Rockstar Shrimp

Picture this: whatever seafood your heart desires, by the pound, bathed in Cajun sauce, as spicy (or not) as you can handle. Not put that mental picture in a plastic bag, put it on top of a table topped with paper and get your grub on! Welcome to Rockstar shrimp.
Don’t get me wrong, the food is good (however, their rice could use some work) but the service here was subpar. Our server left before our meal was done and left our table with another server. Maybe he had somewhere to be? I don’t know. Our new server didn’t come back for our checks and when I took I it up to the register, she was on the phone and seemed like I was bothering her for trying to pay for my meal. Someone else in street clothes came in and hung out behind the counter chatting with the servers drinking his boba that made me jealous I didn’t have one too. (That’s beside the point and has nothing at all to do with my little rant) maybe he worked there too and was coming in to say hi to his coworkers on his day off? Again, I don’t know. But at least do it on the other side of the counter or go around the corner where we can’t see you or something. Our family seemed to enjoy the food regardless of the service anyhow.

Not the best but not as bad as kicking crab, that’s gives you very little sauce.
We ordered 2lbs of shrimp and 1lb of Clams they must’ve gotten the order wrong.
Very little shrimp, Clams were on the smaller side, the fries were amazing but left unsatisfied.
There was a decent amount of sauce, that was very light in color, not much garlic or butter at all.

I am not reviewing the food as I am allergic to shrimp. This review is about their business practices. I stopped in to pick up a bag of shrimp for my daughter. I ordered, paid, and was handed a bag of shrimp and left. The entire process took less than 5 mins. As you can see in the photo’s, Rockstar Shrimp took it upon themselves to add a $ 2 tip to my receipt after I signed it and left. Their policy states they will add an 18% gratuity to parties of 5 or more. I was a party of one who never even sat down. No where is disclosed that there would be and added 18% gratuity to stand at the counter and be handed a bag. This practice is illegal.
*****update: the owner contacted me with a suitable explanation and a resolution. I updated to 4 stars based on good follow up, and the fact that my daughter raves about the food. She asks for it about 2 – 3 times per week.

This place is good if you want a cajuny seafood fix but I found it meh. The Holy Moly sauce had the heat, which I liked, but it tasted like there was flour in the sauce so it was kind of pasty-​tasting. It was kind of hard to get through but the heat kept me going. I want to explore other similar places before I decide if I’ll go back. I’m obsessed with Kickin Crab in the OC and was hoping to find something similar here. :/

My boyfriend and I come here quite a bit, and we love it! The customer service is beyond wonderful. The servers are always on top of everything, friendly and fast, not to mention the food is AMAZING!!! Why go to boiling crab and wait 2 hours when you can come here and get even better service and the wait is never more than 10 minutes if there is one

As much as I love the flavors of this place… the bathroom situation just totally downgraded my view of this establishment… dirty bathrooms aren’t a good sign that everything else is clean in the restaurant… please clean your bathrooms. both of them… took my dad and he was so disgusted.

Love the atmosphere here. And the staff are super friendly. I appreciate the nice service. The food was amazing and the fries are worth the trip.

This place is amazing! Don’t let the fact it is in a strip mall steer you away! The prices are unbelievable for seafood and it is uniquely prepared and served. If you want to have a great time with family and friends and enjoy a unique dining experience, this is it! Don’t wear anything you might not want to get dirty though and the bibs are provided for a reason!

Not one to do this but I’ve tried many places similar & this one has to be definitely ZERO stars if it wasn’t for Unilocal.First, ordered a beer, received it with disgusting brown residue inside the tip of the bottle. They didn’t want to give us a new one either! FOOD WAS DISGUSTING! NO FLAVOR & super WATERED DOWN. Service was absolutely horrible! And seriously, what restaurant doesn’t have sugar?!?

Went here today on my lunch break. We called in the order before we went so we wouldn’t have to wait too long. The order was nice and hot and ready when we got there. The food was amazing 3 bags of shrimp 1 lbs sausage and ½ pound potatoes was perfect for (4) people.

My husband and I were in the mood for shrimp. ran across this place, decided to go in. We got seated immediately, they took our order and in less then 15 we had our food! The food was delicious, I ordered a lbs of shrimp with potatoes, now I’ve been to different shrimp places that sale half pounds of shrimp and I can never finish them so being that they only sale lbs no half lbs I only ordered one to share with my husband and plus some wings I thought we’d be good, that wasn’t the case. I’m pretty sure we got less then a half lbs but it’s okay we ordered fries and got full. Because of the taste we’ll probably come back but portion wise. not what we expected! And probably bring our own buffalo sauce since they don’t give you any.

This place is good! The food is decent.
My rice was a little old and the place is small so they can only accommodate a few tables at a time so a lot of people ended up waiting. The service was kind of meh– and they forgot our fries :(
The shrimp and sauce were good, and those Cajun fries were great. It wasn’t amazing or out of this world but it was good and I would come back again.

Whoever said this place was better than Boiling crab must’ve only had the oysters because that was the only thing I enjoyed. We ordered that, shrimp, crawfish and fries. The crawfish was totally bland. The shrimp was okay but nothing spectacular. We got the Holy Moly sauce too! The fries weren’t bad but I didn’t come here for fries. So disappointing. This was NOT a good replica of a Louisiana crawfish boil.

What other cajun seafood place is there in Riverside? Ok then, this place will-​do. There’s no room to here so if you sit against the wall your glutes may brush up on or against someone else’s table if you’re getting up to go to the rest room and vice versa. They definitely need to get a bigger space.

This is my go-​to seafood restaurant in Riverside. Staffs are friendly and the food is delicious! We came in for dinner at 9PM (just an hour before closing time) but our order of shrimp and crawfish was surprisingly very fresh and tasty. Now, the flavor is not as great as the Cajun seafood I’ve had in Texas or the famous Louisiana crawfish, but it definitely beats most of the seafood restaurants locally.
Holy Moly is a must. It’s spicy enough to give you the sniffles, but not too hot for you to shred tears. If you feel like the portion is a bit small, order a side of Cajun fries! 4 bucks and you’ll get a huge basket that’ll certainly fill you up.
Loved my experience there. Would I recommend it to my friends? Definitely.

Pretty good. Went here with some friends, since it’s a great place for groups!
Downside: it took awhile to get our food but once we got it, it was pretty yummy!
The pricing isn’t too bad for seafood. I will definitely have to revisit !

Best spot in riverside for Cajun grub. If you just want a «small» bite, the bowls or fish and chips are more than enough to satiate any craving. My favorite part is that the sauce here is ACTUALLY spicy. They also have a fair variety of beers to choose from. Must try if in riverside.

I think this place is just as good as boiling crab! Especially for the location. Riverside doesn’t have much to choose from.
The food is great, never a complaint there besides the $ 1 per fried oysters): they are delicious, but the price is not worth the size and portion they serve.
The 1 pound bag of seafood is great, and their delicious cajun fries are never a disappointment. They load the basket and overfill it to the point where fries are falling off. I love it. Their spice levels are pretty good too. I recommend kick me, for the perfect spice level.
Their bowl options aren’t that great though, I prefer getting their pounds of seafood.
Customer service is great! Always nice and accommodating workers! Shirley is the sweetest :)

So these guys took over the old location where Sushi Station use to be. I personally had a good experience here, minus the insane wait. That has to be the worst part of the visit.
The food was what you’d expect from such a venue, though I must admit the medium spice was crazy hot (or maybe I’m getting old). Ultimately it’s worth a trip. It’s great for parties but expect to wait a while.

Came in today for a family dinner night. I’m all for finding new places to eat and exploring different food
The service is great, and the food is really good. The only thing that I disliked was the undercooked wings, there was still blood in the center. I ordered a variety of things off the menu and everything was good.
