have and always will love it. I grew up in Jackson and have since moved away but it will always have a special place in my heart. The variety of options are one of my favorite part of the restaurant. They have everything from Grits for breakfast to club sandwiches to Southern cooking vegetable plates. And on top of it all it’s VERY affordable especially given the convenience and how fast your food arrives. Also the Iced Tea might be my favorite in Jackson. The absolute best part about Primos is the bakery. The caramel cake is my one vice in life. How I miss the smooth, light, and airy caramel cake. I’m getting hungry just writing this. All in all I strongly encourage you to go! Also, last time I checked(which was a while ago) offered a pretty good gift card so you might want to check that out before you go.
