This place is awesome! It’s clean and has a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff is great and I think it was Jennifer that helped me. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I did not purchase a groupon and I still got great pricing. I will definitely come back again next time I’m in town. I think they now offer deals on Ultherapy. I definitely recommend this place!

I saw a deal on for discounted treatments for the month of February. I booked a $ 39 massage here. The receptionist was not friendly at all. The masseus barely spoke English. She asked me if there were any areas in particular I wanted work on. I told her my shoulders were tight. At times during the massage she would push down with the pads of her fingers so gently, I wondered what good it was doing. She did work more on my shoulders like I asked but it didn’t do much good. Overall, the massage was below average. I didn’t feel completely relaxed afterwards. Not coming back here.

I recently went to Nu Age Med Spa to receive Pixel Skin Resurfacing. This was my first time receiving a cosmetic service of the laser nature. Needless to say I was a bit nervous. The staff were very warm and friendly, putting any fears I may have had at ease. The staff were very knowledgable about the procedure, informing me of everything I can expect from start to finish. They were very open and honest about how much pain I was about to experience and even provided anecdotal stories of their own. I can’t even describe how thankful I was for all of that! I’ve been to other medical spas and I think Nu Age Med Spa may just be my new favorite. I am a frequent Unilocal user but normally don’t write reviews. After reading all of the disparaging reviews about Nu Age Med Spa I felt compelled to provide my fellow Unilocalers with a different point of view based upon my experience. I plan on being a return customer to Nu Age Med Spa and would wholeheartedly recommend them!

I had microdermabrasion here, and it was a great experience. The people were friendly and helpful, and the girl who did my microdermabrasion was really good about explaining everything to me, which was nice since it was my first time. The ambiance is really nice, peaceful, and relaxing. The room I was in was extremely clean and uncluttered. The treatment was great. I will definitely go back.

If i could give this place NEGATIVE stars, I would!!! Like the other posts, I purchased a gropuon for 6 laser hair removal sessions. The first time I went, Gina was the one who did my laser. While she was nice, she spent the first several minutes telling me about how she only makes an hourly wage and how she should be making commission and bad mouthing her boss. I thought that was quite unprofessional, but whatever. The second time I went, Gina scolded me for not having shaved the little amount of hair I had, but she never told me to do that before I came in or I would have done so! When I had laser on my face at a doctor’s office years back, they shaved for me. Of course, I was paying significantly more and I never, ever, ever had any sort of an issue. Should have stuck to getting laser at a plastic surgeon’s office! On my third trip there, Gina BURNED me. I have scars to prove it. She gave me a cream that she told me not to tell her boss she was giving me since it was sooooo expensive. She gave it to me in a very small sample jar, maybe one tablespoon, so I think she was making me think she was doing me a huge favor. It was very painful for 3 days and when I called them, they did offer for me to see a doctor that is in the office next to them since that was their«protocol» when this happened. Hmmmm, so there is protocol, which means this must have happened before. Clearly, after reading the Unilocal reviews, it has happened one too many times. I went to my own doctors and they recommended that I not go back there When I called Nu Age to see what I could do to get a refund, the very nice receptionist told me I should get my refund from groupon. I told her I didnt expect the total amount back, just what was left over. She also told me that she would pass my number along to the owner to call me back. ITo date, the owner has never called me back. Now I work at a spa myself(we dont do hair removal) so I know how things should work. In our spa, if we have a problem, its immediately addressed by a manager. If there is any need for refunds, its is professionally handled. No wonder our spa has 4.5 stars on Unilocal

Well, I also had a bad experience at Nu Age Spa. I also bought a Group-On for a series of hair removal sessions I was going to use on my upper lip. I had had a couple of sessions elsewhere, so I knew what to expect. At any rate, I also was not offered a beverage or whatever snack was out, but I don’t care about that. I just helped myself. The reason for having had a bad experience at this place is that the aesthetician burned me. I remember the laser zap was quite hot and I remarked about it, but was assured this was normal. What happened, however, was that my skin on my upper lip has been permanently lightened. It’s been some time, but nothing covers it up — not make-up, not a spray tan, nothing. When I called to complain and express my fear of having another session, they called me in to see for themselves. I was planning to ask to have my Group-On cancelled. The aesthetician swore she didn’t see the lightening(like I must be crazy or something) and called in her boss for her opinion. The boss wouldn’t confirm or deny and just said I could call Group-On to get a refund, which I did. I don’t know that I’d trust the aesthetician with the laser. It can be very dangerous in the wrong hands.

Well, my friend and I were exciting to have our first Photofacial service at Nu Age Med Spa. However, when we arrived, the receptionist and aesthetician greeted us. There was no other customers at the spa and there were only one reception and one aesthetician there. We were asked to pay for the service before the treatment and that was fine. However, we were also asked by the aesthetician, who performed the laser on us, how much we would like to tip her??? It was so inappropriate indeed. I actually have regular facial services and no aesthetician ever asks me this question, especially before the treatment! We should not tip her. BUT, We did tip her well. The aesthetician did not explain anything about the procedure and went ahead to perform the Photofacial without cleaning my faces. I asked whether she must clean my face before the treatment and she said that it was unnecessary because I had no make-up on. What! When I was waiting for my friend, no one offered me anything to drink. Five minutes later, a lady customer walked in and was waiting for her service. A receptionist asked her if she wanted something to drink. Come On, people! He must have seen me sitting there. How could he overlook me? When we were done, no one asked us if we wanted to book for the next time or no one talked to us if we were done. There was no smile the whole time we were there. From what they treated us, we decided to go to the other med spas. Sorry! no more Nu Age Med Spa.

I was excited about my trip to Nu Age Med Spa. I purchased a package through Groupon for laser hair removal. I did tons of research on laser hair removal and decided to give a try. After driving 45 minutes from Chicago to the Riverwoods location and to my dismay I was immediately insulted. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful when I arrived asking me to complete the necessary paperwork before being greeted by the technician. Here is where the problem begins I was greeted by the woman telling me that I was TOO dark. I am a LIGHT skinned African American woman. She said the procedure wouldn’t work on me because I was too dark. Funny that I know many other women my complexion or darker who have used laser hair removal with no issue. I told the woman that I was NOT dark I was just not white. She told me that they do Asian, and Indian skin but she was afraid that I was too dark. I was then made a spectacle when she called another woman out who said she didn’t see a problem at all, but that wasn’t enough. She went and call her manager and told her that she had a dark African American woman there and what would she suggest? At this point, I asked for my money back and LEFT! So, note to African American women don’t go to HERE!
