Tilden Farms

This place must be saving the good stuff for the Laguna Farmers market or whatever the other reviewers are talking about… I live right here in Riverside and usually go to the downtown farmers market or Sprouts but I was close to this place and though I’d give it a try… BAD IDEA! I spent 20 bucks on fruit (peaches, nectarines, cherries, and bananas) that I had to throw in the trash… if it didn’t have worms in it, it had no taste… BAD! The place was pretty gross and I really should not have even bought anything in the first place, instinct I believe its called… never again will I go there!

You can always count on Tilden Farms to have the most delicious fruits and avocados EVER. Every year my boyfriend and I look forward to the summer when they pull out their reed avocados. Not only are they the biggest avocados youve ever seen they are perfectly creamy and flavorful. THE BEST. In August they have ginormous mangoes that are the sweetest and juiciest I have ever had (even better than the ones i had in mexico as a kid!). I currently have a 10lb bag of their naval oranges that i cant get enough of. Jimmy (who we affectionately call call «avocado man») is always extremely helpful and knows everything you could possibly want to know about their produce. I cant sing their praises enough. Plus supporting local growers is always great!

I go to the Farmer’s Market at the Laguna Hills Mall (Fridays 9am-​1pm) to get the avocado’s and oranges from them. I am a avocado lover and he ALWAYS has he best. He can pick up one, squeeze and tell you when they are ready to eat… and he is never wrong. My friend used to (lovingly) call him the avocado nazi since he will say something like ‘don’t eat this before Thursday… but he is always right! The oranges are also to die for! My kids are currently on their second one each and told me to say that they are «the best oranges ever!»! They are a really great family who really takes pride in their produce and you will not be disappointed!

At the Laguna Niguel Farmers Market I should add. OOOH BOY! Oh, those Oranges are too die for! The absolute best. Sweet! Juicy! One of the last of the locally grown (Riverside) orange ranches that California used to be known for. Better than Gelson’s, better than Bristol Farms, even better than even the unassailable Trader Joes. I can get 8 ounces of fresh juice from three of their baseball sized oranges. Few seeds too. In fact no seeds in winter when the Valencias are in. Wonderful, friendly long time family run company, I try and go each Sunday at the Laguna Niguel Farmers Market on La Paz. 9 am– 1 pm Saturdays, they are at the Farmers Market in Laguna Beach. 8am– 12 noon. Prices are extremely reasonable. The 10 lb. bag of 15 – 17 large juicy oranges for something like $ 5.00 a bag. Smaller bags available for less. They go to other farmers markets in Orange County, like Anaheim and Laguna Hills .
At present, they have wonderful fresh Lemons, Apples, Persimmons, Grapefruit. Big Avocados! Go early because they regularly sell out! something different each week as what the ranch grows comes in.
