Amazing and unique food. The owners are so nice. Cassandra recommended the linguine with pistachio cream and it was probably one of the best things I have ever tasted. Everything was so good. You have to try this place!

I recently ate at this spectacular restaurant with my wife and 2 friends after our day in the north fork wine country. At the time that I made the reservation, I had the pleasure of speaking with Cassandra, the chef-owner’s charming daughter, who assured me that they were flexible and would create any variety of a tasting menu that we desired. When we arrived, we discussed the options and agreed upon a 7 course meal where for the first 2 courses, we would all receive the same dish and afterwards each of us would receive a different dish that we could share. We started with Steak Tartare citrus gherkin aioli, balsamic, truffle oil which was the best preparation of this dish that I have ever had. The citrus was a nice touch. The second course was Sea Scallops white chocolate truffle honey, spaghetti squash. I don’t know how the come up with these ideas but I hope they just keep coming. The scallop was perfectly cooked and the sauce divine. We enjoyed the Portuguese Octopus rosemary potato corn stew which was tender and delicious. The Hen & Clams Crenshaw melon, tarragon compote was in a fantastic broth. The Baked Oysters horseradish and blood orange were tangy. The Peking Poussin hot and sour cabbage, Chinese duck sauce was the favorite dish of my friends. It was tender and juicy with crisp skin. The Escargot Cherry Ravioli gorgonzola cream was incredible. We also had the Escargot bourbon, sweet potato, turnip molasses, Parpadelle kabocha truffle parmesan, raisins, cashew, Roasted Frog Legs coriander balsamic marinade at which time we surrendered. The last course was a delicious steak which we took home along with a sampler of desserts on the house which my son enjoyed immensely. We met Michael who was very friendly and Cassandra and the wait staff were attentive and wonderful throughout. I cannot wait to go back.

If you are looking for a place to dine where the food is pleasing to your palate and the presentation is delightful, Michael Anthony’s Food Bar is the place to go. The food is always fresh and the«specials» make the decision even harder to choose what to order. My favorite appetizer is the escargot. This is our favorite spot to dine!

This place is a rip off! Casandra is a sales person not to be trusted! If you book a party here get everything in writing. If not you will get ripped off! They add 20% to everything including their band to your check as well as the cake they overcharged for. The food is OK with small portions. The service is poor! You can find better places to have a party in Suffolk.

Ate here last night!!! One of the best kept secrets in this area!!! They have a personal touch that almost makes you feel like your home Cassandra is great!!! Her knowledge of wine is outstanding trust her judgment with pairing wine to your meal and you won’t be disappointed!!! The Chef is fantastic, atmosphere quiet and personal if you don’t give this place a try you are truly missing out on something special. I had a wonderful experience, as well as my entire party. I’m just reading some of the negative reviews on here now and can’t believe them. Cassandra and staff were absolutely amazing. You can tell someone has a passion about what they do by the way they carry and present themselves. Cassandra not only catered to our needs but exceeded them. Food was creative and had wonderful presentation. We will be back thank you

This place seems like it has great potential, it’s the only restaurant in the area so if you want to go out to eat close by, this is really the only option. We called ahead since we were traveling from about an hour away. We figured we’d be arriving around 730, but asked for a 745 reservation to be safe, they said they could only do 730. I figured we’d just get there when we get there and wait if we had to. Once we arrived it seemed odd that they had said 730 since there were any tables available, and the waitress was so busy we waited until much after 745 until we even received utensils(we were sitting outside). It just seems silly that they made us rush. There’s ample parking which is nice, and the décor is light and casual. The menu is a bit weird, there was a coursed menu(with no price), and then a regular menu which was somewhat confusing. The execution on the dishes showed that the chef obviously has passion for the food he puts out. Everything was delicious, perhaps a little on the salty side. When I get the opportunity to go back the restaurant will likely get more stars, however on the night that I visited the place was severely understaffed. I work in a restaurant so I completely understand the feeling of having more tables than you can handle, but this was pretty bad. We waited 40 minutes to even have our drink order taken, then another 20 before our food order was taken. After that things went smoothly and quickly. I just think for a restaurant in this area, they should be better staffed on a Thursday night in the summer, but who knows maybe we went on a freakishly busy night. Regardless, I look forward to returning soon.

Our second visit to MA was horrible. We went once before last year and it was very good. Not good now. Do not mind expensive restaurants when you are getting the best food of the highest quality and served to perfection. Not so at Michael Anthony’s. The menu is very pretentious and the chef definitely does not measure up to the effort. The duck was tasteless and the accompanying potato pancake was beyond tough. The sautéed spinach side dish was way too salty .The steak at $ 29 was an insult to the diner. You can get a better steak at Outback. The steak is covered up with mashed potatoes and a barely charred onion. Tough and loaded with gristle. Not enjoyable at all. A positive note is the friendly staff. Too bad the food can’t be complimented. The restaurant itself is nice with open air dining and a private parking lot. Still horrible and won’t return. DOREEN B.

Absolutely the most amazing restaurant I have been to in a very long time. Thank you fellow Unilocalers for leading me to this gem. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and all the staff made us feel right at home. Our waitress offered us a flawless service understanding my love for food and how special the dinner was as it was our 1 year wedding anniversary. We started with a beautiful cheese plate then the thai spiced mussels that were so good we drank the juice with a spoon. The scallops were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The octopus was cooked to perfection with these out of this world olives. The ribeye tartare was delightful and original. The bacon and bok choy was unlike anything ive ever had before. The tomato polenta was just the right amount of seasoning and love the egg on top. We ended with the crème brûlée and mascarpone tiramisu. I cant say enough about the food and overall experience. The sign outside is right on point«the ordinary to the extraordinary». Best anniversary dinner ever we set the bar high for the years to come. Thank you so much for an unforgettable dinner!

This place was absolutely horrible. The owners daughter tries to sell you on items on the menu that cost more money bc they obviously need the money. My husband orders a steak medium comes out completely rare. They put it back on the grill and give him the old steak back. Then we get our bill comes to $ 105.00 give them our credit card and we see that it’s charged $ 110.00 not a big deal but no explanation except that the steak price was crossed out and the new price was scribbled over it. As we ask the waiter, Cassandra comes over with an attitude to explain the steak was actually 45 not 40. What a horrible experience and bad way of doing business. I’m guessing they really needed the $ 5 extra. would never recommend this place to anyone !

Used to be a big fan of this place but feel as though prices keep going up, and portions and quality keep going down. Customer service has become at best tepid. Me and a group of friends were served a bowl of obviously rancid muscles as an appetizer course. It was grossly apparent when they put the bowl down that the muscles had gone bad. I fail to see how someone could have not noticed this as they prepared them, they were seriously gag inducing. Maybe they thought enough garlic would cover it up. We sent it back(and I don’t send things back). They did acknowledge that they were bad and offered us another order to replace it(LOL…NOPE!). A round of drinks or a dessert might have been a nice gesture given they almost gave my party Vibro cholerae poisoning, but I guess that was expecting a lot. It’s a charming place and they have an excellent drink selection. If you’re in the mood to pay $ 30 for 2 shrimp and 2 scallops and play microbiological Russian roulette it’s not a bad choice. Otherwise drive an extra 10 minutes to Ocean 5 in Shoreham for the freshest, best seafood in the area. It’s also a much better value, and you forgo a lot of pretentiousness.

Michael Anthony’s offers a cooking class on Sunday afternoons. 4 – 6 people. Experienced it last Sunday with g/f and two kids(20’s). Couple of hours in kitchen with Chef Michael. Prepped and prepared 5 course meal. Homemade Spring rolls with shrimp, Oyster stew, sweet potato agnolotti(I believe), Pepper encrusted Steak au poivre, Bananas Foster. And we thought we couldn’t cook like a pro. You can too. Sat down to eat with a bottle of Wine and were in Heaven. Awsome Experience. Great idea for small Birthday get together, Girls/Guys day out etc.

Our favorite restaurant — we feel like family here. Food is always amazing, and the menu is constantly changing. Great quality food, fun atmosphere, interesting experiences. Their special nights(Steak & Cigar Dinner, Jazz Night, Beer Dinner, etc.) are all very special. You owe it to yourself to go here.

I can’t believe what just happened on a Saturday night. What a nice meal we had at Michael Anthony’s Food Bar! My wife is telling me we have to go to Michael Anthony’s Food Bar in Wading River, she heard it was pretty good by a co-worker. Now my radar is up. A place call Food Bar in Wading River? I’m thinking it’s a all you can buffet… At night, you can drive right by this place. It’s a cute little restaurant off the beaten path. We walk in and the restaurant looks like a converted home. You’re facing a small bar and to the right is the dining room. The hostess ask if we have reservations. We don’t and after a few minute wait, they prep a table and are ready for us. The menu is very eclectic and fun. They have it broke down into sections: Appetizers, Salads, Pastas and Proteins. The reason why I agreed to come to Michael Anthony’s Food Bar is the co-worker said I would love this place for the pasta.(And my Unilocal Friend wrote a nice review) Sold! My wife ordered a homemade beet starter and I ordered, it seemed to leap off the page: Foie Gras Ganache Brûlée. Lots of flavors happening: There is maple almond jam covering a olive oil pepper biscuit sitting on a white piece of paper. The Maple Jam sticks to the paper, its a mess. The biscuit is stale, where is the Foie Gras? I have these two spoons, it does’t look like Foie Gras and it doesn’t taste like Foie Gras. It tastes like, stuffing mixed with Gorgonzola. Pass on this appetizer. Pasta time! My wife orders the Parpadelle and I ordered the Gnocchi. My dish was so rich and decadent, butternut squash truffle cream, Like Billy Idol says, I want more more more! My wife’s dish, the Parpadelle is made and cooked perfecto! The wine list. Michael Anthony owner guy, you’re so close to Wine Country. All you’re offering is Shinn Estates?(Excellent choice to have Coalescence, it’s my wife favorite) The East End wines need to be bumped up We’re finished and the owner comes out, reminds me of my dad. He’s all tan and telling us about Florida. Nice man, he knows how to work the room and is proud of his business. Total home run hit. I text my old neighbor and tell her this is the next place the four of us have to try for dinner. Michael Anthony’s Food Bar, I’m a fan. I’m coming back with my old Brooklyn neighbor. Your food reminds me of family Sunday Italian dinners

Amazing! We loved our testing menu with incredible service we got from the co-owner(daughter of the chef). the meal was matched(!) for us and both my hubby and I had completely different tastings. Since we share, we both tried 8(!) dishes. Undoubtedly a bargain, especially if ordered with wine pairing.

Came here for my birthday. We went with the fixe price menu. For appetizers we ordered the: Calamari, salad, oyster stew, & pulled pork all were amazing. My father ordered the mussels and they were outstanding! The broth was to die for. For dinner we ordered: salmon, pork chop and fish & chips. All were great! The desserts were to die for. My only complaint was some of the menu items were unavailable which was a bummer because I really wanted to try that ginger carrot cake!! Waitress and staff were extremely nice. This is one of my favorites places! Very laid back place and down the road from my block. Also if your looking to get away from the heavy populated areas this is the town & place! Also the Long Island sound is literally down the road.
