J&L’s Chicken, Fish & Rib’s

I am a food fanatic I love food. I always like to try different places and see if it’s good or if it’s not. This place was pretty good. I love the ox tails and rice it was awesome. The ribs were pretty good as well and so was the chicken. Collards were different then I normally make myself but they were good as well. When I am back in town I will for surely go again.

What a nice welcome addition to Riverhead! Food is very tasty, with nice size portions and very good prices. Had an issue and they went out of their way to help. We ate in and also had a delivery. Great either way. I am telling everyone I know in town.

This food is amazing! They deliver, have pick-​up and a few tables as well. Tried a few different items and all were soo tasty. The chicken wings were not greasy but really cooked just right. I should have ordered some blue cheese to go with them. I think that might be an extra. The oxtails with rice & beans is so very flavorful and just cooked to perfection. The ribs are meaty and juice. Cole slaw is exceptional — very creamy. Mac and cheese is also prepared with a blackened top and is very creamy with a real cheesy flavor. All in all, what a great find!!!

Tried this place because they deliver. The chicken was good, their sauce is spicy (wish it was a little thicker).
I am giving them 2 stars because of how they handled my concern.
I was chargers $ 7.49 more then I expected to pay. On Facebook their menu was different then what I was charged. He said its and old menu and hung up on me. I was stunned by that. Not at all good for my first time experience with them. It was not my fault they did not up date their menu on Facebook and obviously he was not interested in me being a future customer. Very sad because I was planing on using him for my next catered event… Very sad

This place is amazing! Cozy little spot cranking out the best soul food I’ve had outside of Georgia. Soul food on Long Island, who knew! Definitely coming back again to eat my way through the menu

This place is not very good. All the «rave» reviews must be friends of the owners. The chicken was mediocre, dry in some spots and not fully cooked in other spots. The corn bread was cold and flavorless… terrible. The collard greens were not seasoned well and bad enough that I had no desire to finish them. The Mac and cheese was the best item they have. It was decent and the reason I gave them two stars instead of one. Will not be going back.

Yummy food and the people are really nice. A good option for lunch or dinner when we’re hungry on our way out east.

Chicken is awesome. Sides are soo goodd! Cheese fries, mac and cheese mashed potatos and gravy and corn everything was flavorful! Definitely coming back!

We went here on a whim looking for some authentic fried chicken. Not many options in eastern Suffolk. The place looks unassuming from the outside, almost missed it! ;Lara’s inside was super nice and friendly. Gave us the best deal for what we were ordering. The chicken was so flavorful. The sides were delicious; we had 4 of bucket with the baked mac and cheese, coleslaw and collard greens and fries. All were great! I also had the corn muffin, it was a little dry, but the flavor was still there. Whole meal was less than $ 25 and perfect for 2 people. Would definitely recommend! Hope to see this place stick around!

Everything was great. Ribs were a bit cool and kind of just drizzled with bbq sauce and not really let to be on the grill to get that nice carmalized flavor and crunch.
Little pricey for what you get 8 ribs 8 chicken (NO WHITE MEAT maybe only on request) two Coles slows and three fries 53 dollars… For my book a bit over priced for take out fried chicken and ribs mind you only 8 pieces of each.
Cole slaw was great nice and creamy and a great taste. Even the chicken was good not greasy and nice and juicy inside. Ribs fell off the bone but like I said personally I like it with a bit more sauce and hit the grill again. Fries were your average frozen fries but were like those double dipped ones so it has that extra crunch which I love.

Let me start by saying that I finally had the pleasure to stop and try the great food J&L’s has to offer. I’ve been looking for a really good soul food spot here on the eastern end of Long Island. So when I found this place on Unilocal I told myself that I needed to check this place out.
When I walked the smell of fried chicken was in the air. The steam table was filled of yummies like mac & cheese, candied yams, string beans, collard greens, etc. I was greeted by a very nice gentlemen and lady. They both made me feel welcome. The phone kept ringing as the lady was trying to take my order and she kept apologizing for having to stop in the midst of my order. I appreciated that and definitely understood being that I work in the service industry myself. I ordered a 10pc chicken wing combo with collard greens and mac & cheese. I also ordered a peach lemonade to wash it down. By the time I left, I felt like I was visiting family. They made me feel so welcome.
The food was seasoned perfectly and tasted amazing! The fried chicken was fried perfectly and evenly. The mac & cheese and collard greens were delicious as well. Not to mention how slammin’the peach lemonade was. I’m so glad I found this little gem! I’ve never been so eager to write an review before now. Thank you J&L’s for the delicious food and wonderful service! I’ll see you guys really soon. I PROMISE! Lol

Some of the best bbq I’ve had on the island and a staff with a smile to match. Definitely making this place my go to place for ribs and fried chicken. Get the sting bean side, it’ll change the way you think of green beans. Also, the mango lemonade is a must to cut through all the lip-smack’n goodness.

FA NOM IN AL! The fried chicken is so freakin good… definitely giving Spicys a run for their money. Real soul food that taste amazing. The prices are amazing. Plus they deliver.

Wow very very very good soul food. Ribs were awesome. Fried chicken was spectacular. Very happy I live close by!
