I love this place. It’s not fancy or great ambiance for a first date. The atmosphere is not impressive. Actually, it looks almost like a cafeteria. Yet, the seafood is outstanding. There’s nothing fancy here, just the basics. But if you’re in the mood for a perfectly steamed lobster, delicious steamed clams, lobster bisque with real chunks of lobster you can actually see that it is real lobster, or several other seafood items, this is the perfect casual seafood place. And the prices are probably the lowest in the area for seafood. Summary: if you’re not concerned with impressing someone with ambiance, and you want great New England style seafood at a very affordable price, GOHERE! BTW, they’re listed on restaurant(dot)com.

Horrible. Food was average to poor. Service was awful. They didn’t have items that were on their limited menu and absolutely no desserts. Oh, and by the way, we were the only people in the place at 6:30 and no one else came in. Should have been a clue. Skip this place.

I purchased a Groupon voucher because the picture of the lobster roll reminded me of Luke’s in NYC(5 stars). My voucher gave me $ 40 towards dinner but upon arriving I found out it only covered 5 things on the menu such as lobster roll($ 17 + $ 2 extra for fries) and lobster mac & cheese. To reach the $ 40 I ordered the lobter roll with fries, lobster mac and cheese and calm chowder. It is a Friday night and they have no fries or desert. The clam chowder was watery. The lobster roll was not toasted and had too much mustard. The mac and cheese was very good but needs more lobster. My husband ordered steak and lobster. Not the best cut of meat but he enjoyed it(they cook it in a soy sauce) the lobster was on the small size but matched the price and was tasty. Hope this helps!

I made my visit to this cute little restaurant for a late lunch. The restaurant was filled with me and another party. The service is fast. The menu is simple. The ambience is very casual. It’s ideal for families, friends and meetings. The music is quintessentially Jersey with Rock legends like Bruce Springsteen and other soothing sounds in the background. I ordered a house salad for $ 9. It’s served with the house dressing which is a ginger vinaigrette. My main entrée was the lobster roll for $ 16. I added French fries for an additional $ 2. The food was fresh and good. As I was eating the roll, I did catch a bite of shell. I told my waitress and she had it inspected and assured me there was no other pieces of shell in the sandwich. I appreciated her quick assistance. Overall, the place was good minus my incident. All the seafood is delivered daily from Maine. It’s a cute spot and if you’re in the area of Ridgewood and in the mood for a fresh catch at a great price, I’d come to WA Lobster for a calm, Jersey experience.

Hard to describe the experience we had. Every portion of our meal came out at different times, with kids meals last. Ordered Lobster with Clams, the steamed clams came out separately, served with Cocktail Sauce! No broth, No butter, Cocktail Sauce. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. What a shame. $ 150 for 3 adults and 2 small kids. We should have known when no one else was there. Our waitress was really nice but couldn’t make up for the disaster around us. I try not to write bad reviews, but I hope they take this to heart and turn it around.

Would not honor Gift Certificate for lobster specials. NEWPOLICYTHEYSAID, But did in the past. Had steamed clams which were nearly the size of a dime. One waitress for all the tables. Have been there many times but it is slowly going down hill. Michael J.

Lobster Bisque was OK. A little too salted, crab legs were fine and my wife really enjoyed her lobster roll and fries. Service is pretty much non excitant and music in background could use a tune up. As stated in prior reviews we where the only ones dining. All in all food was average don’t think I’d go back.

Food: just fine to ok. Good info on snow crab and king crab. This was delicious. Sides were luke warm, vegetables overcooked. Don’t order meat, stay with the sea food. Waitress very nice and helpful. Very extensive menu, which again makes me wonder about freshness versus frozen. We were the only table in the restaurant! Which is a real shame since the food wasn’t that bad. The place has potential, but it looks like a Mac Do snack bar. Put your lobster in full sight in a tank in the restaurant, get rid of the theatre curtains(no idea why they are there), decorate the walls with ocean, water, boats –related ornaments and give some coziness and character to the place. Put candles on the tables, bring atmosphere to make the place inviting and welcoming. Remove tv screens w dishes offered on the menu, it looks tacky and is so not necessary. Total makeover, some extra culinary training on meat and sides and this place could be rocking. Real shame.

Great Lobster & Clams Combo menu for $ 25. One of the best clams I had in a while. BYOB should take beer or wine.

Not worth the price. First, let me start by saying that we(myself and 2 of my friends) went there on a Thursday night at 7:20 and we were the only people there, and no other customers came in the entire time we were there, which was until about 9:15 when they actually started to turn the lights off while we were talking, I guess to signal that it was time for us to go? We were seated by the girl who was also our server for the evening, and as soon as we sat we mentioned that we had the voucher from , she said no problem she’ll take it at the end. Fast forward real quick, when the check came and we gave her the coupon she told me she could not accept it because they are no good on Thursdays because they recently changed the promotion… and then proceeded to point out the small print on the coupon, which none of us had realized earlier. We asked if she could make an exception since we were under the impression that we could use it and she said NO… I’ll get back to this. We sat, had our wine opened and started looking at the menus. We all remarked that the place was clean and the décor was nice. but totally empty. We were kind of distracted by the Snoop Dog song that was blasting from the waitresses IPod a few feet away. which was followed by a stream of obnoxious dining room innaporopriate rap music. We finally asked her to change it and I guess she did, to a Jackson Five CD. ok, not as bad as the rap and still way to loud. Finally after about 20 minutes another waitress lowered it and put some light FM type music on. There didn’t seem to be a grown up present and I guess the waitresses were running the show. The food… we all started with the lobster bisque, which was in fact very good. It took a few minutes to come out because she explained they were steaming fresh lobster for it, and we didnt mind waiting! She brought us some pretty decent bread while we waited. The soup came out and it was worth it, there were nice big chunks of lobster and the broth was very tasty. Next came the salads, they were fresh and definitely had a lot of veggies on them, decent size too. For our entrees we decided to get one of the single lobster with 2 dozen clams dinner and the twin lobster with 2 dozen clams dinner, since it worked out to cost less doing it that way instead of ordering three separate lobsters. we traded the baked potatoes for the salads… The lobsters were… lobster. Theres really not much you can say about steamed lobster, they were fine, nothing special, ok size. The clams were meh… nothing special there either, maybe even a little dry. Overall the food was decent, nothing that totally wowed us but nothing awful either… I think it is overpriced. We go to Pub 199 often for the same seafood dinners and they are way better, less expensive, and the place is always lively and packed… The fact that noone else ate there at all that night is a bit of a turnoff. I would normally at this point chalk it up to a one and done and bank on never returning. but I still have the $ 25 voucher that I could’nt use on my first visit! I truly think it was wrong of her to not tell us it was no good on Thursday when we asked her as she was seating us. it makes no sense to know we have it, see it sitting there, and wait until you present the check to tell us it’s no good. And honestly it kind of pissed me off. I will go back one more time to use the coupon and update my review in the unforseen event that the place is noticably better the next time I am there. This restaurant could definitely benefit from an experienced manager or owner running the show instead of kids. Lower the innapropriate music, know your promotions, and never ever start to turn the lights off as a signal for people to leave, especially if its before your advertised closing time… its not a bar. I usually expect dining out in Ridgewood to be a better experience… Especially since there are so many better places to choose from. Save your money.

The minute we walked into the place we knew we were taking a chance. It was a Friday and the place is 25percent full. One waitress trying her best. Lobster bisque was just awful and watery. Shrimp salad was really lame. The clams were ok and steamed lobster was steamed lobster. Can’t mess that up. The baked potato was lukewarm at best. There is a reason why the place is offering a nice discount on . Oh I forgot my glass was filthy. Stay away. Trust me.

Very good food, service, and nice décor. New england clam chowder and lobster bisque has a great taste. Calamari was nice, light and tasty. Good specials twin lobster and 2 dozens of clams for $ 45 was a great special. As long they cook the lobster right, its very juicy and fresh. I would say they need improvement on marketing to get more customers. Its not too comfortable if there aren’t much customers, however they are missing g out a good seafood place. Highly recommended!

We were looking for a place to have a lobster nearby home and found this place online. Very surprised that it was not more crowded on a Saturday night. The lobster bisque soup was delicious and loaded with fresh lobster meat; the 21⁄2 lb. lobster was prepared perfectly! Quiet, nice atmosphere and very good service made for a wonderful evening. We will definitely go back. It’s a byo, which keeps the tab down. These folks need to get the word out that they are there! Completely satisfied :)

Very unassuming from the outside. But the food was delicious! I got the surf and turf(hello lobster tail!) and split the mussels and clams with my sister as an appetizer. The food was very fresh and delicious! I hope the next time I go will be as equally memorable.

Came here on Sunday afternoon and there was only one table with people… not a good sign but we tried it anyway. Instead of bread they serve biscuits which is very weird for a seafood place. The biscuit had no taste as well as the lobster. The steamers weren’t bad but the lobster had no seasoning. Won’t go back!

Wa Lobster is a great place! Clean, modern, comfortable interior and fast service make for an enjoyable visit. The food is fresh and cooked properly, but what really stands out is the value. I was thrilled with my nice sized lobster and two pounds of steamed clams + side for $ 24! I’m a bit worried about this place… I’d love for it to stick around and thrive, but Ridgewood’s a tough area(lots of competition, finicky crowd). It hasn’t clearly delineated itself in terms of food genre. There’s a mix of typical American seafood with a spattering of Korean and Italian entrees. That may be confusing some of the less flexible diners in the area who glance at the menu in the window when trying to decide on a restaurant. In addition to the lobster and steamers we had the seafood pasta. We were very pleased with portion and flavor of that dish as well. Believe it or not Wa Lobster’s chef did a better job w/this classic dish than some local Italian restaurants have done(based on our past experiences). Not sure how the Korean food is, but streamlining the menu may be helpful. This restaurant’s strong suit is clearly seafood and I hope to be able to return to try that lobster roll. Of note, lobster bisque was flavored well with generous chunks of lobster but the broth was too thin. Also, the bacon baked potato left something to be desired(a little dried out and too much maple flavor to the bacon). Other than that, we were pleased and would recommend to anyone looking for a solid seafood meal at a very, very reasonable price.

Had the Lobster and clam combo and the amount of clams they give you is really a great deal. A few in the group ordered various fish dishes and they were all rubbery, over cooked and bland. The lobster and clams are probably the best and safest bet here. Strangely our group of 8 were the only ones in the restaurant, so we were given plenty of attention. And it looked like there was only 1 woman working the entire restaurant. All of the 5 star reviews look a little suspicious to me… just saying.

I returned on a whim and because I always like to give a place a couple of tries before passing on it altogether. Prices went up, service stayed the same and food quality was the same if not lower than last go around. Out side they were also drilling wells in the street to delineate the extent of some toxins that apparently originated from the old dry cleaner where Wa is now. The noise made it hard to enjoy lunch. Will try again. Like the old ball game though three strikes and your out of this guys lunch rounds… There is a reason it’s now closed. It was horrible

We went to try the Lobster Bisque and this review is only based on that… Place was really quiet when we swung by on a weekend — no eat-in customers. Liked the décor. We ordered the bisque based on previous reviews after looking at their menu. We got half the amount of bread slices a previous reviewer mentioned — and they were SMALL. The bisque tasted great, but both our tummies didn’t feel so good after eating just the bisque… we’ve had lobster bisque at other places before without any problems. It was ok, but we probably won’t come back since we can order similar things elsewhere for less.
