Solid Steak place… Ate there twice in a week: Pork Chop was good with a Caesar Salad(they don’t have anchovies, but should offer as an option). I also took some guests for the 2nd time in two visits and they all enjoyed it on both visits. You order your meat and then sides are separate and come family style.

Tico’s is an excellent place for a great steak. The service was impeccable! The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars is that it is over priced for the quality. My ribeye had a large strip of gristle running down the middle. While I understand that this happens, I’ve had better steaks at half the price. The steak was 3 stars, but the service was 5 stars. I certainly don’t mind paying a premium for a great steak, but that’s exactly what I expect, a great steak. Another tip is to order your steak one step more rare than you like it. It comes out on a 500° plate, which continues to cook the steak at the table. If you like a perfect medium rare, order it rare, and then flip it over on the plate one time and it will finish cooking and come out perfectly med-rare. There are several other excellent choices for a great steak in the area that are not quite as expensive, and have a better ambiance.

Love this place. The best filet I’ve ever had. Old school steakhouse at his best. I always get the petite filet which is anything BUT petite. Try the fried crab claws too. I usually get a salad with the house gorgonzola dressing – also delicious. The last time I went the filet came over asparagus with crab meat and bernaise on top. A great place for a celebration. And my kids(5 and 1.5) were welcomed by the staff.

Surprising find in a small town! I ordered the NY Strip medium rare, with the side of suteed mushrooms. Everything was cooked perfect and delicious! To top it off at the end of the meal I met Tico, as I was lamenting the miss of no cigar selections in the house. Damn if he didn’t instruct one of his minions to run down the street and pick up enough for my party, and we sat outside on the veranda, enjoyed some fine tobacco product, and ordered another several rounds of drinks. First class all the way — thank you Tico’s!

Went for a birthday dinner. Food was good but not quite worth the price. A step below Ruth Chris quality but the same price.

Not impressed, after reading the reviews, I expected a top notch experience. My daughter had the small filet and I had the large fillet. Both were cooked as ordered and were good, not great. Our server was informative, but not very polite, just average service. My wife had the shrimp scampi, just terrible. Hard shrimp, very little flavor. Don’t mind paying for a great meal and over the top service, just didn’t receive either one here. Very disappointed!

Great steak!!! The filet 8 oz was more than enough, cooked to perfection. The side grilled tomatoes were delicious, and pairing with a glass of Malbec topped it! Too bad the mushrooms were just regular, not portabella’s Ambiance is nice. Our server was great.

Very, very good steak — which I would really hope so since it is one of the premier places in Jackson metro for steak. My wife and I have been several times and the steak is alway cooked perfect. The sides are nothing to frown on either. Grilled onions and mushrooms with the steak of choice and wow. Service is great and folks are friendly — would highly recommend to others.

I will have to go against the grain on this restaurant. I know that many people consider Tico’s to be the best steakhouse in the Jackson area. I find it to just be average. The food is good, not great. The steaks come out with butter still sizzling on them, which is showy, but really adds no flavor. The steaks are just average in my opinion. They are good cuts of meat, but something keeps them from being exceptional. The menu is typical for a high end steakhouse both in offerings and prices. The restaurant is always packed and noisy. I’ve always enjoyed my meals here, but nothing about them has ever stood out.

This is probably the best steakhouse I have ever been to. Being from out of town,(Virginia) I have been to many different steakhouses and none of them compare. From the minute we walked in to the second we left, the service was second to none. We were immediately greeted by our waitress and she quickly took our drink orders and brought out the fried crab claws. I never had them before but they were amazing. I also ordered the wedding cake martini. It was very sweet but good. Our waitress brought us fresh, hot bread to eat before our meal. Amazing. I ordered the small filet(8oz.) medium. It was cooked to perfection and was sizzling on the plate when it arrived. We also ordered the potatoes au gratin and the Spanish to share. The potatoes were nothing short of amazing. Extremely cheesy and great flavor. There isn’t one bad thing to say about this place. If you’re looking for the best steak, this is your place.

Wow, I feel like drinking a gallon of water after eating at Tico’s. Did the top fall off of your salt shaker? What are you hiding under all of that salt? What could have been a good meal was almost inedible due to the outrageous amount of salt in everything, especially the creamed spinach. This is a great place, if they’d correct this issue that may seem minor, but makes or breaks a meal. Love the place, had a nice time and the staff is great, but pass the water please!!!

This is, without a doubt, the finest, most lavish steakhouse in the tricounty area. Maybe even all of Mississippi. The only renovation I could suggest is maybe pave the driveway and parking lot. Other than that, the staff is friendly, the ambience is fantastic, and the food is out of this world. Only thing negative is that it costs an arm and a leg, but it’s worth every penny.

The steaks were perfectly done medium rate as ordered– small filets were just right. Sides are all good– especially liked the creamed spinach and wild rice. A must-try in Jackson area.

Decided to try Ticos for the first time on our 11 year anniversary. I must say I was not too impressed. Husband ordered steak, I ordered fried shrimp as well as our two children. We both agreed it was just okay. It is a bit on the expensive side for mediocre food. On a positive note we did have a great waitress and friendly staff.

My first visit to Tico’s Steak House, I was probably only 12 years old. I can still remember where I was sitting when I had my first Tico’s filet. I was not a girl anymore. No! That day, I became a woman. It was so good, that my little sister, who had ordered mozzarella sticks as her meal, wanted to trade.(If you know children and cheese sticks, I believe this speaks for itself.) Anyway, I have visited Tico’s since and am always blown away by the steak. I’m a filet girl, so I haven’t considered trying other cuts. It does feel like a boys club. But, I have never felt unwelcome as a woman. Out of all the steaks I have tasted in my life, they all fade away compared to Tico’s.

When in Jackson on business, I have to eat here. This could be the best steak I’ve ever had… make a reservation, however! Full bar, great service, top notch!

What a disappointment… I have been a fan of Tico since he was at the original Ruth’s Chris in Jackson. I haven’t been to Tico’s for a couple of years, and the quality has has dropped dramatically. I am not even sure I was served Prime Beef… Anyhow, when you charge Capital Grille or Morton’s Prices, you better at least come close to the bar they set. I ordered a Ribeye, medium rare. They are supposed to come out on sizzling plates, well none of ours did. I cut into part of it, and it was medium rare, then I cut into another part, and it was well done. Come on, even a chump can grill a steak evenly. So I sent it back. The new one came out minutes later, which actually surprised me. I couldn’t believe it could have been done so quickly. Well, it wasn’t done. In fact, the«eye» was cold and hard. YUCK… The fat was not even trimmed. What a joke. As a side, I ordered asparagus. I got 6 pieces of the lousiest asparagus I have EVER been served. The were not even as thick as a straw. They forgot our potatoes, and dropped my sister-in-law’s lobster tail(which took another 30 minutes to get a new one). The entire ordeal lasted over 2 ½ hours. So to say they were efficient could be the understatement of all time. Oh, and my wife had the surf and turf too… her lobster tail was just a hunk of previously frozen rubber. She would have rather been served monkfish. Maybe if Tico would get off the golf course and actually show up in his restaurant, the quality might improve. I know I will be back some time, and will definitely be looking to see if the quality improved. Oh — the service was very good. The kitchen was not.

Tico’s is great! We dine there with my in-laws on a regular basis and we love it. My husband’s family has been eating here for years. The gorgonzola dressing is awesome. I have never had a steak here that wasn’t cooked the way I ordered it. The blueberry cheesecake is good as has been previously written, but insider hint: get an amaretto freeze if you want something a little alcoholic and delicious to top your meal off with. Be advised the cocktails can be pretty strong… not that that’s a bad thing. The service is always friendly and we are always greeted warmly by the staff. I don’t love the atmosphere for date night, but for family events, meetings, etc., this is definitely a go!

To say this place was a bit of a surprise to me is an understatement. Let me start at the beginning… It was a Wednesday night business dinner in Jackson, MS. The person I was meeting for dinner suggested this place — said it was one of the best steakhouses in town. Needless to say the first thing I did was point the laptop to Unilocal and search Jackson, MS for any reviews. Guess what? Can’t find it! Doesn’t appear to be on Unilocal… go figure… Now to the restaurant itself — not being overly familiar with the area I had a bit of trouble finding the place. It’s located in an area with substantial commercial development but it’s sole visible attribute from the road is a rather small sign. Hard to see at night! The restaurant itself is located a bit off of the road. But, once I found it I was surprised at how large it was. I mean, this is fairly large restaurant. The interior is a mix of sports memorabilia(lots of Olé Miss) and hunting lodge. Yes, you have large stuffed animal heads mixed in with Uncle Reb. Pretty cool if you ask me. The one thing that I could not quite understand was that the restaurant has what appears to be a full set of posters from Louisiana’s Amite Oyster Festive that extends even into the men’s room. Oh, and the place was busy as hell. But let’s jump to the food… A wedge salad with balsamic vinaigrette was a simple way to start. The lettuce was nice and crisp but a heavier dressing, say the traditional blue cheese, would probably have been better fit than the light vinaigrette. The steak — I went with my favorite cut, the NY Strip, medium rare. It was a beautiful piece meat cooked perfectly and broiled in butter a la Ruth’s Chris. Decadent. Delicious. Really one of the best steaks I have ever had. A side of asparagus Au gratin was good but on the same level as the steak. There was a good amount of sharp cheddar but the asparagus itself was a bit overcooked and the bechamel was a bit pasty. Not bad, but I have had better. As this was a business dinner and I was not paying I succumbed to peer pressure and ordered a dessert. Homemade cheesecake with blueberry topping. The cheesecake was very moist — more like an icebox pie really — but it was damn good. I also had a couple glass of a decent house cab. Full bodied, lots of black fruit with a touch of smokey oak and minerals on the nose-went very well with the steak. So what was the surprise? I would never have expected this to be one of the best steaks I have ever eaten! I kid you not on this! Oh, and if I couldn’t find it on Unilocal what the hell am I doing writing this review? Well, it’s in RIDGELAND, MISSISSIPPI not JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI. I would consider Ridgeland to be a part of Jackson but I guess Unilocal doesn’t see it that way. Go figure. Bottom Line: One of the best steaks that I have ever had. Still, not quite a 5-star restaurant. But it’s trying!
