After 1 hour visiting and waiting for our food and looking around and seeing that everyone around us who had arrived after us was eating, a server asked what we had ordered and said he would go check in the kitchen. Our waitress seemed surprised that we had not gotten our dinner yet. My Times Square strip sat under the warmer for 1 ½ hours while the kitchen finally cooked my dinner companions hamburger, which came out medium rare; he ordered medium. My medium rare strip was nearly well done, my asparagus was brown. Everything was so salty, but I ate it anyway because it was 1 ½ hours later and I was starving. Our waitress gave a us a free dessert for our tremendous wait for overcooked and salty dinner for $ 74.

5 steaks all incorrectly prepared, twice. Cold potatoes and sides that had been pre-prepared and warmed under a warming light. Only three other tables in the restaurant and it took 45 minutes for the first round of steaks. Cuts of meat were not acceptable for a «high end» steakhouse.

It’s my first time here. A great restaurant(supposedly by a renowned coach) but spotty service. The waiters were so confused amongst themselves. In the end we had to ask multiple times for a menu, water, and so on. But overall the food was good.

Great waitress! The food was acceptable, but for the prices I expected better. My burger had good flavor. My vegetables were cooked well but not seasoned well. The biggest blow to the score was … ONEHOUR! to receive our food –and no, they were not busy.

My husband and I stayed the night at the Sheraton for a concert last evening at the Berglund center, so I made reservations for Shula’s. I loved the atmosphere, our hostess and most especially our waiter Barry who was very accommodating and a joy to be around. The food was absolutely delish! My husband had the filet mignon which was perfect! I had the pan seared sea scallops which were perfectly cooked, the sauce was amazing! I would have to say the risotto though a wonderful flavor was overcooked and mushy but overall the food was fantastic. For dessert my husband had key lime pie and I had the crème brûlée. Both were top notch delish!!! We will definitely be back on our return trips to Roanoke.

Do not bother making reservations. They take reservations online, but will not honor them if they get busy. They do not get the reservation concept. I wish I could have reviewed the food because other Shula locations have always been enjoyable.

I ordered the Asian salad with seared ahi tuna. It was one of the best salads I have ever had. Vegetables were crisp and fresh, tuna was perfect, and the dressing was delicious. The salad was huge and I thought I’ll never eat all of this but it was sooo good there was nothing left on my plate!!! Service was slow and inattentive considering there were only 3 other occupied tables while I was there.

I only gave it 4 stars as it doesn’t rank up there with Frankie Rowlands as best steakhouse in Roanoke. However, the pricing is cheaper than Frankie’s as well(you actually don’t have to pay extra for sides like at Frankie’s). When it comes down to it I recommend both highly though. Not just for hotel guests — don’t shy away because connected to hotel.

Probably would not have gone if it wasn’t connected to my hotel and I’m glad I did! Sat at the bar both night and received excellent service great food! In the mood for some quick bites I ordered 2 appetizers. The ahi and the crab cakes! The ahi was cooked perfect and the wasabi sauce was so good. Crab cakes with no filler… awesome! The sauce… not so much. It looked promising but then tasted more like a tarter sauce with too much relish. Very pleased overall!

Absolutely pretty good. I would give it 4 stars, but the steak was good — just not $ 34 good. And I wish they had more craft beers on tap.

I have gone here in the past because it was attached to the hotel, the ratings led me to believe it would be great, but it really was a great mis-steak. The service is very hit or miss, but when it is bad, it is really bad. Slow enough to be raising the cows from birth to get the meal, not custom cooked leasurely for each dinner. The steaks are good, but at those prices they should blow you away, and they just don’t. I learned a $ 7 cab ride will get you a far better steak and will still cost less. Beer is over priced as well. It just seems what we have here is a place betting on the expense account folks staying in the hotel will just not care. Chicago prices in one of the lower cost areas of the county. In addition, if you happen o be an SPG Starwood member(it is attached to a Sheraton) don’t even think of getting the discount or points despite being prominently listed in the SPG restaurant list. It is not going to happen, the manage both times said they have nothing to do with it. Hello!, then pull your listing. Felt like false advertising, but why care if I am not going back. Not a 1 star, no rats or falling ceiling, and the steak is better than Applebees… If you are reading this, you already know how to find a nearby place with great food and service in 5 «STAR» City.

Had dinner here twice while on a business trip in Va. Both times the service was very good and the supervisor on duty worked very hard to make sure we were taken care of. Her and her staffs hard worked was noticed by all of my associates. Great job! The food was prompt and tasted delicious, would definitely recommend this place The only knock on this place would be they closed at 11pm.

Ugh, this place was in my hotel and I was Soooo excited. The first couple nights it was wonderful great burgers, great beer. My last night I decided to go for the steak. Big mistake! I sent it back the first time, I hate doing that; the second one was nearly as bad. I left with just a beer tab. I would NOT recommend this place for their steak, but considering they are a steak house, this is a MAJOR fail. Plenty happy with the burgers fries and beer. Re-label yourselves as a brew pub or bar and Grill and this rating doubles. Know what I mean?

Honesty would be 5 stars if service wasn’t so bad. Food was excellent. Started with calamari fries. Delicious. Husband And I had the filet. Also delicious. Loved my loaded baked potato, Vegetable and husbands sweet potato fries. Daughter had the Shula BBQ burger — delicious. Smashed potatoes were dry. Wouldn’t recommend them. Desert was good too. Now to the service. Terrible. Never refilled our drinks. Was less then attentive. He never followed through with anything he said he would do. We saw him just walking around restaurant and smelled like smoke most of the time. Nice guy but terrible server. Next time we go we will eat at the bar. Bartender was amazing.

I busted my ass at work all week and was looking for a rewarding meal. I had good experiences at other Shula’s Steakhouses in Naples and in Tampa before and was expecting the same tonight, but I was disappointed. I had 12oz ribeye Shula’s cut, medium rare. The meat didn’t have much flavor to it, it’s neither tender or fresh. It definitely was not worth $ 34. The mash potatoes were served cold and I was not impressed with the grilled asparagus. I don’t think I will be a regular here. :-(

Arrived 7pm. Had beer and wine with appetizer. After 2hours, waiter came and asked how’s everything. We said were still waiting for what we ordered, Entrees. Then he offered some bread. After 2 hours. Still waiting for NY strip we ordered 2hours before.

Arguably, one of the better restaurants in Roanoke. It is really all about the steak here. I went with a Cowboy steak that was cooked to medium rare perfection. Sure it is a little expensive, but when you consider that it is a great steak, the price of $ 30 doesn’t really seem that bad Try the Shula steak sauce for a real taste treat. I’m not usually a fan of steak sauce but this version was a touchdown all the way.

3* for food, 5* for service. And because I can’t eat service for my first meal all day at 6pm means 3.5* Prices are really reasonable. I ordered food to go at the bar and the bartender definitely made sure to take care of me and was really nice, making some suggestions based on what I might like. He made sure I had a glass of water even if I didn’t want a drink while I wanted and was kept occupied while waiting for my food to be prepared. After it came out, he made sure to check the other gentleman had given me utensils. This guy was seriously the best! On the food… I had ordered a seared tuna(rare). The rice and veggies were so tasty, even though they almost reminded me of the Healthy Choice frozen Asian meals(the taste, not the freshness. These were fresh!). The tuna didn’t have much of a ‘sear’ or char to the outside, which is fine but it was served as a large tuna steak and tasted really fishy. It didn’t come apart with fork/knife very easily at all. I had also gotten a short rib grilled cheese with seasonal vegetables to bring to lunch the next day. Awesome bartender recommended this as something that would travel/keep well. It was delicious and not overly truffled. The vegetables were also fresh, delicious, and flavorful, not just bland steamed veggies.
