I absolutely love this little sushi joint! Living in River Ridge, Taste of Tokyo is super convenient for me. I was so excited to have a fantastic restaurant move into the neighborhood! They have tons of options of not only great sushi but a variety of other choices like noodle dishes, soups, salads, kids menu and desserts! The sushi is always fresh and with a variety of rolls you can definitely try something new every time you go. They also have a few special rolls of the day which they post on the board along with drink specials! A few of my favorites are the Valero roll, big easy roll, and Utah roll. I can’t wait to venture into some of the other ones that sound amazing! They are also great at customizing your rolls. I tend to add a little something here and there to satisfy cravings, usually cream cheese! Yum! Taste of Tokyo has my two thumbs up! The staff here is amazing! Super friendly and accommodating! You can tell they enjoy working there which makes me enjoy dining in or just picking up a quick bite to eat when I want to be lazy at home!

River Ridge is so lucky to have a Sushi restaurant of this quality. I was greeted by a super friendly hostess named Alex. To my surprise I was instantly served a free cup of miso soup. The no name roll was very fresh. Oh wait I forgot to mention how great the tuna avocado appetizer was. The owner Gary came to my table and introduced himself. Nice owners. Great food.

It was recommended by a friend. Definitely the best place to eat sushi in the New Orleans area. I would recommend that people make the drive for this place. Very friendly and on point staff. Food quality and restaurant atmosphere was great. You want find a better tasting sushi around. Me and 3 friends ordered 6 different rolls and enjoyed all. I usually take some home to eat later that evening but that wasn’t happening. To great of taste to put in a to go box.

By far my favorite sushi place, ever. The sushi is amazing, the staff is wonderful, the prices are just right for the quality of what you get. The staff always remembers a familiar face, I’ve brought countless friends and family members here, especially if it was their first time for sushi… Might as well start them off right! When sushi is the lunch or dinner choice, TOT is the place to go! Even when they’re busy, we’ve never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated. The staff is attentive and on top of everything, from the hostess’ to the bussers to the cooks and servers. Awesome job, guys.

Currently, this is my favorite place to get sushi in Metairie. The menu is full of unique rolls. My favorite is the Devil Roll. It looks harmless but it packs a spicy kick.

Best volcano roll I’ve ever had… In my life! It was an amazing freshly made roll, with a gigantic heap of crab meat on top, all smothered in these addictive crunches and spicy sauces. The mixture of sweet, salty, spicy, crunchy, creamy(avocado), and the very generous helping of sauce and toppings made this roll so good you’ll be sad when it’s over! I almost licked the plate! And by the way, walked out of there with a roll and glass of wine for around $ 15 bucks and the service was fast and super attentive. If I lived in New Orleans, this would be my home away from home!

For a little spot this place is a hidden treasure. They have the most extensive menu that I have seen in quite some time. There are choices for sushi as well as non-sushi eaters. No matter the varied taste of your dining group there is something for everyone on this menu. The service was great and several members of the staff checked in with us to inquire if our meal was being enjoyed. I would recommend this restaurant to all, the young, old, & the finicky.

Just ate there, and it was soooo delicious! Such a great variety, and the service is so fast and thorough, the second a plate was cleared someone came to pick it up. We briefly met the owner, and he is so welcoming! Will definitely be eating here regularly.

I am super picky when it comes to my sushi so after trying out all the sushi restaurants around the area of New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, and who knows where else, I found a tucked away gem in a beautiful neighborhood of river ridge. I absolutely love their innovative sushi rolls like the upside down roll and not to mention the pages of different rolls you can choose from. I’ve tried a variety of their rolls and it never gets boring — there’s always something new. I’m also a huge sweet tooth so when I saw that they had a CLOUD9 dessert?(Didn’t know what it was, but the name of it got me) it was the perfect balance of something fluffy(like a cloud) and sweet with the perfect amount of drizzled sauce on top. I always have to order the cloud 9 to top off my meal — no matter how full I am. Oh and if anyone is a huge salad eater like me, TRYTHEAMYSALAD! It’s so good! :) sadly I always finish my food before I take photos — so I’ll try next time to capture the salad — it’s definitely a must try if you like fresh ingredients and lots of crunchy bits of veggies in them. Not to mention that the sauce has a perfect balance of something spicy and savory. I’d like to end this review by saying that the customer service always exceeds my expectations. They’re always busy when I go for dinner and even though all the servers have so many people to tend to — they are always attentive and ask if I ever need anything refilled, if I’d like to try something new(they always make awesome recommendations), the hostesses are actively greeting you and saying goodbye while they’re multi-tasking with 5 other things. I love the atmosphere and the food. I give them 5 stars

We love this local place. The service is always great, the food is very good, and the price is the same price you pay for sushi all over town(except here it’s worth it!). This restaurant has more than just sushi rolls, and you can even order smaller dishes to get out of here without feeling a hit to your wallet. This place is great for a quick stop for a solo meal, a date, or dinner with a group. Leave room for dessert, too!

Delicious. Sushi is always fresh, Gyoza is always cooked well(a lot of places burn the dumplings) and have excellent sauce, and the chicken hibachi is very well seasoned. It’s a little too pricey for me to eat very often, but you get what you pay for. I typically call in a to go order, so I don’t have much to say service-wise.

… it was worth the 45 min drive. seriously. first thing our server said was«did y’all really just drive all the way out here for sushi?» umm not just any sushi… Taste of Tokyo’s. It was worth it –queues Fifth Harmony«Worth It» chorus-. So anyways, we were actually short on time bc we had to meet w/friends at the movie theater so we couldn’t order the awesome things we wanted to but the what the server recommended was still so good. We had the scallop appetizer with spinach, baked mussels, pepper tina sashimi, and some roll that the server plated with fire in the center like shazaaaam! think it might be the Kenny Roll or something idk it was bomb. I posted the pics on Unilocal so y’all can check it out. OMG… it was alll so good. I wanna come back again! And of course, the service was excellent. 5 stars well deserved I just wish they were closer maneeeeeeee.

I’m not a huge fan of sushi, but I actually eat it at a Taste of Tokyo and enjoy it. Everything I’ve eaten here was excellent. The staff is attentive and fun to socialize with. My favorite items: Shrimptini Baked Salmon Upside Down Roll Combination yaki udon Cloud 9 dessert(when in stock) There aren’t really words to explain each dish, they’re just items you should try for yourself.

I worked here and ate here many times before and the food was EXCELLENT! I would so pigged out during my breaks and after I got out off of the work. Sushi are freshly made, clean, precise & delicious! The sushi here are different from other sushi places bc they would make/invent new rolls and have people try it out. Entrees & appetizer are also very good as well. The last time I ate here was 3 years ago. So I went back to TOT recently and the food is still good, BUT the staff(hostess & busboys) were kind of rude. They didn’t give us any warm welcoming, but instead stares. o.0 the food is still good, but new staff members are a no no! But I will come back tho. ^____^

This place is definitely one of the best sushi places I have been to. It is definitely the best I have been to in New Orleans, by far. The appetizers are diverse, and we have never had anything bad. In fact, no matter what, I am always ordering the squid steak appetizer. If you like squid, the squid steak appetizer CRUSHES. No local comparison. There are plenty of entrees, including hibachi and the like, but the sushi is the star. There are more rolls here than can reasonably be consumed. I mean, it goes on for pages. Highlights are the Garlic Lover’s Roll and the Super Bowl Roll, for sure. The specials are usually pretty great as well. The staff here is excellent. Always on top of their game, very friendly, and very helpful. Highly recommend, will be back.

Went here at around 7 ish, and there was a decent crowd here. We ordered a lot of sushi. Way too much. Lol. Appetizers: The shrimp tini was adorb and pretty tasty. The calamari was tasty as well. There was also the shrimp tempura(?). Sushi: The upside down roll, angry bird, LSU(?), and another roll were all good. Sorry I can’t remember exactly which is which. This is what happens when you don’t write the review in time. All the sushi were fresh and looked aesthetically pleasing. The service was pretty good and attentive as well. I especially like how the owner moved around and talked to the customers. Parking was plentiful since this strip wasn’t too busy when we stopped by for dinner. But it was around Christmas or on Christmas Day(again, I can’t remember – lol) so I can’t say otherwise for other times.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to review this place. Let’s start off by saying that all of the staff here is probably sick of me. They see me all of the time. I always bring in different people with me because there’s so much to try! However, if you are a first timer, here are things you need to order. MUST. Appetizer– Calamari Snowcrab(a mixture of fried calamari and Snowcrab with eel sauce drizzled over, if you like saucy get more eel sauce on the side) Shrimptini(fried shrimp tossed in a delicious, sweet, and savory sauce, served in a cute martini glass and lettuce) Rolls– UPSIDEDOWNROLL– no matter what you do, no matter what your budget, if this is the only thing you can afford then order it. It is by far the best tasting sushi I have ever had to enjoy in my life. I’ve grown up with many sushi lovers and have eaten at pretty much every sushi joint popular in Nola and Lafayette. And this is the best roll ever. As weird as it sounds, sushi rolls aren’t a highlight of many restaurants. They focus on dishes and appetizers, falling short on the taste of their rolls, no matter how nice the presentation. This sushi joint checks right with the taste, presentation, service, and overall experience. TIPS& other items to order Go on Thursday for buy one get one free hot sake. You might see me there. Birthday roll, Poboy roll, ormond roll, burning man roll, beef tataki

Soooo I returned only to be disappointed. Their prices and quality do not match. Everything we ordered was sub par. We asked the chef to create a specialty roll and he mindlessly copied a simple roll off the menu. The atmosphere was dull matching the employees attitudes. The complimentary soup was hot water with a dash of soy sauce. I won’t be back.
