Clearly this is my summer review. This place is cool. Just didnt expect it to be like a literal picnic area. BUT, BUT! The food is yummy and so is the beer selection. Bathroom area when I visited was cool. Nice setting. Nice crowd Hard to find front entrance… but overall will recommend and will be back.

Love this place! It’s great to have a well priced, relaxed, and outdoor bar here in the neighborhood! FYI — It does not open at 2 pm on Fridays, contrary to what Unilocal says. It opens at 4!

It took about 15 minutes to get there on the L from Union Square, followed by an approximate 5 – 10 minute walk. It’s not hard to find with the assistance of a mobile device, but it’s definitely off the beaten path compared to a typical night out in NYC. First thing I noticed was the overall pleasantness of the staff. It’s also a very laid back atmosphere. It feels like you’re at a backyard party somewhere upstate — picnic tables, burgers, hot dogs, beer, wine, etc. A casual ambiance and a quality experience, especially compared to wannabe«hot-spots» that are able to mask the poor quality of the staff and service. Bring a deck of cards and don’t miss out on the Ping Pong. Would recommend 100% for casual get-togethers with a group friends.

I’ll get this out of the way. This place is far AF. That aside, it’s almost like getting out of the city. It’s not crowded, it’s big, and if you’re willing to get beers deep it’s really fun. Lots of sun, grace, SPACE. A ping pong table. I went for a friends birthday last weekend and had a great time. The beers are relatively inexpensive and we got to play on the ping pong table a bunch. There have the weird upscale porta-potty things. Didn’t get a chance to try the food. So, next time.

I had the loveliest birthday party at Nowadays on a Saturday afternoon in July. Plenty of space, grass to roll around on, dogs to pet, great food and drinks(fun bartenders) and generally #great #vibes. 10/10, would birthday again.

Wedged between a reclaimed building materials business, a motorcycle/tire shop, freight train tracks and a crazy-loud alcapurrias food truck, you’ll find Nowadays as a testament to the gentrification that is sweeping Bushwick. The grill food options are cooked to perfection and might make you think you’ve stumbled upon a friend’s awesome BBQ … if your friend had the largest backyard imaginable. For Rhode Islanders who miss their neck of the woods, you won’t believe your eyes when you see that Narragansett Beer /Del’s Lemonade Shandy is on the excellent and expertly curated beer menu. For everyone else, you’ll wonder why you don’t live in Rhode Island after consuming a six-pack. A concrete, all-weather Ping-Pong table and several picnic tables and benches complement the manicured gravel-and-grass grounds, and umbrellas provide respite from the summer heat. No doubt the air-conditioned bathroom trailer does too! For all the parents in the area, you’ll be thankful they open early and that there’s only one entrance, so you can make sure your mini-me doesn’t wander off to explore the otherwise mostly industrial neighborhood. Having lived here seven years, I couldn’t have imagined a better addition to the neighborhood. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Great hidden gem, good food, good music, and they have some gluten free options if your into that. Great selection of games to play, dogs are welcome which is awesome and apparently you can bring your kids which is different. Came on a friday night with some friends got a table right away and everyone agreed this spot was worthy of five stars. Big pickles…

Tried the fries and bbq pulled pork. It was good however the bread was soggy — toast it, maybe? Also the hibiscus mint was amaze-balls! Bring bug spray and sunscreen though! I’ll be back :)

If American music festivals had a tract of land in Bushwick this would be the quintessence of Nowadays. Tents flank the two walls that delivery eats and drinks like sentinels and with the same attitude. Do not get your hopes dashed by their dismissive attitude. The order will be hot and fresh with a stern delivery by the chef. PS they don’t have MAYO. That’s BYOM here. The bartender has the same attitude but the can is cold and the brat and burger was hot and of quality! The buns on both were soft, white, and fresh(kinda like the people ;) and the side salad was garden fresh arugula, with red onion, chick peas, and lots of vinaigrette! We will come back frequently until we morn the loss in the winter.

Don’t tell the hipsters about this place. It’s great, you can get alcohol here, and I don’t have to go all the way to Bedford or Lorimer for a decent place to drink. The food is to die for. I had the burger and it was so good, their fry dipping sauce smelled amazing. Only downside is there’s a $ 10 minimum and the bar and food area are separate so you can’t put it all on one tab. And there’s no atm right near there so either bring cash or plan on drinking at least two drinks, even if it’s Sunday night. Also a little weird that children are allowed here in what feels like a potential outdoor bar. You really wouldn’t expect this cool of a place for Bushwick /Ridgewood yet.

What a bizarre, random little place. Go ahead and look up the address on Google street view – I’ll wait. Do you see a weird warehouse? Yeah, that’s not it. Do you see a shiny, corrugated fence next to that warehouse? Guess what’s on the other side? Nowadays! When you actually pass through the gate, you’re greeted with a little oasis that’s actually quite pleasant. They accept cards, which is a plus already. They also have some food offerings as well as some delicious fountain soda, which makes the lack of any beer on tap even more peculiar(unless I was misinformed?). I’d imagine that this location is out of the way for most people not in Bushwick or Ridgewood, but if you happen to be in the area and want a cool place to grab some shade, go for it. The really nice folks at the bar told me they wanted to start up a movie night, and I think that would be the most amazing thing. Fingers crossed for that! Nowadays, you’re pretty good. I hope things take off for you.

Über chill and fun and so in my neighborhood. I love how I can roam around and visit where the bikes are parked, sit on the grassy knoll(there are literally grassy mounds in the middle of the space), and not be elbow to elbow with a neighbor on a bench(unlike other beer gardens). Affordable beers(6 dollars a pop). This will be one of my summer hang-out spots.

Really awesome place feels like a big communal Back yard. They stop serving food at 1230, I got there at 1240ish and the guy gave me the last hot dog they had, was great. Beer selection is incredible!

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside actually like an abandoned lot but the inside is really cute. There’s sand on the ground & picnic tables & lights all over the trees. It’s a great place to hang out when the the weather is nice. Deff will return here.

Food and atmosphere was nice. Their manager was a bit of a nut case. He came over to us the first time to warn us about no liquor policy, so we kept that away. We didn’t do anything else except sit there chatting over beer, which we purchased from their bar. He storms over to try to pick a fight, with the bouncer next to him. There was a person explaining the situation – that we weren’t drinking liquor. Then the manager raged out wanted to kick him out and demanded an apology(he couldn’t even tell us why he wants an apology). Everyone was calm except him. Even the bouncer felt that there weren’t any issues. It’s a chill spot as long as you don’t get on the managers nerves over nothing, in which case he’ll be out to get you the entire night.

Worth the visit. Great beer at good prices. Outdoor atmosphere is very pleasant. Friendly staff and patrons. A little hard to find but that makes it more fun, makes you feel a bit special being there.

100% worth the trek(if you don’t live in BK/Queens). Beautiful, fun outdoor ‘backyard’ beer garden. We went on the 2nd day it opened, and while they still have some operational kinks to work out(food is super slow to get), it’s a gorgeous space and a unique bar experience. I definitely recommend!

Cool outdoor hangout off the beaten path(for real, you’re going to need your GPS for this one). Sandwiched in between some automotive repair shops and warehouses is Nowadays, an oasis for those that love the open air, like me! Lots of picnic tables, a drink stand, and a food stand frame this simple, no-frills yard. It’s like the urban backyard of your dreams. It’s fenced in, with geometric shapes printed on the perimeter in nice bold colors. They serve beer, sodas, burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, brats, grilled corn, and a few other things. I think everything on the menu was under $ 10 too. Check Instagram if the weather seems ify(they’ll post to let you know whether or not they’re open). Just a heads up that this venue is completely outdoors so if it starts raining, you’ll be a bit out of luck for finding cover. If it’s scorching hot there are a few umbrellas and they also have bug spray. If living in the city has you bummed on not having a backyard, think of Nowadays as your own personal oasis. There’s plenty of room for all of your friends, and the laid back atmosphere will keep you there for hours. Enjoy it before summer ends!

An awesome new beer garden in Ridgewood right in the beginning of summer. Awesome. There is a ton of tables and space to hangout on the grass. They have a lot of different beers, and specials and also have a «beat» burger for the vegetarians. This place has only been opened for two-three days and it’s been very crowded with a people traveling from other neighborhoods joining in on the fun. Def check this place out if you’re looking for a cool beer garden.
