I grew up in Riverside and this was always something that we look forward to the rolls always kind of tasted like Hawaiian bread but softer and the chicken is always tender and juicy yet crunchy it was still very delicious but definitely not the same recipes

Before you go off and read the 1 star reviews, keep in mind that most are complaints of the wait time, or cleanliness of this place. First of all, id prefer to get just made chicken out of the frier than chicken sitting in a pan for hours. The food here was good, not my ideal place for fried chicken but it was tasty. YES, it was greasy, but come on, its southern style fried chicken, in fact, its FRIEDCHICKEN! If you have a problem with waiting so long, Id suggest kfc or some other spot. The parking lot is not the biggest one in the world but then again the place isn’t packed nor does it have a dining place. And yes, the place isn’t a 2016 built building with fresh A/C and leather sofas but it does have some benches for waiting. Donahoos has a grade A so thats mainly all I need to know. Maybe it does have rats like the other comments state or maybe it does not. But the fact is that you see this building for the way it is and if you choose to come and buy, then complain about how it looks, you should of looked some other spot in the first place. But yes, the food is good, tasty, and the fresh buns are good as well. The prices are ok, the lady in the front was kind enough to make my order while I went to the Circle K to pull out cash, so it is a CASHONLY spot.

food was amazing for deep fried. i had the gizzards dinner they were really I personally cannot eat one meal by myself the portions are a lot I think one meal would be perfect for two persons the fries in the bread tasted amazing maybe some dipping sauce or something would give it five star other than that the lady helping me was kind of old believe he was the owner but I can’t really complain about the food.

This place is so yummy, the chicken is so crunchy and the bread has me coming back all time time. My favorite are the gizzards, the fries are like frozen bagged fries nothing special. The only this is this place is ugly it looks sort of dirty and unsanitary inside

HORRIBLEMEAL! Don’t waste your money or time. Just finished eating the food we ordered tonight. It was a 12 piece family meal for $ 26. The pieces of chicken were super small. Not filling at all. The bread rolls they give were decent, nothing spectacular. You’re better off buying the Hawaiian sweet bread rolls from the store. The worst part of the meal though was the mojos. They’re not seasoned at all. Wouldn’t hurt if they’d put a little salt on them. But even worse than the mojos being unseasoned was that the potatoes were bad! Underneath the breading, the outer layer of potato was a green color which means the presence of TOXICSOLANINE that can cause ILLNESS in high quantities. Bottom line, I WON’T be coming here again.

Use to Love this place except they take to long to prepare. To bad they can’t have chicken cooked ready to go. At the prices they charge, why not have ebt capabilities? Why do they hide behind the wall when cooking? How often do they clean the fryers? The place is not a customer eye appeal. Will never go back.

This place was the worst cost me $ 26.00 for a 12pc. Family meal got it home to feed my family it was dryed chicken jerky over salted and the mojos were over salted also the coleslaw tasted like it was made with a pound of sugar in it and a gallon of mayonnaise in an 8oz. Cup it was just horrible I was ashamed that had fed my grandchildren this crap. I would have felt better giving my grandchildren cake ice-cream and hot cheetos for dinner. The quality of this food was herrendous.

Wow by far«THEWORSTCHICKEN» I have every eaten!!! We moved here in April and have wanted to try this place for awhile. I have eaten at the one in Ontario«SOGOOD» I just can’t understand how this place could be the exact opposite. The chicken was greasy and looked more like pieces of a Cornish hen and taste like I was bitting in to a greasy dish rag. The coleslaw was a blob gooey brown and green mass with mayo.

I never got to try the food. I came here because the Pomona location has been a favorite of mine for years! The place is old and run down. We walked in and 2 not so desirable people were at the counter and had already ordered and received some food. They told us to go ahead, even though they were talking about something with the two Asian ladies who work there. The women were not happy about the ppl on the place and we’re potentially arguing with each other in another language. I began to speak my order, when the 2 women started arguing again. I stopped. The shady ppl in the place started eating their food right there at the counter. The guy took out a thousand island dressing dipped his chicken, bit it and closed it. He handed it to the lady and wanted a new flavor. She TOOK it from him and was going to put it back. He ate out if it. The 2 workers still arguing told him to pay for another flavor. All the while my family and I are just standing there. Watching her go to put the thousand island back, I almost lost it. I was going to order that for my salad. We walked out. I will never go back. Keep driving to Pomona.

So I was so excited to go to Donahoo’s I heard great things about this place. As I took a few bites of my chicken I realize it was oozing out blood. I called them to tell them about my discovering to get some kind of reimbursement; the lady who picked up the phone gave me a answer like«so what, that’s your problem» then she told me to bring the bloody chicken back in so they could replace that one piece of chicken when I order a 8PC family dinner. If they would have appreciated me as a customer, I would have never wrote this review and put them on blast for their bloody chicken. I would never go back. Hope you don’t either…

Horrible place If you want REAL donahoos I suggest you drive to Pomona off the 10 freeway and Garey Ave Like seriously this place is a complete rip off The chicken strips are LESS then half the size from Pomona for the same price Food took 25 mins to make and came out dry and tasteless The whole dinner box every item is crap quality Go to Pomona bottom line They were out of ketchup hot sauce and all sodas no bbq sauce no nothing

I was skeptical when my Unilocal App showed that Donahoo’s was close by. I had been to the Donahoo’s in Pomona several times and have not been impressed. I am glad that I gave this place a chance. The area did not look too nice as I drove up to the place. The restaurant itself looked like a run down shack. They had a counter where you order and some benches for you to sit while you wait for your chicken. No tables for you to eat at. As I entered, I was greeted by 2 Filipino Aunties that were babysitting a young child. It didn’t look promising. I ordered their special consisting of 4 pieces of chicken and a roll. They accept cash only. They took my money and told me to wait. This Donahoo’s location is different from the Pomona location in that they do not fry the chicken until you order it. While waiting, I was able to read the Unilocal reviews and saw that one of the complaints about this place is the wait. It took about 20 minutes before they finally gave me my chicken. If you are pressed for time, you need to call ahead, or go to KFC or Popeye’s. Their chicken was good. They had a good batter and they fried it to perfection. After frying it, they sprinkle some seasoning salt on the chicken. Their chicken had a good texture and crunch to it, just the way I like it. Great place for take out fried chicken when in Riverside. Make sure you call them first so you do have to stay too long in their shack. Don’t let the other Donahoo’s locations fool you. This location is better.

We were recently in Riverside and we ended up going to this restaurant twice because it’s so good! I couldn’t get over the delicious yeasty roll that came with the meal. I thought I had been transported back to the 1950s! The fried chicken was made-to-order so it was delicious and fresh. The leftovers were even tasty cold. I also appreciated the fresh-grated carrots on the dinner salad. It seems like almost everything there is fresh and made from scratch. Call ahead because it’s at least a twenty-minute wait for real food.

Fried chicken just tend to make you feel better about life –The Help 2011. Donahoo’s seasoning and golden deep fried crispy skin and moist chicken is what makes me hum«mmm-hmmm, good». I know it’s unhealthy eating fried chicken often but the texture and crunch is what has me craving this chick! It’s cash only, reasonable prices, and service may not always be consistent or prompt since there occasionally short staffed and food is made to order. But, as I eagerly sit and wait they have yet to disappoint!

I absolutely LOVE gizzard and just imagine it deep fried! Isn’t that just delicious? The chicken is great and full of flavor. We actually wanted to try the liver but the owner said that their shipment hasn’t come for a week(but I will definitely come by another day to try the liver). This gem is kind of a diamond hidden in the rough. The area is kind of sketchy, so I definitely recommend calling ahead since it takes about 20 – 25 min for the food to be ready. Donahoo’s doesn’t really have a dine-in option since I didn’t notice any table or chairs. It’s pretty much a place to order and take your food to go. So come hungry and leave happy! :]
