So Joe and John’s is under new management. The new owners are young, and clean. But the food is good again. But for me the winner has been their salads. So far in ridgewood they are my new favorite salad. Their grilled chicken on top is great! For the record I haven’t had the pizza but I have had other stuff and have been very satisfied.

Place is being renovated with a fresh new look. The new owners are awesome!!! Very friendly — I love plain cheese pizza and its crispy and sauce is amazing. Husband love their mozzarella sticks, garlic knots and stuff potato for $ 1 each.

Been coming to this establishment for the past 7 years, since working in the area Joe & John’s has had 4 different owners. I have to say that the new owners have a lot to do with me coming back here, this was my pizzeria go to place whenever I didn’t want to walk far from work(J&J is located across the street from my job) and I wanted something to eat that was affordable. I stopped coming about a year ago, the quality of cheese and sauce was not up to par anymore. Thus far the new owners have completely renovated the place, I over heard one of them saying that they did not want to have the 80’s pizzeria look anymore and I have to say they are staying away from that, I cant wait to see the finishing product. The food quality has been the best since the original owners back in 2008, my favorites are the rice balls, garlic knots, grandma pizza, upside down pizza and their signature salad pizza. You can taste each and every ingredient from all plates. I have not yet tried any of their entrées but if the appetizers and slices are as good as they’ve been lately I can only imagine what there entrees taste like. They now accept credit cards, the previous owners had a wine and beer liquor license I am not sure if they have this now with the new owners.

Joe & John’s has been sitting on the corner of Myrtle Avenue with me passing them by for the last 3 years since the Pizza went down hill long ago, but… looks like things are up and coming with New Owners /Management who is bringing in fresh new talent and much better tasting Pizza and Pasta dishes. Thus far I haven’t had a lot off of the new menu as of yet so can’t give them a full 5 stars but with all the new additions to the menu and the upcoming Beer & Wine Bar coming in January I’m sure they’ll be a solid 5 and will update accordingly. So Far things are pretty Good! First Impressions & see below… Pizza is fresh with a crisp crust, tangy sauce and delicious and aside from your standard Pizza they’re also serving up many different Gourmet Pizza options(I’ve yet to try) Linguine /Sausage & Garlic — Pasta done al dente is always a hit with me in a light Olive and Garlic oil — Very good and would definitely get this again Fried Calamari — Perfect with a few Green Peppers — Definitely a re-order for me! Rice Ball Appetizer — Crisp on the outside, fresh, warm and moist on the inside — Good Stuff The new owners are friendly & very personable, open for thoughts and suggestions and introduced a brand new extensive restaurant style menu. Debit & Credit cards are welcome here.

Really great pizza! I come by with the family when we’re in the mood for pizza, and this place doesn’t disappoint. I love the large pie with extra cheese and pepperoni. Yeah the place doesn’t have a ac in the summer but that’s when I take it home. Highly recommended.

This place is just plain nasty. Pizza is awful probably the most disappointing slice I have ever eaten. Pizza tasted under cooked and was drowned in Tomato. Pizza had no crunch as I had to chew it like gum. I went to this place cause they had been at this spot for ever but this now makes me wonder how in the world do they survive at this spot serving such garbage food.

VERYRUDE over the phone… idiots in person. Called to order just for myself 1 person about a $ 10 order and all I said was I want the $ 6.50 buffalo wings in my sweetest voice and I got chastised«oh, no we wont’ deliver to you for just a $ 5 order, it’s 15 dollars SOOCONDESCENDING(it was starting at a $ 6.50 for that alone.» when I live ONEBLOCKAWAY in a wealthy building BUTNOOO, they PREFER rudeness for NOREASON. He COULD upsold me like«hey, why not make it a larger order etc» before yelling at my order. I called back and told him off, I really liked their food but they lost a customer, I will tell me whole building that they are STUCKUPANDRUDE for no reason! I was depressed today at work and there is NO need to treat people like that! And it’s a million degrees in there with no AC, cheap!

Unhealthy, unhygienic, unfriendly are the three words that come to my mind. The owner acts like he owns the city or something. Dirty hands after sweeping and cleaning go straight to the food you order. Condescending looks are all you will get here. The food is ok though. Bunch of idiots with no etiquettes whatsoever(unless you’re a local or of their skin I guess) are running(sorry ruining) a historical family business. Sal’s pizza 2 blocks down is so much better in terms of hygiene and courtesy!

The people there are really nice for the most part. The pizza quality really varies over day and on who actually makes the pizza for you. Their plane pizza’s can sometimes be really good with nice and sweet sauce and glorious crust, but sometimes you also get this slice the size of a thumb with little sauce and slightly burnt. It happens rarely, but it does happen. Their chicken rolls are also hit or miss, sometimes they are really really friggen good, especially with the sauce they use in the pizza’s, but sometimes you get some thin thing with barely anything in it. Their sicilians are usually really good even towards the end of the day when only left overs are left behind. If you order to go then there is almost always a seat where you can sit and wait for your order, and they are pretty much always quick. So, it really depends. Sometimes you get really really good pizza from there, but sometimes you get some weird thing that should be twice as big. But I feel their good far outweighs the occasional bad slice/roll. My one issue with them is that for the price you should always get good pizza. I believe it’s $ 4.00 dollars for a chicken roll, with each slice and sicilian costing about $ 2.50. If you get on their good side they even offer to make you a chicken roll if none are available! Sadly their old owners sold the business to probably retire(they were super nice) and the new management is having the place slowly dip in quality. The previous owners would always say hello when you came in and smile and the whole deal, but the new people are also hit or miss, just like their pizza.

What’s not to dislike? Poor service, cruel to the elderly and handicapped, mediocre Italian food in a city with 9zillion pizza joints… The food is unremarkable. The place is almost always empty. But I don’t think it is the food keeping people away. It is what passes for«Service» that drives people from their door. I actually witnessed them turning away an elderly lady using a walker who wanted to use the restroom before ordering. The people that work here are just plain nasty. If you queue up for a slice and one of their friends or someone they know comes in you get shoved to the back of the line. And by line, I mean after that person. Because there is never too long of a line.

I still pine for the old signage. I’m hoping it’s still under the new tacky crappy sign and they relent and go back to the old classic. The pizza is ok.

The vintage pizza sign has been replaced with some modern tacky Adobe-designed catastrophe. Some people should not be allowed to use Photoshop and Illustrator. Now they have that new sign, it just fucked everything up.

I can’t comment on the dine-in experience, since I’ve only had delivery. But I think that Joe & John’s will be a once-er for me. I ordered two pies on the phone, but only one was delivered to my door. The delivery guy was gracious and asked me to call in the order again. No problem, I said, it happens. But the person on the phone was less gracious: not only did he *insist* that I had ordered just one pizza; he lectured me on precisely *how* to order two pizzas from his establishment(as if I’d be eager to do so again?!). Then when the second pizza arrived– long after the first pizza had cooled– it was at full price. I don’t think it was ridiculous to expect perhaps a small discount or at least an apology for the error, but NO, according Joe&John the problem is mine for not knowing how to properly order two pizzas from their restaurant. Oh, yeah, and the pizza had cardboardy crust. The sauce and the toppings were tasty enough. But I won’t be back because I only need to hear the«How To Order TWO Pizzas» lecture once. I would, however, like to offer the management of Joe&John’s free enrollment in Customer Service 101, in which participants learn to take responsibility for their errors, say sorry, and attempt to right the situation.

Total time warp of a place. The décor is virtually unchanged since I first set foot in the place around 1973. They play CBS-FM on a scratchy-sounding radio, and it just fits to hear low-fi Jimmy Buffett as you sit here for pizza. Thankfully, the recipe has also remained the same for going on 40 years. The sicilian pizza, with sauce on top, is one of the cornerstones of my diet as a youngster, and every time I come here I am instantly taken back to simpler times.
