We stayed in the hotel over night and had a wonderful stay. We had breakfast before leaving it was a nice morning so we ate out on the patio. The meal was delicious and our waiter Stephen was so accommodating and friendly. It was a perfect end to our get away. I recommend eating here if you haven’t yet you will not be sorry. And hopefully Stephen is your waiter.

Great place to dine at after a day at the vineyards. RSVP’d for an earlier dinner(5−6pm), and it was very quiet before the crowd started to show up. The portions for the most part were excellent and tasted very fresh, I liked it a lot. Good: –Lamb Sliders!!! appetizer(only 3 but sized somewhat large) –Sesame Encrusted Calamari appetizer(tasty and filling) –Bourbon Chicken Wings appetizer(tasted great) –Pan Seared Salmon(was good but try the other plates) –Moroccan Rubbed Sea Bass(light and flaky) –Sofrito Marinated Chicken!!!(I recommend it) –Scallops –RSVP through OpenTable for 100 points –Bistro’s version of the Moscow Mule –Farm to table meals –Kristen our waitress was great, informative and helpful –Waitress provided the wifi when she was asked Bad: –On Unilocal,if you checked in, you would’ve unlocked a «$ 27 pre-fixe WINTER lunch»…unfortunately the waitress, said that was an incorrect offer

We came to bistro 72 last night for dinner and I must say Eric was absolutely amazing and informative on pairing wine selection with the dishes, he cared about our experience and the resturant. We were so happy with him that we will defiantly be back next Friday to enjoy another meal served by him ! Thanks Eric!!!

Bistro 72 impressed me and my wife. We met Stephen(waiter) in Greenport and he suggested that we stop in for the cuisine. Stephen stated he typically works mornings, but regardless to stop in for the entertainment and enjoy the Farm to Table and locally sourced food. We arrived late afternoon and were seated promptly. As a shock Stephen approached our table. Stephen guided us by suggesting the TunaTarTar with a glass of Chardonnay for my wife. He also suggested the lamb sliders which were AWESOME with my Pinot Noir. We shared a cheese plate which filled us both. Thank you Stephen for telling us about Bistro 72. The vineyards you suggested we visit were perfect for our taste. On our next visit to NY we will stay at the Indigo and look for you!

Thank you Bistro 72. Not only was the food we enjoyed, cooked to perfection, but the service was excellent. Our waitress, Ayesha, was polite, knowledgeable and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for really wonderful food and drink prepared and served with the utmost respect. Thank you

This is an updated review! Bistro 72 is consistently delicious and always has great service. Located in a nice hotel near awesome outlet shopping is this gem of a place. Fantastic(although about $ 5 per bottle too expensive) wine list and some decent local selections. The strawberry salad is perfectly dressed and accompanied by crunchy spectacularness. The chicken mojo is a show stopper. It is hearty yet super light and accompanied by this outrageous polenta with cherry tomatoes. My husband had the salmon and we have never had a fish dish that didn’t delight(they get shipments from brauns in cutchogue 3 times a week according to our wonderful waitress)! Truthfully this is the best chicken dish in a 15 mile radius! Truly amazing. The espresso was spectacular and was served with a rocking biscotti. The crème brûlée was a winner… the flourless chocolate cake was super rich but well made. Overall I LOVEBISTRO72! Also-check out the Unilocal deal!

We had the opportunity to go to bistro 72 several times over the weekend when we stayed at Hotel Indigo– once for dinner, once for drinks and twice for breakfast. Dinner was very good– I got the BBQ chicken and my boyfriend got a burger. While it was very good, it quite expensive for what we got, and not exactly as advertised(menu said it came with corn on the cob, but that corn was very much off the cob-unless I just misunderstood!). I also ordered a cocktail that I just could not get down, though I certainly tried. It had Rosemary syrup and a sprig of rosemary in it and it was just sooo overpowering. It kind of tasted like you were licking a pine tree. It also doesnt help that the scent of shampoo in the hotel is Rosemary– so it really tasted like I was drinking shampoo. I asked to see the cocktail menu again, and they took the hint that I didn’t like the drink and didn’t charge me for it, which I very much appreciated. Second cocktail was delicious. Breakfast was very good and filling– the 3 eggs omelette was huge! Only thing is that they put fresh fruit directly on the plate, and I am actually allergic to certain berries, so I had to be careful to not eat any of my food that may have touched the strawberries. It was nice to have included fruit with the omelette, but as this wasn’t listed on the menu, I didn’t think to inform my server of the allergy. Serving it in a separate dish would solve any issues. The second day we got breakfast, we each got the«continental breakfast». Yogurt was actually Greek yogurt. Maybe I’m just picky but it seemed there were a few menu differences throughout our weekend. Stephen was a very good breakfast waiter and we appreciated his attentiveness. Ayesha was also very friendly and kind.

We were celebrating my wife’s Birthday and she has been looking forward to trying this place. I should have known that this was a bad idea with all the red flags that popped up early in the evening. Service: A bunch of rookies — Nice but no clue how to serve food in a high end restaurant. Entertainment: I’m a musician of sorts so I know I am biased, but when I mentioned how terrible the piano player was, my wife promptly agreed! Slow down there sparky… You don’t get paid by the song! Though it was nice to have that loud and fast piano banging to drown out the wedding happening right below us… Bumpin’ beat throughout the meal, good times! Cocktails: Yea, we’re not too crazy — I don’t need a ginger infused coconut mango martini with a chocolate glaze. Absolute on the rocks with 2 olives. — Yea — They were out of olives? WHAT? As for the food. Menu is basic… REALLYBASIC. any first year culinary student should be able to bang out this unimaginative crap and prob could execute at a much higher level than this romper room of a restaurant. Steamed mussels for app: My wife had to tell me it was steamed in beer cause I didn’t taste it. Oh and terribly under-seasoned, like the rest of the meal. Which sucked because both the pepper and salt shakers on the table were empty. My wife had the salmon over risotto and I had the fillet. So when they dropped our dinner plates, all I smelled was rotting fish. I thought it was my wife’s dish and was about to warn her not to eat it when I took a bite of my steak. They drowned this poor little thing is some sort of herb butter that was so foul tasting that I would have considered a vomit rinse to get the taste out of my mouth. I was able to stomach about ½ of it before I gave up. So when you see my one star rating above, please understand it isn’t by choice. When you dish out $ 140 for a meal, you expect some level of professionalism. This place lacked that on all possible levels. Stay AWAY!

I don’t usually write reviews but thought it necessary. Recently, I have been going to Bistro 72 quite often as it is local. First and foremost I want to say the duck is phenomenal. Next, my waitress provided me with some of the best service that I have had in a long time. It is great to be able to go somewhere out on the island and get a touch of excellence. The hostess seated us with a smile and waitress really worked to impress and WOW us. Lastly, being local I think it is great for our community to have a place that attracts the masses. This restaurant highlights what Long Island stands for From the locally selected wines to the knowledgeable staff, everything is perfect. Next time my wife and I are looking for an upscale dinner, we will definitely being going back to Bistro 72.

Love this place. Had khole for a waitress, wonderful, she knew what she was doing, very experienced. Place is clean and gorgeous. So was our server. Order the shrimp scampi, delicious !, as well as the butternut squash soup, one of the best soups I’ve had. Wish I coulda ordered 5 bowls. Beer pretzels weren’t that great, felt like i coulda made them in my home, not worth the 10 $, but overall I enjoyed my lunch a lot. Best thing about this place is they change there menu every season, which is pretty neat and different

We went last night… Monday…and the bar was crowded and there were quite a few tables. We have been here before. ate at the bar once, which was nice, and sat at a table in the dining room which was nice also. Last night we chose to try to sit outside and really enjoyed it. The heaters kept it comfortable and the woodburning fireplace was beautiful. The warm bread basket is always welcome, with the trio of bruschetta, butter, and olive oil. The drinks were made well and we really enjoy the house vodka being Long Island Vodka! Service was a little slow, but the bartender and waitress worked together to handle it all. The bistro 72 salad hit the spot with fresh blueberries and candied walnuts. The chicken Milanese was a little dry, but with extra dressing requested, it was good. The mahi mahi was surprisingly delicious. Missed seeing any tuna on the menu, hopefully it will make it back. They offer a prixe fixe, sunday-Wednesday which is a good deal… app, entrée and dessert I think, for $ 29. We had a groupon so we didn’t have it, but may next time. It is a little pricey, but not bad for the area… and compared to all the chains… Applebee’s, Friday’s, Joe’s etc… It’s soo much better! They use a lot of local foods. always a good thing!

Didn’t stay at the hotel, but met some friends who were. The food was Okay. The ambiance and service was better. Standard food, at pretty high prices.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo using a Groupon. We had two meal vouchers and we used them both for breakfast. We both enjoyed our breakfast so much so that we ordered the identical thing the next day. BF had pancakes and sausage and I had the standard eggs breakfast. We came during the week so it wasn’t crowded at all. Our food came out quickly and our servers were professional and friendly.

I stayed at Hotel Indigo for a couple of nights after my wedding. While we were there we had breakfast and dinner at Bistro 72. The breakfast started out well, with a delicious cappuccino and promising menu options. However in the end it was just ok. I had a side of hash that was very dry and tasteless, but thankfully they took it off our bill. The service was the most disappointing. Very slow even though they were not that busy. Dinner was much more enjoyable. The setting outside was very relaxing and romantic. The food was great, especially the mussels. Service was much better too. One of my drinks took a while to come out so they gave it to me on the house :)

I come here every other Thursday after work. Anthony is the bartender on Thursday nights. He is attentive and friendly. Food is above average. Some fancy items and some avg ones. I like to order. 1. Beet salad 2. Bistro 72 salad. 3. Berries and cream 4 mussles. All prepared well even late at night. If you are looking for a descent meal for dinner or later. This is a good place to go. Usually there is live music in the bar on Thursdays. Many weeks the bar is busy on Thursdays. It’s not your average hotel restaurant.

During the Winter Jazz Festival, plan on making it over to Bistro 72 At least once to take in some great tunes and hang loose. Or saddle up to the bar for the same. Better yet, get something to eat while you are there. Just make sure you make reservations in advance if you plan on eating. On our most recent trip, we had eaten at another favorite local restaurant by design and went to the Bistro for after dinner drinks and the awesome music. Once you get inside there isnt a bad seat to both hear and see the music. The bar help was quick, friendly and professional. We waited no more than a minute to be asked if we needed help. That’s a big deal since there was standing-room-only. Kudos to those tireless guys who made a great martini and were quick with a smile. Once we come back for dinner, I promise to update my review to include the food portion of Bistro 72. As for the music and the drinks, well done!
