Pretty awful BBQ Place. The pulled pork was very tomato/ketchupy and had no spice or BBQ flavor. The bun was an ordinary store-bought sesame seed bun. The collard greens had suspicious pieces of ham(spam?) in them. The corn bread was again clearly store-bought.
In addition, they overcharge for these pretty conspicuous cheap ingredients.

Something special about this hole in ground here but the food is exceptional you just can’t open your eyes to see where your at and how this place looks this guy never pumps any money into his place just his pockets. We have been customers for over twenty years this place has great family recipes and food is some of the best short order cooks can bring to the table so this one is a winner but just use your imagination a little and you will be there. We will always be back here.

I love Spicy’s, either location works for me. Best collard greens anywhere, awesome ribs with a ton of flavor, great clam strips and wings. Love this place.

I have no idea how this place got its rating. This place is not good. First off this is not a BBQ place. This is a fried chicken place. Everything is fried. The customer service is horrible. The people are rude. They won’t ask if you want a drink. They won’t substitute any item if you buy the dinner. The ribs have no flavor in the meat and they are extremely fatty. They are terrible cuts of meat. The bottom of the barrel. The only item that was good were collard greens. They had more flavor than everything else we had. O and the pasta salad should be called mayonnaise with noodles.

We’ve been coming here for years. It’s The best dive around for chicken & ribs & Love the collard greens too! Prices are very reasonable !!

This is not a real BBQ place! Most of their food is fried, including the chicken sandwich. There is NOBBQ chicken sandwich at all. Their chicken sandwich like most things on the menu is fried. That’s fine if that’s what you like, but when the sign outside says BBQ and there’s like ONE option on the menu, that’s just weak. Change your name!

The best chicken and rib joint around. Good food, great sauce! Always! The workers are friendly and your food is served super fast. The perfect lunch spot if you’re short on time.

No question this place is a dive, and in the summer, you’re likely going to sweat if you decide to dine-in, but the chicken is pretty damn good and your not going here for the ambience. Their chicken tender meal for $ 6.99 is a good amount of food, which includes fries and macaroni salad, and their wings are made to order. Don’t forget to get some of their famous Spicy’s house sauce for your wings.

Don’t let the appearance fool you… it is good olé«southern hospitality»! The fried chicken wings are great, the rib large and the hospitality awesome. Wonderful and enthusiastic staff. Give it a try!

THEBESTFRIEDCHICKEN! Almost as good as the Bellport location! Ribs OK, but should be cooked to render off some fat. The sauce isn’t as tasty here as in Bellport, so I ask for it on the side.

We were in the area at the Outlets and wanted some BBQ. This place is a total dive and gets two thumbs up for the fried chicken. or BBQ Chicken as they seem to call it(it’s not, it’s fried and then dipped in their bbq sauce). The chicken was wonderfully juicy, even the breast meat(which I suppose you’d expect for fried chicken). Their sides were decent but nothing extra special. I would definitely come back if I were in the area

Solid food, great service, I really enjoyed the fried chicken and BBQ pork and beef sandwich. The ribs were ok but definitely not what I’m used to when it comes to BBQ ribs.

This place is GREAT! I love total dive spots(that I actually feel safe in) … and this is a true dive bar original. Whenever you ask anyone about Spicy’s in Riverhead they talk about it like it is the Xanadu of fried chicken. I was a bit dissapointed to find out they only serve chicken wings … not actual fried chicken(breasts, drumsticks, etc.) I was looking forward to a fried chicken breast. Also, I hate the little pointy/flappy wing things … they creep me out. I’d like it if they let you get only the little drums for extra charge or something. I didn’t see anything overly amazing about the fried chicken wings … they seemed pretty standard to me. But I think the dive experience is what makes this place special. The sides are good as well. Collared greens, mac and cheese … all pretty standard tasting but good. The standout of the meal was the sweet potato pie. This was AMAZING!!! The best I’ve ever had … so fresh. I followed the other reviewer’s advice and did not try the BBQ but I had the sauce which tasted like a mustard based sweet sauce with a little bit of spice kick. I liked it … not enough to pay $ 7 for a jar of it, but enough where it made the wings super good. Prices aren’t quite dive bar prices. I think it was about $ 8 for a dozen wings and the sides were $ 2 each for a small. I got the wings and two sides and a slice of pie and wasn’t exactly full after the meal, but felt like it was a good meal. As far as the dive bar criteria … they have the traditional local staff who are grumpy in a sweet sort of way. The type who will seem a bit gruff or complain openly to the other workers about the conditions but then give you a wink and a smile when you get your food. The décor hasn’t been updated since the 1970s … you fully expect to see Huggy Bear sitting in a corner booth wearing a brightly colored pimp outfit. But that is a good thing … modernizing this restaurant’s décor would do it a dis-service. And most importantly, this has good CONSISTANT food that is served the same way it has been over the last 30 years, which is why people keep coming back. I know I will.

True fried chicken dive. If you come for the BBQ you are misplaced despite the name lol… wings, collard greens, Mac and cheese, cornbread and the best corn fritters out here are what you get when you come here — NOTBBQ go to codys down the road if u want that. If your not down to earth and patient(slow sometimes) don’t bother!

I have been coming to this place for years! It is true dive so don’t expect anything fancy. No AC, picnic style tables and it is serve yourself. The BBQ they cook is a St. Louis style– wet sauce. For all of you out there who don’t understand that BBQ isn’t one dimensional, there are different types of BBQs, HELLO! The best thing to get here is the whole fried chicken with sauce or the chicken sandwich. The pulled pork is okay but not the main attraction. For sides I would eat the collard greens, mac and cheese and corn bread. Some of the best wet BBQ I have ever had

Dirty and grungy. Normally that wouldn’t bother me for a backwoods awesome bbq joint. This place is neither. The bbq is boring and there’s no technique. Everyone behind the counter looked angry and pissed they were working there. Can’t blame them. And the ceiling was leaking into fish buckets scattered throughout the places seating area… what?

OK… Spicys is a bit scary at times. Staff is hit or miss as far as being accomodating. I don’t normally eat in, so I guess it can get hot as noted below. I never had an issue personally, but I usually get food and run. The chicken however is kick ass. Fried chicken is the specialty and it comes in full wings. I have watched them hand bread the wings many times, so def not frozen from a bag. Go there for one thing FRIEDCHICKEN. Best out there in my opinion. Sauce is different, but very good(mustard based). Fried chicken is 5 stars. Rest of stuff just OK. Collard greens and sweet potato pie are good. Rest so, so. Not a big fan of the ribs or slaw.
