The food was great as always. However, on a father’s day, there was no staff dancing, not a single Opa or entertainment from 4 – 5:30 pm. on a special day like this. Staff was short-handed and there was NO bread, out and I got the wrong drink order. This place is usually great but they blew it on Father’s day 2016!

Sat outside and waiter took 20 mins to check on us. It was 430pm and like 5 people here. Drinks sucked and they changed the drink menu today even though the menu says something else. Won’t be back.

Went here for dinner and left absolutely stuffed! The warm bread was excellent. The calamari was delicious. The chicken gyro was as expected. My husband had the pork souvlaki platter and greatly enjoyed it, although the Greek fries were nothing special. We didn’t order alcohol, but it looks like they have excellent happy hour specials. However, it was extermely loud when we walked in. There was belly dancing and live music, and the amplifier was set to «deafen». The staff also broke plates and threw napkins mid-dinner, which was different and entertaining for a second, but then just seemed messy and irritating… I kept wanting to ask the staff for a broom. Given the generous portions and reasonable prices we will definitely go back, but we might sit outside next time.

Place is fantastic! Authentic fun and the food is always impressive. Thank God for samplers or the table would hate me, I’m always the last to order lol. Open late it’s always a great option and I appreciate the hours.

Ordered to go because I was in a hurry and wanted more then fast food(I don’t do fast food) I’ve had the food here plenty of times. I love the gyros. I parked my car and as I walked to the front door of the building a server not only cut me off but when he opened the door he didn’t even bother to hold it open for me. It practically shut in my face. So I was a little irritated with that. I sat at the bar to pay for my food and the bartender hardly acknowledged me. The staff seems rude. One female server rang me up and answered some of my questions. She was pleasant. Other then that, if it were me I would fire the two men that I crossed paths with previously. All in all great food and the restaurant is clean and the décor is beautiful. I would love to come here and smoke hookah on the patio while studying or with a friend or two.

My favorite restaurant by far! Mainly because I just love Greek food :) but also because the food AND service is always exceptional! I can choose to sit outside and enjoy a relaxed lunch, or inside for a peaceful dinner! The location is also a perfect little quaint place to spend your weekend afternoon!

On hold for 5 minutes to place a to go order after calling twice and ringing off the hook. Called back and told 25 to 30 minutes to pick up an acropolis salad and gyro. Canceled order and went elsewhere. Dont order to go. Not first time lousy service from here. Kids working here who seem clueless. Need management to run business not clueless kids.

I went there by myself for lunch. The food was very good. I had the tzatziki appetizer. Then had the chicken gyro. Had to get a doggy bag so much food! The service however was not as pleasant. The server while nice to look at, was not at all nice. He was extraordinarily terse. He only came to the table three times each time more irritated than the next. I thought maybe because I was by myself he thought I might not tip him well? Then I noticed he took the same attitude to other tables as well. Maybe he was having a bad day.

You always know what you are going to get with a Acropolis. Went there for lunch and it was very good. I got the Fira Fish Sandwich — and it was one a of the best I ever had. Fish was perfected fried, and the bun was toasted nicely. How have I not had this earlier? For the appetizer, I got the blackened octopus-good flavor and good portion sizes. It may have been slightly overdone, but not by much My wife an mother-in-law really enjoyed their Gyros. There were some minor negatives. — Two of the bread plates had chips, and we had to get them replaced. — I personally wish they have a better beer selection, but they did have Jai Alai. The services is always very friendly and knowledgeable. I really like that our server would go out on a limb and specifically recommend items.

Greek food is amazing and if you like Greek then this is the place to go. The Greek Salads are the best around. Everything from the lettuce to the Feta is fresh. The dressing is made at the restaurant using a secret recipe which really compliments the salad. I can’t stand store bought dressing. I feel that if a restaurant doesn’t cut corners on salad dressing then they won’t cut corners anywhere else.

Absolutely a great place to go to. Super worth it. $ 8 gyros, $ 8 salmon wraps and 2 for 1 happy hour on weekends. They even have live music and a belly dancer on the weekends. If you have a date and don’t want it to come out too expensive u should go here. It’s still very nice and it had a good ambiance. The octopus appetizer is a great choice to start off with.

I enjoyed eating here a lot! I’d give it 4 stars because I’m not a huge Greek food fan, but their(blackened) salmon sandwich they have… BOMB! I am now a fan haha It is truly mouth watering. And we got some fries on the side topped with feta, which were devine! It was pretty quiet when we went for lunch and the waitress we had was very friendly and helpful. Overall, a great spot for lunch and grab a couple drinks! They had a special for 2 for 1 cocktails! Not sure if it’s a daily thing or not, but my drink was delicious!

My first dining experience as a new resident of Riverview! I have bookmarked this place months ago and I was not disappointed. We went during happy hour and EVERY drink sold at the place was buy one get one; not just domestic beers or speciality cocktails! For apps we tried the tzaitki sauce served with warm pita, grilled octopus, and fried mushrooms. The portions were plentiful and just enough to share amongst a few of us. For dinner I had the beef shish –kebob, nothing to write home about but cooked and seasoned well, I would probably go with another dinner choice next time or just go for the happy hour and some apps!

Acropolis Greek Taverna is a family-owned restaurant that has been in business for over twenty years. Since I am not very familiar with Greek Style cuisine, so I thought that the South Tampa location on West Kennedy Blvd and Jersey Ave would be the perfect place for my friends and me to try something different and a share some laughs over a few glasses of wine. I visited this place on a chilly Thursday night at around 7:30 pm. When I walked in I immediately took note of the dim lighting throughout that set the ambiance. The dining area was humming with activity and music was loudly played throughout the restaurant. I quickly scanned the restaurant and noticed a balanced mixture of patrons, so I did not feel over or underdressed. I ordered two glasses of wine. My first order was the Limnos, which is a white dessert wine. Overall, it tasted slightly sweet, bright, with a generous dose of honey and hints of citrus. I would highly recommend the Limnos for a person who orders Moscato d’Asti with dinner. I liked my choice, but I wanted my second glass had to be one that wasn’t as sweet. My second glass was the house Pinot Grigio. Pinot Grigio is a dry white wine that tends to be fruity and crisp. There were large pitchers of water on the table, so we didn’t have to keep bugging our server for refills. We ordered two appetizers for our table. The first one was the Saganaki. Our server stated that it was a popular choice and one of her personal favorites. The Saganaki is a grilled Kefalograviera cheese flambé served with warm pita bread. A cognac was added to the hot pan to create a burst of flames. It was entertaining as well as delicious. The other appetizer was roasted red pepper hummus served with warm pita bread. I thought the hummus was tasty as well, but I just love hummus in general. For my entrée, I ordered the shish kabob; char-grilled beefsteak medallions skewered with tomatoes, onions, and peppers. I had a choice of two sides, so I ordered«Greek» fries(thick cut steak fries topped with crumbled feta cheese) and Greek potatoes(roasted potatoes with peppers and onion) My shish kabob was good, and it wasn’t overseasoned. Over seasoning is one of my main pet peeves when it comes to dining out; especially when it comes to grilling a steak. One of my friends ordered the chicken kabob, and thought highly of it, and the Greek salad was also fresh and tasty. My only complaint was that the sides were cold while the main entrée was still hot. Everything is fairly priced here. The appetizers ranged from $ 7-$ 10. Aside from the Ouzo Mussels and the Appetizer Platter which were both $ 12. The wraps and sandwiches are not only filling and healthy; they are well priced, ranging from $ 7-$ 10. There are a wide variety of salads that range from $ 10-$ 13, and the entrees range from $ 12-$ 21. There is one specialty item on this menu which is the«mixed grill.» The mixed grill serves up to four people and consists of a shish kabob, a chicken kabob, lamb chops, Greek meatballs, and Pork Souvlaki and two sides. If you just want to order a side item or soup, they range from $ 4-$ 5. So all in all, you don’t have to break the bank to eat here. Not to mention, the portions were huge! Most of my friends took their meals home. I didn’t as my meal was not a heavy meal and was well balanced. I would recommend this place for dinner with friends or a date for two. I removed a star because the music was overpowering and didn’t like that had to talk over the music to communicate with my friends. Aside from the booming music(not including the dance that they do for birthdays and what not), the food and wine were outstanding and I enjoyed dining here. I must add that there is complimentary valet parking and that is a plus.

I’ve been to many Acropolis locations and this one is pretty good. The location was convenient for my pedicure visit this past Saturday, but I don’t think people would go out of their way to eat here. It is located by Starbucks as well as a place that has changed names sooo many times(now Eats!). There is outdoor seating, with heaters and is easy to find. The inside is very loud so choose outdoor seating if you want to talk to your dining partner. The food is really good. Hot, fresh and tasty. I did use the salt shaker, but I appreciate a place that doesn’t over salt their food. Happy hour(3−7pm everyday) includes beer, wine, sangria and martinis. Had the cucumber martini which was super refreshing and light. Also had a Acropotini, which was tasty but too sweet. The chicken gyro was delicious and big for $ 8. We also tried the new spicy feta spread for $ 7. Complimentary bread is served with tzatziki as well. Everything was delightful. They make a fuss over birthday parties inside and throw napkins everywhere. If you’re shy, don’t choose this one for your birthday. They also have a regular bellydancer indoors who is not shy. Might want to leave the kids home for the dinner hours.

This is an updated review. Stopped here for lunch with a friend, we had the Tirosalada(sp) as an appetizer, she had a roasted veggie salad and I had the Korfu chicken sandwich with the fries. The food was awesome and there was a lot of it! The appetizer was excellent, pits bread was so good. The feta cheese on the fries was great, nice touch, can’t really go wrong with cheese! She loved her salad and there was enough left over for at least another meal. It was a quite afternoon and our server was attentive and didn’t have any issues with us just sitting there and chatting for a bit. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I’ve only ever been to the Acropolis in Ybor, so I was excited to get a chance to go to this location. We arrived there pretty early, around 7, on a Thursday, so it wasn’t too crowded. My sister and I both had cocktails, that were brought to us very quickly and were quite delicious. I ordered the feta stuffed fried eggplant and my sister has the calamari. we both really enjoyed our meals. If I’m ever in this area again around dinnertime, I’ll definitely be back.
