Howard Johnson Inn Roanoke/Airport

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. I walked in to inquire about a room. The entrance was extremely dirty and smelled like cigarettes smoke. The employee at the counter didn’t even greet me after making me wait for almost 10 mins. I went in to inquire about a room. I asked to see the amenities and he said no and only allowed employees. That was extremely rude.
Do not come here. There’s only bad service and unsanitary place.

Learned an import lesson… read the reviews first. Nice and cheap, but I wouldn’t take a shower or walk in the room without shoes. Breakfast sucks too.

We sure wish we had checked Unilocal first before booking. We booked through
, which showed nicely taken photos of a nice Howard Johnson. But after we get there and checked in. We went to our room and were greeted by a half dozen or more of Stink Bugs! Also very dark (should have been white) filthy towels looked like they had never been washed. Burnt holes on the bedding and curtains, Dirty and grungy bathroom. We found a new place and left, but not with out demanding a refund. We later contacted our credit card for a complete refund.

Admittedly I had no plans on staying there, we were heading home from vacation, but we had a 4 year old with an obvious potty emergency brewing and the manager told me flat out I could not use the bathroom. Now I would understand if it was an adult but my daughter was literally doing the potty damce in front of him. Horrible way to represent your establishment. Thankfully the Waffle House (#2091) next door was more than accommodating and the waitress instantly saw what was going on and pointed me in the right direction.

Wish I read the reviews first. 2.5 stars only because service was decent and there was free wifi. Place was very outdated and run down. I waited 5 minutes for someone to arrive at the front desk but I had to choice because we had been driving for over 10 hours from Toronto and we’re all too exhausted to look any further for another hotel. Free breakfast included three trays of food that they probably bought from a store nearby (muffins, bread, donuts), there was also cereal and very watered down coffee. Would not recommend to anyone, even for $ 57 a night after tax I still would not come back.

I just checked in about an hour ago and this is not what I remember Howard Johnson hotels to be. This place stinks and the décor is out dated. I’m only here cause my truck broke down and I needed a hotel for the night. If my truck is still down tomorrow I’m checkin out and trying the Quality Inn up the street. This place is most definitely horrible. Next time i’ll look for reviews before I chose a place to stay. I only gave this place one star cause I didn’t see an option for zero stars… UPDATE: When I checked out the front desk asked me how my stay was and I told him. I told him I was uncomfortable staying in the room and I got a reservation at the Quality Inn. He tried to show me another room but that room just left a bad taste in my mouth. Nice people and they were trying to make things right but that room was just way too shitty.

Avoid this Hotel. Very old and run down. Entrance door has gaps. Inside furniture is dirty bathroom is outdated.
