We found this restaurant when we googled«restaurants near me» since we were in Roanoke for a bowling tournament and weren’t familiar with the area. My husband ordered the 2 lb Alaskan crab legs and was in heaven. He declared them as the best crab legs he has had. You have no idea what high praise that is because my hubby can be a real picky pain in the drain, if you know what I mean. I made my own combo with shrimp, scallops and clam strips and could not eat all of it, although I tried my best. Service was a bit slow at times, but she was working half a room by herself, it appeared. I’ve been there, done that, so gave her a pass. If we are ever in town again, we will for sure visit again.

One of the worst seafood meals I’ve had anywhere… Chef Mike(microwave) I suspect did most of the cooking. If u complain about your meal u get absolutely no response other than I’m sorry. I dropped $ 90 o n the meal and eat there fairly regularly so I expected a little more of a response than I’m sorry. Will not be going back!

Went to harbor inn seafood for february 14th2015 for valentines day. At about 8:30 pm. from the time we set down and got a glass of iced tea it took over 1 hour to get our food on the table. The food was cold and had less portions this is the worst experience I have ever had any restaurant.

Really good. It is my favorite seafood place in the area. It is a bit greasy, but the flavor of the food isn’t lost. Plus I love the clam strips !

Took my kids and grandson to Sunday lunch. We were all famished and we’re looking forward to a seafood feast! My son’s and my 2 yr old all ordered catfish. My wife ordered flounder and scallops. I, being a BIG eater wanted a bigger portion so I order a trio fried platter of Atlantic whitefish, cod, and crab cakes. The order arrived and the child’s portion catfish was big, the adult catfish orders were enormous. My wife’s double fried platter had 3 pieces of founder and about 20 scallops. I was thrilled. I knew my platter would be huge! My order arrived. 1 crab cake, 1 pc of cod, and 1 pc of whitefish. WHAT? REALLY? I called the waitress over and asked if there was a mistake. She said that when you order the triple combo they limit the portions! I was paying $ 2 more and receiving less! I asked her to take it back and bring me catfish! The waitress was apologetic and agreed the food policy was wrong. 25 minutes later after everyone was finished I received my catfish. Food great.. Policies stupid

The highlight of the meal is the portion size. They give you so much food that it is your own fault if you leave here hungry. The service is great too! The food is your average fried seafood. You can barely taste the seafood because of the batter. Last time we were here, my mom got the broiled scallops and they were actually tasty. If you are looking for melt in your mouth seafood this is not the place. If you are looking for a very large fried dinner, I suggest heading here right away.

1st time here so it’s merely«first impression». The service was quite friendly while not over the top and the prices were reasonable. I list them«average» because of the good & atmosphere. It felt like going to a grandparents restaurant, and the steak & shrimp consisted of robustly deep-fried jumbo shrimp and a heavily«marbled» cut of beef. Better than Long Johns but not equal to serious sit-down.

Service is always fast and friendly and the food is always great. Portion sizes are huge! I never leave there without taking leftovers with me! Prices are pretty good when you consider the amount of food you get. Great place for a family meal!

Horrible dinner. Food was cold and very greasy. Service was slow. Took an hour to get our food. Spoke to the manager and he was a real jerk about everything. Look elsewhere for seafood because Harbor Inn is terrible.

They have the best food and portions of any seafood restaurant outside Myrtle beach. I have never had any fried scallops or catfish that was as good as here. I drive 14 hours round trip from Cleveland just to eat here every few months. Very good hush puppies and they started serving Mountain dew, so who could ask for anything more!

Heavy fried fish. Tasteless cocktail sauce with overcooked shrimp cocktail. Industrial wine. Sold out of my first two beer selections. Very cheap. Seems clean. Cheerful, fast service.

Big, fried, and fabulous(price)… that is the Harbor Inn. I usually have a craving for a Long John Silver type meal when I’m back in the area and when that happens, Harbor Inn’s fried seafood platter does the trick. The seafood isn’t the freshest for it to be prepared any other way but fried(their produce is frozen I believe) but the sheer size of the plate is something to behold, especially for the price. Add my gluttony plus cravings, every crispy bit of the plate is simply fried deliciousness. This coupled with good southern hospitality and a kick-ass sweet tea make Harbor Inn a popular local spot for fried seafood.

Another funny story about Harbor Inn. I took an elderly parent there for seafood. The portions are so huge I asked the waitress if my Mom could have the kids plate. She told me «You must have a Dr. s note». I thought that was so crazy and insulting I never returned. This place is very popular though with the locals.

Harbor Inn has the BEST Calabash style seafood in the Roanoke area! My favorite thing to get growing up was their platter of flounder, shrimp, crab cakes, hush puppies, fries and a side salad. Seriously… It’s enough food for 3 – 4 meals or to share between a few different people. In all the years I ate there I never saw anyone finish that entrée in one sitting! The service is fast and friendly — just what Southern hospitality is all about. Most of the servers are high school students who attend the nearby Northside High(where I went!!). The atmosphere is bright and cheery with traditional, cliché«sea» décor hung on the walls like fishing nets, sea shells… etc. Also — when you walk in, the first thing you see is a huge mural! The restaurant is filled with young families, seniors and teenagers on dates — it’s full of laughter and has an incredibly relaxed vibe. I made so many good memories here over the years! Highly recommended if you are in the area.
