Shapley’s

If I could rate this place any owner I would. Had to send everything back because it was so salty it was not edible. At 47 bucks for a fillet you would expect better. And it was not just the steak that was too salty we sent sides back, too. Never going back.

Looking for a place to enjoy a nice dinner with Mt friend/​customer and this place was highly recommended. We chatted in at private table and snacked on blue crab claws… yummy!!! Piping hot, wnd cooked just right. Salad was simple but tasty. I had the house salad with half Thousand Island and half blue cheese. Both were made in house and were delicious. My friend and I each ordered a steak. He had a 16 ounce ribeye and I had a 16 ounce steak the strip. Both were cooked to perfection, served on a sizzling platter and perfectly done at medium. We also had a side of Gryuere cheese scalloped potatoes. Wow! This is definitely the place in Jackson Mississippi to bring someone to have a fabulous steak, great atmosphere and wonderful sides. Next time I’ll have to try the dessert menu.

This is without a doubt the best Steak I’ve had in Jackson, The Char was perfect and the drippings is served with is outstanding !!

Shapley’s is a local favorite and a landmark. It is considered to be among the top steakhouses in Jackson. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The food is good. The chef knows how to cook a steak to the true temperature (something that does not happen too often).
If you are looking for a cozy atmosphere, a great bar and wine selection, and a good steak then you might want to give Shapley’s a try.
They are conveniently located in Ridgeland.

Recommended by a friend I am glad I tried Shapleys. I had a bone in filet and side of fries. Big proportions, perfectly cooked with a nice wine menu. Highly recommend. Just remember you get what you pay for in this world. Good food does not come cheap.

Wish I could do a 4.5. Had dinner here for the first time in several years. I ordered the filet ($ 32) with crabmeat ($ 12). The meal includes a salad of mixed lettuces, some onion, and a slice of tomato — a little more variation would be nice, esp if you don’t eat raw onion. Salad dressings are house made and good — thousand island was better than usual. My filet was the smallest and most irregular of many our table ordered but was delicious. The crabmeat was a good ½ cup serving and very fresh. The spinach side with lots of cheese was delicious and a generous serving. Service was fine but a little slow. Also, it was pretty toasty inside — it’s in the high 90s outside so that makes some sense but it was a little too warm for comfort. The steak, spinach, and crab was a 5, the salad and waitstaff a 4, and the environment (temp and loudness) a 3.

I had dinner at Shapley’s and was impressed as always. I ordered the 8 oz filet with lump crabmeat topping. The steak was cooked to perfection and the crab meat was sweet and delicious. Others in my group ordered ribeyes, filets and one had a fish dish. Everyone raved about their meals. The sides of potatoes, cheese bread, fries and tamales were amazing as well. We topped everything off with a couple of bottles of wonderful Cabernet for a great dining experience. I’m never disappointed here. I think Shapley’s is one of the top 5 – 6 restaurants in Mississippi!

A very good steakhouse. Started with the crawfish bisque, outstanding. Love their ribeye. Got scallops tonight with my ribeye, very good. Their au grautin potatoes are good as is their asparagus. Place is pricey. My 2^nd time going and wasn’t disappointed. If I’m in Jackson again, will be making another reservation.

Wow is all I can say. I ordered the bone-​in Cowboy Ribeye and it was one of the best Steaks I have ever had. Only wish I had ordered the Cowgirl cut, cause there aint no way i am finishing this!

Best steaks in Jackson. I routinely get the NY strip and my wife gets the small filet. Both are very tender and flavorful. The asparagus and scalloped potatoes round out the meal.

Exceptional! Appetizers, salads, and entrees were as good as I have had. Bone in filet was a real treat. seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service was top shelf. Wine list was very good. I am visiting from Chicago and have extensive experiences with steak in Chicago and Texas. Shapleys touches all the bases I highly recommend!

This is the absolute best steak in the Jackson area in my opinion.
I’ve ordered filet, rib-​eye, porter house, and strips and never been unhappy with my steak. I like mine medium rare, and they have ALWAYS cooked it correctly. They do offer poultry and fish, but I’ve never tried either as they have my favorite steak. Try the Demi-​Glacé and crab topping on your steak if you’ve never had that. But first try the steak on its own. It stand up well to that test!
The sides are all very good. The Gruyère and chive scalloped potatoes are a nice treat. The cream spinach au gratin is a favorite as well.
If you manage to save room for dessert, you can’t go wrong with any of them. I’ve rarely had the room though!
The servers are among the best in the area. They know the menu well, are very professional and take care of all your needs without being intrusive.
The atmosphere is intimate or romantic depending on your dinner companion (s). It is great for a small business dinner, or a special night with that special person.
As a local, when I want a great steak, this is where I go.

Well worth the trip. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Excellent menu and many wines. A+ Resturant with a great ambiance.

I knew this place was known for its great steaks, but when I saw the halibut on the menu, I was intrigued. It was honestly the best halibut I’ve ever eaten. That horseradish beurre blanc sauce was amazing. Service was very attentive and their house made salad dressing (lemon vinaigrette) was wonderful. Four stars rather than five, because I think it’s overpriced for the overall experience.

Yes, it is expensive… but it is sooooo good.
If I ready for a special meal, Shapley’s is usually the top of the list for me. I get a steak 99% of the time. The meat is so tender and melts in your mouth. The sides are rich and flavorful as well (try the scallops)
The salad portion size has increased as of late, so that is an added plus. And all the dressings are homemade.
The wait staff treats you like your something special and it is odd if your drink gets below half filled (I guess Shapley’s sees the world as a glass full type of person!).
Many of the sides can be shared so you may want to ask if you have any doubt.
Only downside I see is that the atmosphere and lighting is dark. If you have guests that might be hard of seeing, they may a flashlight to read the menu.
Sit back and enjoy one of the best meals in the city.

For apps we love to get the tamales, or the escargot. If they have it for a special, get whichever steak you want with the bone-​in and you won’t be disappointed. I typically get the ribeye but have also tried the filet and the NY strip and all have been fantastic. Always get the mushrooms added and if you are feeling hungry try the additions of either the scallops or the bacon wrapped shrimp but be prepared to take some home with you.
It is pricy but if this sort of meal is what you are looking for, I would much rather go here and support the locals than go to a chain like Ruth’s Chris etc. (and pay the same prices).
