My wife and I are phở-natics and have tried all of the phở restaurants in Roanoke. This one is the very best, most consistent, clean, and friendly one. We recommend the #5 phở. Don’t confuse this one with the other restaurants with similar names. This is the one in the Goodwill shopping center. We love it!

Great place! Haven’t had Phở to many places but this is the best I’ve had. It’s always clean and the staff is very nice and willing to answer any questions.

Very disappointing. They have changed the broth. It was yellowish, especially around the edge, which suggests it was cut with chicken broth. Nor did it have the taste and smell of star anise, an essential Phở ingredient. The soup does not taste like Phở. I have visited this restaurant since it first opened. Apparently the restaurant is now under new(non-Vietnamese) management. I won’t be going back.

Not a phở aficionado or anything, but I’m definitely a fan. They’re good about packaging everything up to make it just how you like it when you get it to go(which I usually do). The spring rolls with peanut sauce are a delicious add-on.

I was going to try out this restaurant, but after reading the 11÷4÷20152÷15÷16 posts about the cockroaches scurrying under the table, coming out from under the plate and even in the phở, I think not. Ummm … was the board of health called by either customer? And if not, why not? In most other cities, the restaurant would be closed down, at least temporarily. This is unbelievably disgusting– I am just amazed a) that people have actually eaten at this restaurant knowing there are cockroaches, 2) the Board of Health wasn’t informed and 3) They weren’t temporarily closed. I just moved to Roanoke and most of the restaurants I’ve gone to have had very bad food along with really bad service — as in, one woman served me whilst talking to a friend on the phone. Now, after reading the cockroach reviews, I’m afraid to eat out anywhere in Roanoke. This is just so disgusting.

Beware!!! I can honestly say that I loved this place because everything seemed fresh and the egg rolls and spring rolls are fabulous. However the last visit I had a cockroach in my Phở! It completely ruined my experience! The server also informed that had been having problems with cockroaches for a while and had recently bombed the restaurant so please check your food before eating it!!!

This is my FAVORITE restaurant! Phở is my all time favorite food and Phở Saigon serves the best phở I’ve ever had. I’ve been to many Vietnamese restaurants in the northeast where they tend to add too much MSG, but the broth here is perfect– sweet and flavorful, served with fresh bean sprouts and basil. I’ve brought many of my friends here who have fallen in love with phở as well. The restaurant is clean and the staff are very attentive and friendly. It is a bit of a drive from where I live but it’s always worth it. Highly recommend Phở Saigon, you won’t be disappointed!

I came for the Phở on a cold, rainy night and was not disappointed. I came home with piping hot soup, lots of beautiful, fresh veggies and meat to be cooked in the broth. If the broth were more flavorful/less bland it would have been the best phở EVER. It came close, but not quite(even with the hoisin and sriracha it still needed more broth essence/salt/herbs/ginger whatever.) We also ordered an onion/egg pancake with fish sauce which knocked my socks off. And the spring rolls with peanut sauce were fresh and a a flavor explosion in my mouth. The place is a zero on atmosphere but the staff is friendly. I usually take out and enjoy the soup in the comfort of my own home.

Solid Phở. Broth was a bit sweet but it wasn’t overwhelming and I basically ate the whole bowl. Worth my money!

I used to love this place! Before it was such a clean place with a large bowl of phở. Now they give you less meat and less noodles which is ok when it was such a clean place. But my last visit about 2 weeks ago was horrifyiing and so disapointting. I ignored the roach that ran from the table to under the table but when they brought out the bean sprout platter, as i was grabbing the bean sprouts a roach crawled out of the plate! I about vomited right then. Told our server, my friend and i just left because i dont know about my friend but i completely lost my appetite. Again i used to love this place and might give it another try once they get rid of the roach problem PLEASE.

I try to stick with the Phở the last two visit, the subs could use improvement. Actually I found it almost inedible. The garden spring rolls were filled with shrimp and I think it was chicken or just plain shrimp. It wasn’t bad at all, anyhow I repeat stick with the phở.

Food is okay, kinda sweet. A little pricy compared to other phở restaurants I went before.

This is place is SOGOOD. The vegetarian spring rolls were delicious and very fresh(the noodles and tofu were still slightly warm so you could tell they had just been made). My mom got the phở and said it was very tasty. She doesn’t usually eat a lot, but she downed the whole bowl with impressive speed, and this is after two spring rolls! I got the vegetarian stir fry with tofu and couldn’t shut up about how delicious it was the whole meal. My face never got more than two inches from my plate as I practically tried to bury myself in noodle-y, tofu-y goodness. The sauce was light but flavorful, the tofu wasn’t too greasy, the veggies were fresh, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. I can’t wait to go here again as soon as possible!

Foods are too sweet for my taste! Vietnamese Sandwich is a bit expensive than Viet Sub. I get 6 sandwiches for $ 22 at Viet Sub. Here is $ 5.00 each.

The Phở here has gone downhill. I use to come here a lot but this time several meats were missing from the Phở Saigon and the beef was completely cooked which is not how it should arrive to the table. I was so disappointed. In addition to missing items, the amount of noodles has decreased a little. Overall a poor experience, I’ll have to start going to Phở Vietnam.

Personally, I think this place is a better deal than Phở Viet Nam(fellow competitor) and have more variety. If we are strictly talking about phở, I think Phở Viet Nam is more authentic but Phở Saigon gives you more food. Both spots are decent, depends on what you want. The soup base at Phở Saigon was a little sweeter than what I’m used to, but it wasn’t bad just different(we got #11). I also tried their boba drinks. They only serve slushies! If you’re looking for milk tea or the smoothie consistency, you’re not going to get it here. Overall, I have visited this place twice and will probably go there again given the limited options of vietnamese food in the area.

Came here based only upon Unilocal recommendations! The first impression was very very good! The Vietnamese staff seemed very genuine, friendly & attentive! Noticed the wait staff cleaning the tables with sanitizing spray which is a huge plus in my books! The vegetarian tofu spring rolls with peanut sauce was excellent! The Thai tea was certainly superior than what I tasted!!! I ordered Spicy Noodle Soup… Bun Bo Hue which was superb & filling! I highly recommend this place! We hope to be back again when we are in Roanoke! Met one I the friendly co-owners, LeAnn as well!!!

So we are Phở afficianados and struggled between deciding on Phở Saigon and Phở Vietnam. Read the reviews and finally pulled the trigger on Saigon. We went on a Saturday and it was just us and a Vietnamese family(always a good sign). The restaurant was very clean and the server greeted and seated us quickly. Phở was good, not the best, but then again we weren’t expecting the best in Roanoke. Basil and veg very fresh and the small had a generous amount of meat. All in all a good experience. Next time we’re in town, we will certainly go again.

Quick service, big bowls of phở, fresh spring rolls and the right price, on any budget, makes Phở Saigon a great stop for Vietnamese food. It isn’t a difficult formula and having fresh bean sprouts, basil and lime is much appreciated. I made the good decision to stop here for lunch after a February race with Mountain Junkies and it filled me right up! I suppose that a good Vietnamese restaurant is in many ways the marker that a metro area has arrived, as most cities will start out with various Chinese options and even some good sushi, but finding good phở is a real treat. I haven’t been to the other option in town yet, but Phở Saigon gets two thumbs up! Would be a staple for a casual date, family meal out or even dining alone.
