Amazing muffins, delicious cookies and beautiful cakes. The service has been wonderful and they have made holiday dinners easy with pies, scones and biscuits.

Absolutley the best! The muffins are addicting and the cakes are really terrific. You would never know they were gluten free. Thanks for coming to Riverside, Flur!!!

Have you ever tried Flur’s macaroons? I had never tried a macaroon until now. I tasted the Salted Caramel. I paused. And then I wanted 10 more.

Cusomer service at Flur is non-existent. I WILLNEVERORDERFROMTHISBAKERYAGAIN! Most of my family and friends are gluten-free, so I wanted to order a cake for my mothers 71st birthday. Customer service is absolutely horrible! It took me 3DAYS to order a gluten-free cake. I called Wednesday late morning to order a cake for Saturday.. I was asked to hold and then hung up on. It happens, no big deal. So I called back and when I tried to place the order I was told that they didn’t know if they could do it… and had to verify with the chef who was too busy. So instead of taking my information they told me to call back later. I called back Thursday morning and was told that they still didn’t know if they could do it and needed to ask the chef. … who was not available. Again, instead of taking my information, I was told to call the chef on her cell phone. I questioned whether that was appropriate and I was told by Vanessa that it was fine. I asked if it would make sense for her to call her boss and get back to me and she said no… so I called Adriana, chef and owner and left her a message.. apologizing for calling her personal cell phone and explaining that I was trying to order a cake for Saturday. NORETURNCALL!!! So… since I don’t know of another gluten-free bakery in the area, I was at their mercy and drove an hour and half through traffic from Lincoln Park to order my mothers birthday cake on Friday morning! At first I was told that it was too late and when I said that I had been trying to order a cake for 3 days, she said… «are you Laura? I was going to call you today» … So I ordered the cake, paid for it and left. I was sooooo glad. I thanked Olivia who helped me and wished her a good day. Saturday afternoon my sister went to pick up the cake, and she was told that the cake was not paid for. Even though i gave her the receipt, they said that it was not paid for!!! The owner said she needed to check and actually took the cake off the counter like we were going to take off without paying for the cake! After they double checked, they said that I did pay for it and gave the cake to my sister. No apology! My sister had previously spoken to the owner who told her how she really wanted to increase her business. When my sister told her that I had some trouble ordering the cake. she expressed that her staff complained about me!!! 3 days to order a cake… no calls back. …and I left thanking her staff on Friday. So many issues with picking up the cake and we were treated like we were trying to swindle a cake! No apology. All I wanted was to give my mom a birthday she could eat. I never asked for anything more than what I paid for. Customer service means taking an initiative… I should have never had to make a second call. Or a third call… For an owner to allow her staff to treat customers this way is not acceptable. Nor is it acceptable for an owner to express that the paying customer is the problem! It’s a shame that this talented chef is losing business because of customer service issues. My mom absolutely loved this cake!!! Chocolate raspberry and one of the best cakes I have ever had. It was moist and delicious; beautifully decorated. Unfortunately it’s not worth the hassle and more importantly it’s not worth the way that we were treated. Flur lost my business and my sister has also said that she will not be a Flur customer any longer!

I’ve tried many many muffins in my time and am an avid baker myself, and their carrot muffin is the best I’ve had anywhere, gluten free or otherwise. Delicious macarons — I especially love the lemon and vanilla varieties. Perfect ratio of cookie to filling, and always both traditional and creative new flavors to choose from. I tend to prefer the old standby’s, but still, I like to try the non-traditional flavors too. And they are just the nicest people. Fantastic addition to the community.

They have quality products with good ingredients, transparently represented to the customer. The macaroons were especially good. I also couldn’t believe that they were gluten free since they tasted so good. Will return.

Flur is definitely my Riverside bakery of choice(with Fiore being the other option). Sometimes we like to grab a quick sweet or chai tea latte in the mornings before work. A few times we have tried to go to Fiore(just to try something different – not because we weren’t happy with Flur) and I was pretty disappointed that there was just a sign on the door that said something about not being able to consistently keep the storefront open due to all the catering orders. In all the times I’ve gone ton Flur, there has never been a sign like that. I’m not trying to bash Fiore here in a Flur review, but I do think it’s worth mentioning because it’s the only direct local competition. Anyway, I’ve been here a few times to grab some of the day-old bakery items(they’re in a basket for only $ 1 each). Honestly, if there’s every anything in that basket, I’ll go for it. Usually, there are chopped up brownie squares or chocolate chip cookies(they probably keep better than the muffins for the next day… or maybe the muffins always sell out). The chai tea latte is definitely as good or better than the iced one at Starbucks. When I discovered Flur was a gluten free bakery, I was shocked. Here I had tried a bunch of different pastry items, loved them, and never realized they lacked gluten! I had this major stigma in my mind that any baked good without gluten is not worth eating(except for people with gluten intolerances who would be happy with the next best thing). Boy, was I wrong. Flur showed me! Everything I’ve tried here has been five stars in quality. The only reason I elected to subtract a star is because it can actually get really busy and it’s impossible to get a seat. Sometimes I just want to sit down and get some wifi. However, if I order and then there’s nowhere to sit, then the whole point of my visit is moot. There are still a bunch of items off the menu that I would love to try, so you can bet I’ll be back!

I hate writing a bad review considering I was so excited to visit this place. Granted, my last macarons were in Cannes France so I had high expectations! I found the macarons were too sugary and did not have as much flavor as I was hoping. As an example, I couldn’t taste the lavender in one macaron. My coworker couldn’t taste it either. The nutella version was okay but nothing special. Disappointing. :(The biscotti was satisfactory.

This bakery is amazing! If you come here you seriously will not regret it. I’m very picky when it comes to desserts; if I want a banana muffin or a raspberry macaron, I want to taste the banana or the raspberry, I don’t want to taste a gulp of sugar and I am so happy that with flur you can taste the flavors, it’s not overly sweet, and it’s gluten free and you wouldn’t even know that by tasting it. I don’t keep coming here because it’s gluten free(which some do or need to and that’s fine :)!!) but I come back because this place is so good and the owner and everyone working there is so nice! Love this place and love the banana chocolate chip muffin! Their macarons are amazing too !!

Cute little shop. I tried going here a couple of times but they were always closed. If they could be open a little longer it’ll be great! The flavor on the macaroons were good. They had a good variety. A little on the sugary side though. Def worth a try

I went in and bought a mixed box of these for a dinner party. They were a big hit. Everyone enjoyed them including me. When I went in there the owner took time out to explain everything to me and say hi. Her staff was very helpful and professional. I’m pretty happy to have a place like this in town.

Get your French macs here! There are plenty of flavors from which to choose, about 16 daily, plus seasonal variations. They are now my number one destination for macs. What sets them apart from other bakeries that make macs is perfection, consistency and technique. Every mac is just the right size and ratio of «cookie» to filling, the outside is both flakey and chewy when you bite into it, with delicious flavorful and moist fillings. Never dry or overly crumbly. I have yet to taste one that didn’t surprise me with a punch of flavor often too subdued at other bakeries. They are just the right size– not too tiny and not on steroids, but just ample enough and expertly crafted so they are little works of art visually, and of course to your taste buds. My favorite flavor so far is the Nutella filled with toasted hazelnut, probably because(as with most of their products there), they make their own, as in homemade Nutella; as in all the flavor shots you can order in their coffee beverages, and so on. Try the Nutella French Mac with their Italian coffee(begins with a C but I forgot). It is the perfect combo, particularly theirs. Besides the macs, they offer many other fine pastries and desserts, like tiramisu, mousses, cupcakes, scones, muffins, cookies, tarts and so on. They are beautiful and guess what? The entire bakery is gluten free, but you’d never in a million years know that from the taste. I’ve had several now and they are yummy! It’s quite a cute bakery a stone’s throw from the Metra station. There is some seating and tables but it’s not much and it’s often filled up with regulars, at least when I’ve visited. It’s not anywhere I would want to linger simply due to space. It just felt a little cramped, but it is certainly cute. Despite the space limitations, I have to mention the owner, chef and staff. They are so friendly and so proud of their product! Flur is indeed a gluten free bakery, but their motto is «Flavor First» and they truly live up to that in my opinion. I really enjoyed meeting them and talking to them; super nice, even offering a couple freebies to try on my first visit. Smart, cuz the products really sell themselves once you take your first taste. In any case, this is where I’m coming from now on when I want to gift French macs. They have boxes in at least 6 and 12, that include molded shells that protect each mac. I’ve never been more confident that my macs were safe from breakage. Safe from my mouth? Well, that’s a different story. ;)

Great Gluten Free Bakery! I had the banana chocolate muffin… all I have to say is Yumo! Super moist and absolutely delicious. Just because its gluten free does not mean it has to taste like cardboard! Roger one of the co-founders was really nice. ;)

While I’m not gluten-free, I’ve tasted my fair share of gluten-free baked goods via friends that are anywhere from true celiacs to those that are merely bandwagon jumpers. Regardless, the taste and texture of gluten-free treats usually leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Not so at Flur. Flur is my go-to for the lightest, fluffiest and flat-out best blueberry muffin I’ve ever had. Tons of fresh blueberries and not too sweet, so light-as-air that it could lean toward angel food cake territory. It’s perfect for a quick breakfast and you don’t feel like you’ve just eaten a dense-baked brick. Their brownies have been a crowd-pleaser for kids and adults at my house. I never mention they’re gluten-free unless I have to. Also, the insanely gorgeous macarons make an impressive sweet gift. At least my mom thought so on Mother’s Day. Basically, if you don’t have to worry about gluten-free, don’t. Just go to Flur for your baked goods(they make awesome custom cakes, too!) and you’ll please everyone every time.

Another all gluten free bakery! I had to bring a dessert to a dinner party, and the host has celiac. I don’t possess the love for baking, but I do possess the love for bakeries! I googled and Unilocaled my way to Flur! The bakery is not that big, but it is easy to find, directly across from the Metra in Riverside. A cute little shop with some of the friendliest workers. I arrived around 8am on a Saturday morning and they had a big selection of macaroons to choose from — along with cookies and cupcakes and a few other items. I knew I was going to buy macaroons though, so I didn’t pay much attention to everything else. The workers and owner described the flavors and helped me select a dozen, which was boxed up so prettily — perfect for a host gift! They gave me a coffee macaroon to sample while I was waiting — and it was delicious! They also had three liquor filled macaroons — which I added to my dozen. They are pricey($ 26 for a dozen)! Everyone at the party loved them, and the host appreciated a gluten free dessert. Great little shop — I would highly recommend!

Someone pinch me. Can all of these delicious baked goods from Flur actually be gluten free? Before tasting the goods available at Flur, my impression of gluten free foods were tasteless imitations of the decadent«real thing.» Flur completely overturned that impression and left me saying, «Wow. This is amazing!» After trying a brownie and orange cranberry muffin, I was in awe. I actually had to look online to check that this bakery was actually gluten-free because these baked goods weren’t just good for gluten free. They were fantastic on their own! The brownie, my absolute favorite of what I have tried there, was perhaps one of the best brownies I have ever had. It was rich, thick, sweet, light, and fluffy all at the same time. Who knew that was possible in a brownie? Yum. Since the macarons were not available on the opening day, I returned the following week to sample a few. I bought the chocolate and pistachio macarons. The flavors in both of the macarons’ exterior cookies and fillings complemented each other perfectly. My only complaint was that there were some pretty sizable air bubbles, which created a partly hollowed out interior. I’m optimistic that this was just a bad batch, so I’ll be back to sample more flavors. Additionally, I prefer macarons with more filling(which is completely my personal preference, not an objective assessment). Overall, I am a fan of the macarons, even if I found them to be out of my regular purchase price range. Since the business is just starting out, I have just a few suggestions, too: –Expand the hours. It’s great that you cover the morning commute to work crowd, but what about 9−5ers who can’t make it over in the morning? What about students after school? –Advertise that you’re gluten-free more. When I visited during the first week, I did not see that information posted anywhere. In conclusion, I am absolutely ecstatic about this wonderful addition to Riverside businesses. A delicious bakery is exactly what this town needs! The prime location and ample parking space really gives you no excuse to try this wonderful bakery for yourself. I promise you will not be disappointed, especially by those mouth-wateringly perfect brownies. I look forward to seeing the business Flur-ish! Quick facts: –Flur also bakes and decorates absolutely stunning cakes! –There’s an online store, where you can order biscotti, macarons, cookies, or brownies.
