So so busy. Best selection for a grocery store in the area. Close to the MA boarder so a gazillion people from Mass are always shopping here. Not a ton of parking being combined with the other stores but there is usually enough turn over to get in and out. One of the nice things about this location is that they staff plenty of people up front so instead of seeing a line of 5 – 7 people waiting to check out like shaws you usually have 1 – 2. Carts are almost never left in the lot of that long. The deli area is usually a mob scene.

Never again! Far too many people in this store at all times. I don’t understand the story setup and can never find what I’m looking for!

Those of us who grew up in this area never imagined we would have a reasonably priced alternative to Stop and Shop or Hannaford right in our own back yard, but thankfully the day has come! Beautiful new store with all the amenities of the other newer stores such as a café, fresh sushi station, and an area dedicated to cooking foods for people to sample. Nothing but great things to say about this Market Basket, and everyone is looking forward to all the other stores and restaurants planning to open in the plaza.

We’ve been shopping at the Rindge Market Basket for over five years now, and while the customer service has never been great, lately the teen employees have been so brazenly rude, that I think it’s time to start shopping somewhere else. The majority of the employees are deluded millenials that have evolved out of the ability to engage in a normal human interaction. They have no clue about customer service, how to treat a customer, what is inappropriate to say to a customer. The employees will walk right in front of customers without saying«excuse me», and expect customers to get out of their way. Most of these kids either need to be re-trained or fired. A few weeks ago, we were shopping and the kid running the floor washer came barreling right at us, doesn’t say excuse me or anything, just stares like we have three heads and pushes right through us. Hey rude idiot, say excuse me. Then I go in there a few days later, and I had to deal with the following exchange with one of the smarmy dip-shit teen cashiers: Cashier: Do you know this lettuce is organic? Me: Yes Cashier: Oh, OK, you just don’t look like the sort of person that would be buying organic, no offense.“ Um, yes, your ignorance is offensive. Then she tries to drop some knowledge on me. Some sage, teenage wisdom: Cashier: Iceberg lettuce doesn’t have any vitamins you know? Me: I’m not trying to get healthy with this, I’m just trying to get my BLT on. Hey Twilight, I don’t need nutritional advice from a tween cashier wearing too much eye liner that’s young enough to be my kid. You should just keep your mouth shut and attempt to do your job correctly. And you never say«you don’t look like the type that would [insert action] no offense» to a customer. It is rude, ignorant, discriminatory, and unacceptable. So after these two incidents, I decide to call the store director and let him know about the issues. He thanked me, and assured me he would address them with his employees. He also told me that employees are suppose to power down the floor machine and wait for customers to be finished. Flash to today. Were in there shopping. Same kid comes down the aisle with the floor machine as my girlfriend is grabbing something from a shelf, she didn’t see him, and he barely stops before hitting her, doesn’t say a word and just stares at her. Same kid. Really? So I go the service desk and ask for the store manager, tell him that I already called the store director last week about this same situation and the same kid is still out there being pushy with floor machine. The manager apologized and said that after my call they talked to employees and he would talk to him again. It’s pretty apparent that the store director and the managers at this Market Basket location do not have control over their pubescent staff, which last time I checked, is their job. I shouldn’t have to deal with rude teenagers every time I shop there. The bottom line is, if money’s tight, I guess go to Market Basket. The prices are great, but the rude employees will wear on you after a while if you shop there regularly. If you have the extra money, and you just want to relax when you do your shopping and not encounter rude millenial life turds lurking around every corner, shooting their mouths off and running you down with the floor washer every time you shop, go some where else.

Pros: The cheapest groceries around. Clean & well-lit. Quiet if you get here before 9 am. Items rarely ring up incorrectly. Good selection of gluten-free & Bob’s Red Mill products. Decent organics selection. Cons: Insanely busy after 9 am on weekends & most week days. TONS of customers from Mass come up & park lousy. Because the food is so cheap, if you’re here during their busy time, it’s not really the highest quality clientele. Customers will leave their carts blocking up the entire isle even when it’s swamped, they’re just that oblivious. The organics are spread out throughout the store, they’re not all in one area. They have zero vegan products. The cashiers in the 12 items or less line NEVER tell customers who clearly have MORE than 12 items to leave the line. A woman in front of me once had 40+ items in the express line, her order totaled $ 130+, & the cashier said nothing to her. The cashiers gossip with each other and/or the baggers about other people who work there in front of the customers. SOTACKY. If you have a coupon, the cashier is probably going to turn her nose up(even more). If they take a coupon that they weren’t supposed to take, it comes out of their paycheck so they are really anal about it, even if it’s a clearly a real coupon(seriously, who is going to try to scam them out of 50 cents or $ 1? — they«know» me, I’m there all of the time, I dress nicely, I’m not poor white trash on gov’t assistance, I have all of my teeth, clearly I’m not trying to scam them). The cashiers are only mildly polite, if they even give you that much. The baggers will mess up your groceries, even if you put them in neat piles organized on the belt: freezer items, fridge items, shelf-stable stuff, personal care & cleaning products, etc. The older gentleman who works in the produce dept(very tall & slightly overweight) is a GRUMP! I smiled at him one morning, he GRIMACED at me. SERIOUSLY guy? You hate your job, I get it. Not my fault. I still recommend this place because they’ve got the cheapest groceries around.
