On my last couple visits, I have discovered the New York Subs version of the Gyro. Instead of having a traditional sub, this Greek sandwich is served on a pita and comes with lamb, lettuce, tomato, cheese and tzatziki. Everything is cooked to order and the grilled pita and slices of lamb are delicious. The tenderness and spices in the lamb really come through with the other ingredients, particularly the creamy tzatziki sauce. To go along with the sandwiches and wraps, New York Subs serves freshly cooked French fries. This heaping amount of fries, which is also made to order, is tossed in salt and pepper and other seasonings that I believe includes crack-cocaine because these things are quite addictive. The portion sizes of the gyro and fries are more than generous and this could probably serve as your only meal for the day. And the Gyro combo, which includes the gyro, fries, and drink, costs about $ 9.00.

These hicks dont know what a New York Sub is. I ordered an italian sub. –roll was«ok» –the deli meats were bland but they did give you a good amount –They put«store brand kraft» italian dressing on it? why not just oil and vinegar like it should be? –it needed salt pepper and oregano to even come close to a «NY sub». I would not some back. These reviewers below dont know what they are talking about. They prob eat subway everyday.

Great counter service and the subs are yummy! The veggie sub — grilled peppers, onions, cheese with lettuce and tomato is not as greasy as some I’ve had. My husband loves the ham and cheese sub.

This has got to be the best place to get a steak and cheese sandwich in Roanoke, hands down. Conveniently located in the market food court downtown, its always the place for me if I want a sandwich. The meat is so tender and the cheese is so good and peppers and the mushrooms and the… geez laweez, I think I need one right now! It’ll run you about 7 or 8 bucks for a footlong with a drink and its so worth it. The lines are sometimes pretty big around rush hour for lunch downtown so I suggest either going early or holding out for a bit if you want to bite into a piece of cheese steak heaven.
