A Ripon man on Tuesday pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns and faces a maximum sentence of three years in federal prison and $ 250,000 fine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento reported.
Sarad Chand, 62, was convicted of assisting in the preparation of a false income tax return. Chand also agreed to a permanent injunction, banning him from preparing or filing federal tax returns for anyone other than himself.
Chand prepared tax returns from an office in Ripon under the name S. Chand Tax & Accounting Service Inc. Federal prosecutors said he helped his clients obtain large tax refunds by falsifying deductions and credits on their returns. The false tax returns caused the government to lose $ 38,932 in tax revenue over a period of more than four years.
Chand is scheduled to be sentenced June 16.

Like everyone on here has said, do not go here!!!
First of all I just want to start out by saying that I wanted to pay someone to do my taxes because I don’t really know all the details and would rather pay someone to help me out… Isn’t that what this service is for?
I went to this guy 2 years in a row (09 – 10) with the recommendation of a friend. Even though I made an appointment, it really didnt matter because I always had to wait at least 3 hrs to be seen. At the time, I thought «oh this must mean he’s really good and knows what he’s doing». I was really happy with my returns for both of those years and thought that it was legit since I was still a full time student, involved with a lot of charity work (donations to write off), and frequently gave toy church so I never questioned the amount I got back from state and federal. I assumed he knew something I didn’t and was able to write off more for me from the things I told him. About 1 ½ yrs later some of my friends began to get audited and I never thought I was since I still thought my paperwork was legit… Wrong!!! Sure enough he lied on my documents too! When I reviewed my paperwork (20 something pages) he had said I donated construction equipment and drove 12k miles on my car for work. Wtf?!? First of all, what the hell am I doing with construction equipment and I didn’t even put 12k miles on my car for the year. I know I should have been smart and read what I signed but I trusted him with my paperwork since he had all of my info and I was paying him… Not cheap either. I was audited for about $ 5000 federal for the 2 yrs and recently audited again for one of the same years for state.
I don’t know how this guy is still in business for tax fraud. He not only is making money from the service he charges but getting a cut of a percentage from your returns… Essentially the higher the return, they higher the cut he’ll get.
I know this guy was arrested last year for tax fraud and was set for bail but just seems like a slap on the wrist. He has caused so much stress for everyone he has filed. I know people that he filed for that owe over 20k to the IRS due to this shady mofo.
He should be behind bars for a long time with heavy fines if you ask me.
Lesson has definitely been learned and from now on just go to h&r for peace of mind.

I couldn’t agree more with these reviews. He is a SCAM. He lied on all of my forms without me knowing and I got audited by the IRS (along with 6 other people I know who went to him) and now owe a TON of money. Please report him to the IRS as I did. He won’t be able to keep this up much longer. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE.

Before I share what happened to me and others I know: 1. the service is slow as hell, prepare to wait up to 3 – 4 hours. 2. Don’t bother making an appointing, just show up. 3. Not friendly, rude, eats while working, takes breaks while you’re sitting there waiting for him to finish. 4. Hard to reach if something goes wrong. Mailbox always full. Don’t expect an email reply.
I went there in November of 2010. Made an appointment to amend my taxes for a better refund, it took 3 hours to get to me and finish my paperwork. A month went by, the check never came. Called IRS, apparently, they never received it. Went back to them paid for another copy, mailed it in, two months went by, no check. Received a letter from IRS, asking for proof. Stupid me made another appointment, waited another three hours sitting there. Asked them what happened, the guy said they just «needed more paper work.» They just reprinted another copy of the tax form. I looked! Another month goes by, received another letter from IRS telling me to sign some documents to confirm that I have no proof and to continue with my amendment. I called S Chand and he says, it’s «normal» I will get my refund and not to worry. It’s now end of June, still waiting for IRS.
The paperwork/​form they give you to mail is a lie. BTW, they don’t let you see the whole tax doc. They seal it up. I opened the sealed envelope they gave me to find out it’s all bogus claims as the other reviewers suggest. I know too many people who went to them, some were successful in lying to IRS and some unlucky few as myself are in limbo. Go at your own risk! They do not refund, they will only «fix» what they did wrong. Be warned. I’m in the process of reporting their @sses!!!

Be prepared to wait in a line long as heck for this guy. When pulling up to the building, people had been waiting there already upwards of an hour because nobody was even in the office at all! How are you going to set appointments for people, charge them money for your services and then not show up to your own office on time? Never coming back here again.
