Vale Bar & Grill

If you are coming here, stick to the bar area. The bartenders are great and so is their drink menu, but the dining room has gone downhill since they first opened. I went the day before Valentine’s day and did not enjoy any of my meal. The chicken milanese was bland and my boyfriend’s salmon special was too fishy for comfort.

Excellent from start to finish! Stopped at the bad for a pre dinner drink and the bartender on tonight couldn’t have been nicer! Service with a smile! I received a red flower upon checking in for our reservation and we were seated for dinner right away (even though it was a popular night for Valentine’s Day) and had a delicious meal from appetizer to desert! Can’t thank Vale Restaurant for making our Valentines Day so special!

We have been here a few times and the food is always good with a very nice staff. Erica the waitress is a doll and deserves a raise! A lively bar scene and a decent draught beer selection. Worthwhile.

This place is a great trendy spot in River Vale. Good food and great drinks. The staff was very attentive and courteous. The good was tasty, and they give generous portions. I will definitely be visiting Vale again!

Went here for nye dinner and was disappointed. The house made mozzarella did not taste house made. The chicken francese was undercooked and almost soggy. The lava cake was dry. Nothing to write home about and drinks are the only thing saving from a worse rating, but still not great.

Great place!!! Finally a place with amazing wine selections! Atmosphere is cozy & the staff is very nice! Food is great never had a bad meal there. Definitely have to try

This review is only for the bar and bar menu. Great local place, good ambience, friendly service– especially the bar staff, great drinks, and reasonable prices. Also love the Friday night bands!

Nice décor, good food but over priced food and drinks. Highly disappointed I completed my entire dinner before my wife received hers. Bartender apologized and when I approached the manager he said, «sorry to hear.» I’m sorry as we’ll as we will never go there again. Needless to say neither individual offered an sort of compensation.

I like Vale! And it gets extra points for its location. Westwood dominates the restaurant scene in this area, so I’m grateful to have a place where I can eat a late & local dinner that isn’t in the same old town.
Initially, when this place first opened, they were jammed for weekend dinner nights, so reservations are recommended. I’ve also gone on a Saturday evening when there was no crowd in the dining area, so I’m not really sure if you must book ahead of time to grab a spot.
The bar appears to be the most popular feature, but the dining experience is pleasant. The atmopshere and Restoration Hardware décor create a chill, but semi-​chic ambiance.
The food gets an A, really, it’s good stuff, and I only say the following because I’m probably a picky person, but I do wish there were more diverse menu options available. The salads are fairly large, so pairing them with another entrée can run up the bill. Nevertheless, you should not be there to have a cheap dinner. This is the kind of place that’s apprpriate for mini celebrations among your close friends and family for a nice dining evening. And maybe a few drinks! I drank their Strawberry Fields vodka martini, and ordered a second for dessert.
Dessert is delicious, especially the cheesecake. Definitely a great place for a nice night out with friends and/​or family.

Decided to finally try Vale after driving by it about a thousand times. Upon walking in we were greeted by the Host and given our choice of seating. The inside appears quite new and the space inviting .
Both my friend and I ordered the Hamburgers. We both where quite pleased and I can tell you they were as good as any I have had in Bergen and that I will be back.

Great restaurant in Rivervale. Burgers are fantastic. Service is also excellent as well. Wines are very reasonably priced. Family ok.

pub fare menu says. $ 9.95 beef slider. slider? single? ten bucks! well it is a typo. thankfully you get three. Even if it is Pat Lafrieda blend ten bucks woulda been stooopid BUT the beef «slider» was really three! Sadly they were undercooked. Ordered them medium well came medium rare.
Asked for tabasco. Bartender disappeared. Came back with tabasco in a ramekin seriously? you cannot have few bottles behind the bar?
sweet potato fries good flavor. nice creamy inside texture
regular fries good spud flavor but a bit limp like if you were doing belgian fries you know twice fried but in this case you forgot the second fry

Good local restaurant. You can tell they spent a good deal of effort on the renovations. The restaurant ambiance is very nice.
Went in for a weekend lunch. Ordered two burgers — the Vale burger and the Kobe beef burger. Both were prepared well — juicy and generous portions. The service was very good — the staff was attentive to our needs and refilled drinks as needed. The Vale burger was $ 14 — more than what you might find at a local restaurant, but given the quality, it was a fair deal.
For a local restaurant, this place is a gem. However, nothing really stood out to make me want to make the drive here if I wasn’t in the area. For those who are nearby, this is a good place to go for food and drinks.
