We were out of options on a Saturday night in February — everyplace was an hour wait or better. Last ditch we tried Cooperage and we got in. I say last ditch because it is more expensive than other restaurants in Riverhead. Well, on this night I think we should have opted to pass on this. I ordered the special: country fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and spinach. It was cold so I wanted comfort food. Sadly, the food was inedible. The chicken tasted either like the oil was old or like Oven Fry, the bread crumb topping you can by in any super market. The mac and cheese? NOTASTE! It tasted like plain pasta. It was horrible. Lest I think there was something wrong with my tastebuds, my husband tried. He concurred. Terrible. Now, while they did remove the charge from the check, I still think they garnered a rating of two. Why? Well, I let the waitress know I thought it tasted like old oil. She came back and told me that my country fried chicken was actually baked so it could not be old oil. #SMH Terrible. Over priced. The place needs an update on décor as well… felt like a chain restaurant that had seen better days. Would love to see them take advantage of some of the local farmers and fishermans bounty… and I highly recommend hiring a new chef before he or she ruins their restaurant!

Went to Cooperage Inn for Valentine’s Day brunch .Food was pretty good, standard brunch fare. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, omelets, french toast all good. Huge dessert bar, mostly homemade. Somethings better then others but all decent. As far as the service, Im not sure what all the complaints are about, we found all the staff very pleasant and helpful. Our severer was very sweet, I think her name was Juile. Very attentive for a buffet service. I would definitely go back again.

This place is just, Ok. There is not much options in the area. My only issue is that it needs a little updating and the food is slightly over-priced for the quality. There is no finesse.

Crab cakes — perfect, really, really good, so was the sauce. Wine — perfect Bread pudding — yummy! Burger — very, very good, and I’m not a big meat eater, but it did kind of melt in your mouth. Fish — good, fresh

I’ve been here twice. The first time, with my husband, and it was cozy and the food seemed more interesting than regular pub food. So, we came back with 2 other couples. The appetizers(hot wings, lemon wings and eggrolls) and our service was good. The pumpkin beer with the sugar/cinnamon rim was delicious. The entrees, however, were bland and reminded me of food you get at a wedding catering hall. Not one person at our table at their entire entrée. From the meatloaf, which was formed into this«cake» with no gravy on it, to pasta/chicken pesto that had no pesto to be found, to a chicken with artichokes and veggies that seemed recently defrosted and tasteless. I just thought the food would have more love. I can’t say I’d look forward to coming back again.

Passed through here as a mere pit stop between wineries, but there was a live cover band, and a lot of great looking food on other patrons’ tables. Being that it’s October, I had the seasonal Pumpkin Ale beer. Had a fun little time, I will sit down and here when I go back. Good: –Pumpkin Ale($ 7) with sugar and cinnamon around the brim –The food looked and smelled great –Live rock cover band –There’s a nice outdoor layout for patrons Bad: –Minimum to charge a credit card is $ 20

This place was recommended to me as part of a planned winery day trip. I called and asked if they take reservations, the person replied with a snarkiness to his voice yes… I disregarded and told him my party size. He proceeded to give me a time. I asked if he had something earlier and he said with again w snarkiness to his voice, no not this wkd. Honestly no need to be a wise a$$ over the phone to a potential customer. Because of that initial experience I will not give business to this place.

Love this place … My favorite is to go in the fall. Get a pumpkin beer a delicious chicken pot pie listen to the live music cozy up to their fire pits and enjoy myself. With maybe a yummy hot coco afterwards !!! Fun fun fun!

First time visit to the Cooperage and I have to go with OK. Maybe an OK plus. We had brunch this past Sunday with a large party of 15 people. We had originally thought we would be 20 and we showed up and told them we were less, there was no muss no fuss, they took five minutes to rearrange some tables and we were seated. Overall the place is small so it seems to get to capacity pretty quick but their no cell phone policy(put it on vibrate for an hour will ya’) keeps the noise in the dining room at a low background hum. The one place where small hurts them is in the actual buffet room. If I had to guess the room is about 15×12 and holds an omelet station, carving station and all of you selections including desserts and juices. On more that one occasion I either experienced or saw the traffic in the room overwhelm the available space and spill out into the hallway or dining room. It can be so tight that the servers can have a hard tome replenishing the items that need restocking. My wife saw this happen with the waffles and it happened when another guy came to refill the bacon. Because of this you may have to be little assertive if you’re going to get any food. Otherwise you could wind up like a student driver at their first four way stop. The other patrons will literally eat your lunch while you hesitate. Food highlights reported by the Party: Mimosa or Bloody Mary included–(Big Yea! from one end of the table) Breakfast Potatoes: crispy outside, tender outside, a real star Fresh Carved ham: Really delicious. Didn’t figure out who was actually manning the carving station but there was ham sliced when I arrived so I won’t call foul. Apple Chutney for Above Ham: Rocks, it just rocks. Bacon– Nice and crisp, a rarity when the quantities are this voluminous. Fruit Salad: Not overloaded with Honey Dew. In fact I remember more grapes than anything else. Gotta say it was worth the trip and the price is competitive. Maybe we’ll make a stop back for the lovers night on Thursday. Maybe their sit-down service will add another star to the pile.

There is nothing special about this place — decent cuisine in a decent locale. However, went here on Mother’s Day and the hostess was incredibly rude. My group of six did not want to check our coats, so she rolled her eyes at the coat checker and said we would have to «sit on our coats because the fireplace was on.» We sat at our table, and the fireplace was not on(it was not cold out either), put our coats on our seat and had a decent time. If the hostess had cared more about her customers than her coat checker potentially getting a small tip I might consider going back. As it stands, I will not, because this hostess is terrible.

Once you get passed the unfriendly hostess the cooperidge inn is beautiful. Friendly service, reasonable prices and above average quality food. Crab cakes are plump and tasty although they’re made with crab leg meat rather than lump crab meat. There’s a beer garden and alfresco dining so overall a fun and consistently good destination. The restaurant must have an in house decorator because the décor is beautiful.

So sad that I have to give them two stars but they earned it. Oh did they earn it. I have been taking my family to the cooperage in for quite some time now and it has always been pleasant. That’s not to say extraordinary, just pleasant. My friends and I have just returned home after a typical girls night out and we were harmoniously disappointed :(we all drove about 45 minutes just to get to the Cooperage Inn and we were all excited about it because one of us had heard of the Wednesday night girls night feature. On the car it states they have a «full» dinner menu for $ 15 along with $ 5 starters and $ 3 desserts. LOL okay. When we got there the hostess was super friendly and sat us in a nice seat. We were right by the live music which was a nice soft touch and some great background music. As we looked onto the ‘Girls Night’ menu it quickly became clear how deceitful their advertising really was. Just about 85% of the items had an up charge! But they offer a ‘full dinner menu’ for $ 15 Our waitress came by(no introduction) and took our drink order. We all got the $ 5 cosmos they were offering. When she came back to grab our dinner orders we were pretty pissed to find we needed to spend $ 15 off the girls night menu for any of the prices to be valid. There was no mention of that on the advertisement card or any pre notice from our waitress. We got bread for the table and when we wanted to order another basket our server was no where to be found so I just asked one of the bussers(they rocked) to refill us. Still no sign of her until 10 minutes later and I put an order in for another Cosmo and waited… and waited… and waited. Again I had to snag one of the bussers and I asked I told him I ordered a Cosmo and the next thing I know there he was with it! Why are they quicker and more attentive than my server? Finally all of our dinners arrive and in stereo we looked up at each other with a puss face on. Our food was terrible. I ordered a $ 30 seafood pasta plate off the menu and asked to have a Alfredo sauce instead of the oil garlic sauce. It was just like eating warmed up milk. It was so slick! The ‘catch of the day’ was also included in this dish and it seemed to be frozen salmon with NO flavor. The entire dish was just so bland and so flavorless. My friends had the same reaction to their food. What a waste. Are you ready for the best part? I called the restaurant back to make mention to the manager and told him straight forward how we all felt and he basically didn’t want to hear it and did not seem to care. I said I was going to dispute the charge on my credit card only because he was no help and I was so angered by his reaction. His answer was«Go ahead» and proceeded to HANGUPONME. What an ass. I was just floored by this and so were my friends. The only reason I gave two stars instead of 1 is because this is a cumulative review and I’ve been there in the past for holidays(and spent in the thousands) and Sunday brunch and like I said it’s been ‘pleasant’ but you can be assured I will never return to this place ever again. If the manager had maybe showed a little more compassion and professionalism my review may have been different. I’ve had better customer service at Taco Bell.

I’ve been here twice now and it’s an okay spot. Not my favorite though. Both times I went here I was with my mom. The first time was later afternoon/early evening and it was very chill and relaxed. We had the crab broil which was delicious. The most recent second time wasn’t as good though. It was very cramped and crowded and we were seated in an awkward place right by the entrance so we had a bunch of guests and waiters constantly brushing past us which made the dining experience a little uncomfortable. The food was decent enough, if a little on the pricey side. I was sad to see that they no longer offered the crab broil though, because that is what we came back for. Then they ran out of the tuna my mom wanted, so that was disappointing. That said, the seafood bisque was amazing! But I wasn’t thrilled with the menu overall. I was hoping that with being located on the North Fork that there would be more seafood options available. It’s certainly not a bad place — decent enough, it just doesn’t wow me. I might come back if the crab broil ever comes back on the menu though, but I think I will have to make sure not to go on a Saturday evening.

Wine country! I really don’t like wine though. With that said, the Cooperage Inn was nice. Good food. I had the«catch of the day». The catch was swordfish. I enjoyed it. I went there for restaurant week. Very good deal. 3 course dinner $ 27.95

I have eaten here many many times and each time is good but I HAD to write a review on this experience. My husband and I went for restaurant week and the options were awesome. Although $ 27.95 is the usual charge and while most restaurants have up charges, they had options for $ 24.95!!! Loved that. We were greeted with a big smile and seated immediately. The waitress(Julie H.) was incredibly sweet and professional and didn’t rush our drink order. After we heard her suggestions we both placed our order. The pace was perfect! I got the crab cake and he got the mandarin salad – both were delicate flavorful and nice portions! Then the steaks came… wow-wow-wow!!! Gorgonzola with a chimichuri sauce and cooked to perfection-the vegetables were crisp and well balanced and the mashed potatoes were scrumptious! We were so full we took our dessert to go — and we did take the only upgrade here for $ 2 and holy moly was it worth it! Thank you julie! Key lime pie was spectacular just the right amount of sweet and sooooo creamy. The coconut cream pie was delicious too. Overall we had an AWESOME experience and will continue to go! Thanks for a great experience every time cooperidge inn:))

MiI have been introduced to this place by a friend, we can’t during Sunday brunch, and since then I’ve been returning. The reason I’ve chosen to come only on Sunday brunch is because its around $ 27 for an adult and around $ 20 for a child, and you can east all you want, rather than paying $ 30 or even more for lunch and dinner. I might just try dinner here just for the experience to see for myself if the price seems fit of the food. The dinner menu is the same as the lunch items but they throw in some veggies and what not to raise the price. Once I go in I usually see the same tall, thin, light skin Woman, with short dark hair right above her shoulder. She never really smiles, and I don’t mind that really. I rather not get a fake smile. They offer to put your coat up, and you should because it’s a pretty cramped place, with people walking by and knocking things down. When you give them your coat they will give you a number card, so don’t lose it, in order to get your stuff back. It’s nice that they offer a complimentary mimosa or bloody marry as well. They have one section filled with things such as eggs, potato’s, bacon, sausages, pancakes, etc. Then the other section with chicken, fish, salad, pasta, clams, etc. Another table with sweets on the right such as brownies, pudding, cakes, cookies, canolis. And on the left of that table breads like muffins, toast, bread slices, different jams, butters, syrup as well. They have freshly squeezed juices, orange, apple cider, watermelon(my personal favorite), and others. I’m not being too specific because the food changes depending on the season and what is fresh. Everything you can take is freshly made! There is a few stations that have a guy cutting ham and making omelettes how ever you like them. They change their decorations as well and its lovely. It’s a nice homey family type atmosphere. When you are done with your plate they come take it away and you get a new plate. They refill your coffee for free as well. It’s a great place to visit at least once, the only bad thing are the staff, but only some of them! They say they finish brunch at 2:30 but its more like 1:30. I heard one lady tell another«We should start cleaning up slowly so we can finish faster.» Something around those lines. Which is kinda cheating. And I do see them permanently take things away although the food isn’t finished, and without bringing anything new. Last time I came was during February, they had the Christmas tree still up but it was great to take a picture with. And they had real fire places. Me and my girlfriend actually got seated near a fireplace it was very comforting since it was cold outside. It was just tough when people wanted to get up from their seats because I would need to get up since our chairs were back to back. Overall its great I recommend coming during Sunday brunch, maybe they’re could be more space/room. And the staff could be friendlier, but its not everyone. Still these little things won’t get to me, I love this place and am going to keep coming and inviting different friends and coworkers, as I do when I love a place. I even made a reservation for this Sunday, so looking forward to that. Update. April 26, 15 They have changed up much of the staff since Feb 9, 14 when I last came, and let me tell you its great! The only complaint now was that I took my kid with me and they charged me for 3 adults, she is 10! Not an adult at all. No one wanted to fix this for me so I just left after paying.

We have been to this restaurant a number of times because we have a summer place in the area. I want desperately to like this place but unfortunately it just seems like it’s not going to happen. Food is always just so so at best. On one occasion we brought my sister-in law with us. She ordered Osso Bucco. When she told waiter it didn’t taste right the manager came over to reprimand her and tell her«this must be the first time she ever had it because it was fine». Came for Sunday brunch… Very tight area and can’t even remember what they served. Only positive experience I had was the Seafood Paella. This was good. In spite of all my complaint I still want to like it.

This review is for their Sunday Brunch. I had noon reservations got there a little early and was seated right away. They had made to order omelets, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs with sides of bacon and sausage. They also served chicken, ribs, fish and assorted salads and breads. About 1⁄3 of the room was dedicated to desserts. Chocolate mousse, rice pudding, pies, carrot cake and other goodies. You also get a choice of a Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Very pleasant atmosphere no feeling of being rushed to turn tables and they were prompt in keeping the food trays full. The Brunch was voted Best Brunch by Dan’s Papers. At $ 26.95 per person it was very reasonable for the quality and quantity provided.
