Beautiful layout, convenient location, OK food Recommended. We love the Longhorn Chain. Whenever we’re back in the ‘States, we always stop to eat. This is easy to do because chain restaurants seem to be in in most major cities on the east coast and across the south. The layout and decorations are vintage Longhorn here. Very well done. Having said that, we were a party of three for dinner. Our entrees were OK but not the usual 4 – 5 star experience we’ve come to expect at Longhorns. All in our party ordered salads — they were tasteless — truly tasteless. Our meat-based dishes were OK but not tasty. Partly, this is a management oversight problem locally, assuming this place buys any foodstuffs for their entrees locally. Largely, it’s a problem US wide. It’s quite difficult to get servings of fresh food in most US restaurants anymore. The agricultural sector in the US is based on mass production of all foods including hormone-based meats. We just returned to the ‘States from abroad where we were served fresh foodstuffs daily at restaurants. We notice the difference immediately every time we eat at U.S. restaurants. It’s just so obvious to us and we suspect, others who spend significant periods in other countries outside the U.S.

Took my wife here for her birthday tonight and it was excellent. It was 9 of us and we have all worked in restaurants growing up and some still manage restaurants and our service was top notch. Ryan was our server and he was the best we have ever had. Food was cooked perfect and came out of the kitchen quick

Had a typical dinner here the other night great Chicken and beef steak salad. Tasty food and good service. A safe bet for dinner while on the road.

Bad service, food is decent. It’s as if the service personnel is on «as the world turns» and forget the customers. I will never return.

This had become one of my favorite restaurants in Roanoke up until my last couple visits. I normally would have given it 4 stars but unfortunately will have to downgrade it to 3. A highlight of every visit is the Wild West Shrimp appetizer. They’re fried very well and have a citrus and spice to them at once. They come with assorted peppers that accent the shrimp very well. I got the 8 oz flat iron steak my last visit and although it was very well cooked, it was under seasoned. I appreciate how juicy the meat was, but it just tasted like a slab of beef that had been put over the grill. However, the mashed potatoes helped to enhance the flavor when eating with the steak. What I was most disappointed about was the Blueberry Lemon butter cake. When it reached our table it was barely warm and seemed like it had been over cooked. Also, there was too much lemon icing/custard on top of the cake and it overpowered what was below it. On the bright side, the service was prompt and friendly! I’m sure I’ll be back with my family at some point and I hope it improves!

Loved the ribeye steak! My husband had the hamburger, and it was big. Both full of flavor. The only thing I didn’t like was the bathroom, real dirty. If you love steak, you cannot go wrong eating here.

Had our first visit tonight and there were highs and there were lows. First at 5:00 they had a 15 minutes wait we were pretty hungry so we were game to sit at the bar. A couple was at one end and a man was 2 seats away. The rest of the entire bar was completely covered w plates, napkins, glasses and menus. Literally the only 2 clean spots were in between the only customers there. So going back to do the wait for the table and when we finally got our table I checked the bar and it was still completely covered in junk. Even the lone customer left and that spot was filthy. With that being said I noticed the wait staff was top notch. Our server was multi tasking like no ones business. The crab dip app looked like slop and we only got to eat half cause it only came w a small amount of bread. The prime rib was amazing.

Service was very poor. We sat for ten minutes before being served a drink. Food was fair. Not impressed. Will not be going back.

I am writing this from the bar as I check out with bartender Joel V. Ordered happy hour $ 4 martini — was told no blue cheese olives — but it was un-drinkable; way too much olive juice. Ordered a replacement Cabernet; was delivered a White wine filled to the brim to «make up for the martini. Then Joel took back the white wine and delivered a half-filled Cab. Meal came — never offered bread or salt and pepper. Never saw him again the entire meal. The kicker was he charged me $ 6.90 for the happy hour martini because he said I ordered Bombay Saphire instead of Bombay. Then, girls next to me got a martini with the blue cheese olives(guess the truck just came in at 6:30 pm). I sat at the bar with an employee eating and with all of the waitresses coming up to him — feel sorry for their tables. I travel a lot and usually love LongHorn, but not this location. Last visit here Update — I have been to at least a dozen different Longhorns across the US since this and all have been much better — some even outstanding.

Stopped in here for New Year’s eve dinner. Atmosphere: this is a very large restaurant with loads of varying sized tables for all sorts of groups. It is designed to evoke a western feel and does quite a nice job of it. The waiting area is not overly large, but sufficiently large enough for a non-holiday experience. There is a bar along the left wall with the main dining areas immediately in front of the main door, extending far to the right. There are plenty of short wall dividers between the areas to help reduce the noise levels, which were definitely tolerable. Staff: our waitress was absolutely wonderful! She was polite, attentive, and personable. She ensured we had everything we needed and made sure to fill up our glasses before they emptied. I was tempted to drop one star because my girlfriend’s drink was empty for a while because it took so long to get from the bar. This might have been due to the night we ate, but with all the other great things about this place, I expected speed of bar drinks to be great as well. However, the overall experience, excepting that was exceptional. Food: absolutely great! We started off with the calamari… it was perfectly cooked and just the right portion to not fill us up, but not too small to wonder where the appetizer had gone. The salads were both fresh and wonderfully prepared! The bread was definitely fresh from the oven and irresistible! Our main courses(ribeye and sweet potatoes) were perfectly cooked, deliciously seasoned, and amazing! This is a fantastic restaurant and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to eat well while in the area. We will return should we be back in this area.

Apple Cider Baby Back Ribs, Outlaw Ribeye, Longhorn Salmon… all 5-star. Service is attentive and the atmosphere is a kick. I travel here frequently and always eat at Longhorn. I have yet to be disappointed! The bar drinks are really good too — try the Perfect Margarita with just a splash of the sour mix. And the housemade steakhouse is simply divine!

My husband and I have had many great meals at Longhorn. He always gets a perfectly cooked prime rib, and I typically order one of the other delicious steaks. Recently, though, I wasn’t as hungry as usual, so I ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer(which was really good) and the grilled watermelon salad. My review is specifically about that salad, which is seasonal, and will hopefully go away soon, never to be seen again. Good grief, what a horror. All I know is I like salad, I like watermelon, I like grilled food, I like feta cheese, and I like balsamic dressing. However, I never imagined that the combination of all these things could be so foul. There were big dollops of straight balsamic vinegar, which totally overpowered everything. But the really bad part was the watermelon. Aside from the fact that it was topped with the aforementioned vinegar(and it turns out that is NOT a good combination!), it seemed to have been grilled earlier in the day, then chilled to a very cold temp before being served. It made no sense in my mouth. Chargrilled + freezing cold = weird. Chargrilled + freezing cold + balsamic sourness = WTH?!

I came here with a party of 6 and we were all disappointed. The food was okay. We got parmesan crusted asparagus for an appetizer which was very yummy. But the appetizers came out while we were eating salads? It was also evident that they were extremely short staffed or just had very poorly trained servers. The server was not very friendly for starters. We could hardly get refills, and on multiple occasions the waitress came by and saw empty glasses but we had to beg the manager before we got more drinks. We also stared at empty plates for the majority of the night, and it took forever to get our food. While the service was terrible, I am giving this 2 stars because the food was good. Although the server seemed tired and indifferent, the friendly manager made up for the servers mistakes and also comped our overcooked steak.

I’ve eaten here every other month or so since it opened. It’s not the cheapest and it’s nothing amazing but it’s consistently good. Service is no better than any chain steakhouse(Outback, Logan’s, Saltgrass, Texas Roadhouse) but the menu offerings are a bit more enjoyable.

I’m going to go with 3 stars for this experience. The décor alone… I mean… WHOATHERECOWBOY! I’ve been to Texas and many many states out west and I don’t think that in all of those places combine that there is that much cow hide, cowboy stuff, and horns than there is at this joint. I mean Walk Texas Ranger threw up and there was Longhorn Steakhouse décor. The waitress was very nice but had a habit of serving and dashing and we wouldn’t see her again until she suddenly reappeared. I can’t say that this place is priced fairly. I find it to be a bit high given the entire experience with the food. I ordered the cheese fries, the steak with the egg, and the mac and cheese. Now if any of you know me or have read any of my reviews… I love my mac and cheese and if the M&C is bad… more than likely everything will follow suit. This M&C was epic. I was very impressed. Overall it was just okay. I would go back to try it again.

It’s a chain, so I’m grading on a curve. If this were a Mom ‘n’ Pop, it wouldn’t score this high. The difference is emotional investment. A chain lacks that. Individuals may take pride in their jobs, but for the most part, no one has any real skin in the game except for the company who owns that franchise. And if it doesn’t succeed, they can just shut it down and open a few more Subways to make up for the revenue. I went on a Thursday night because I was craving a steak and baked potato, and because I’d never been there before. The restaurant itself was attractive and well-maintained. I was seated quickly and attended to by a very professional and competent waitress in no time at all. The service was thorough, without being intrusive. Though, in fairness, it was a slow night and they didn’t have much else to do. I started with a bowl of their French onion soup. It was an ample portion, and was exceptionally tasty. I have no illusions that it was made on premises, but it was still decent. B+ on the soup. I had the Caesar salad next. It was okay, but just okay. The lettuce was cut in unmanageably large pieces. They skimped on the dressing, but the croutons were light and tasty. C– on the salad. I had the Outlaw Ribeye, which is a bone-in cut served with their«loaded» baked potato(loaded with some butter, sour cream, a tinch of cheese and some salad-bar bacon bits). The potato was a disappointment, dry and lacking. The steak was tasty, and cooked almost to order(it was closer to medium than medium rare, but I don’t expect much better from a chain). I usually avoid ordering a steak Pittsburgh rare in a chain, because they usually have no idea what that means. And I know that ordering a steak rare usually results in medium rare. That’s just the way of the world, though. The potato was a D, the steak was a C+. For what it was, it wasn’t a horrible meal. But it certainly wasn’t worth the price paid. To be fair, though, they are not set-up to serve those with discerning tastes. Longhorn exists to overcook moderately acceptable cuts of meat for people who don’t know any better. The type of person who thinks Olive Garden is a real Italian restaurant will certainly believe Longhorn is a real steakhouse. If you like your steaks well done with plenty of stuff piled on it, then you’ll enjoy Longhorn for a special night out. That said. I like Olive Garden, even if it isn’t «authentic.» And I generally don’t have too much of a problem with chain restaurants on the whole. But I do think that a chain should pay at least as much attention to the food as they do the«atmosphere.»

Longhorn Smoke and Mirrors House I ordered a bowl of chili again. Damn, it’s good; probably the best I’ve ever had… but dining is supposed to be an experience, right? I left angry. I expected that large bowl of chili I had received during my lunch in September, but what arrived was this dinky… thing. I said, «Excuse me. I ordered a bowl not a cup.» The waitress said it was a bowl, so I asked her to bring me a cup. She did. Guess what? I spooned the entire contents of the«bowl» into the cup. The excellent waitress, Meghan, sensed my consternation and sent over the manager who tried to explain Longhorn’s reasoning. The end result of the conversation was that I was that I had to tell the manager I was not here to benefit Longhorn rather myself. It’s one of those basic things, you know? The manager told me the dinky bowl held two more ounces than the cup, meaning each ounce cost me $ 1 extra!!! I’m not one of those persons who complains about being ripped off, but this was a rip-off. It insulted my intelligence, offended me. It ruined my dining experience although the manager rang it up as a lunch and saved me 50-cents. Isn’t hot food supposed to be hot? I mean they don’t advertise warm french fries and tepid chili, do they? Oh, and the salad – the strawberry pecan salad is excellent – was smeared around on a large plate to make it look like it was more than it really was. And that great meal we had in September for $ 20 cost us $ 26 this time… and for smaller portions. It’s a shame because I love their food, but I’m not going back and reward them for this. I think someone with a Harvard MBA is now in charge. My advice to them: Offer either the bowl or the cup not both. That way you won’t get caught.
