A great lunch on slow day. 3 of us dropped in for a good meal. Between us we had the«Nachos, New Orleans» followed with Shrimp & Grits, Jumbulia, Red Beans with Chicken & Rice and a bowl of Gumbo. The first 3 scored a WOW followed by a 2VERYGOOD’s. A extra 2 thumbs up for the Gluten Free options. Many items on the menu are marked with a ‘G’ for Gluten Free. Our meal, except for the Gumbo was all Gluten Free. I guess I should also mention that the service was very good and the price was very reasonable. I do look forward to another visit the next time I’m in town.

I came here on a weekday night to meet some friends for dinner. I am a fan. I got the Pimento Bacon Burger and Fries. It was pretty good. I know most people will come here for cajun food, and I’ve heard good things. But give the burger a try. It’s on of the best I’ve had in Roanoke in a while. And my wife really enjoyed their jazz Christmas music.

This is my husband and I’s favorite restaurant in Roanoke! We live out of state with family in town, so every time we come to visit we make it a point to eat here. I’m crazy for Cajun/Creole food, he loves seafood, and this is the real thing. I almost always order red beans and rice simply because it is my favorite warm comfort food. My husband will try something new each time and has never been disappointed! We actually hired the restaurant to cater for our wedding just a few months ago because we felt they were the best the city had to offer. All of our guests were raving about the food, Cajun and American alike! We had it all from crawfish to fettuccine Alfredo to chicken tenders so that everyone could enjoy the cuisine they liked, and it was all fresh and cooked perfectly. Thanks The Quarter for making our wedding day that much more remarkable!

I almost didn’t try this place due to the reviews on the food. We went anyway service was great, décor was cool, and all 4 of us really enjoyed our meals. Portions were generous and presentation was nice. We aren’t foodies but we were all impressed. We will go back for more.

Fried chicken was hot, great crunch and flavor. The sides were made well and we had good service. You have to try their fried chicken though. Im not even a fried chicken kinda girl for a nice dinner and its excellent here. They also have a nice outdoor area that has a nice ambiance including trees.

Came here as part of work meeting, the ambiance is very nice probably the best in Roanoke. Lots of seating available they also have upstairs for private parties. The servers are awesome the best service I’ve had in a while. Always refilling water and honest suggestions with the menu I got the black salmon, it was probably some of the best fish I’ve had. Literally melts in your mouth and the seasoning was perfect served with sweet potatoes which I think were a bit too sweet. Definitely recommended. The chipotle shrimp pasta was probably the bomb if I am here again without a doubt my favorite dish! Other recs are the chicken burger which I unfortunately didn’t get but hear it’s mouthwatering. The staff were very kind to reservation a bar section for us during the game which was very nice of them. Don’t get bars making those kinds of accommodations. Overall highly recommend this place if in the area.

My family wanted to dine here so I was along for the ride. Not many vegetarian options and the server acted a little smart about it when I said I was vegetarian, not sure if she was joking around or being serious. My family all ordered meat dishes that they said were ok enough. The beans and rice that I ordered was barely warm, it seemed like an afterthought.

Dined here for a business dinner. Had the fried boneless chicken and it was awesome. seasoned and cooked to perfection and very decent portion. Also had the bourbon vanilla bread pudding and this was also just as good. I would highly recommend eating here.

I recently dined here for lunch. The atmosphere was fantastic. The servers were eager to greet me. My server Will was very knowledgeable on the menu and the daily specials. I had an All American burger and added some extra items. My burger came out fantastic as does all my. other times eating here. I’ve also eaten the Prime Rib for dinner before and it is hands down the best steak I’ve ever eaten. don’t hesitate to eat at this location.

I normally never write negative reviews. As an executive chef from NYC with server experience I can be quite the critic but I keep my comments to myself. But this kitchen is truly struggling with the quality of their food and I hope management will take this review constructively and turn things around. I have eaten here while in town almost three years ago and our experience was great. This time not so much… Saturday(5−2−15) we came for my sister’s graduation dinner. When arriving the hostess seemed confused changing server rotation counts, and was so focused she did not give us the friendly greeting you normally expect. After waiting a minute or so without the hostess’s recognition the server standing next to her greeted us as she still had her head down(a sour note to start). We were seated, greeted by our server, received drinks, and ordered apps. When our server brought our share plates they were very dirty with food particles in between. We got new plates and our apps arrived: Good: Fried crawfish tails — good nice spice Crawfish fritter — good seasoning. Basically crawfish risotto balls(arancini). Tasty Ok: Fried green tomatoes — tomatoes with bbq sauce were ok. The breading was weak but acceptable. The grits were cement-like, under seasoned, and were dry needing to be loosened with some liquid or butter. Bad: Oysters Rockefeller — different execution than expected. The topping did not have any breeding or crispy element. It was topped with spinach and some type of garlic compound butter(under seasoned) and barley cooked. Not a fan. Beans and rice(vegetarian) — under soup section but was not a soup in any way. A bowl of rice and beans. The beans had a burnt flavor and tasted like the bottom of the pot burned and it was served anyway. This was comped by our server and replaced by some delicious mashed potatoes. We finished our apps, drinks were refilled, and entrees were brought out. Good: All American burger — good ol American burger no complaints Shrimp and andouille pasta — good flavor and combination Mashed potatoes — good seasoning! Ok: Bourbon glazed salmon — nice char on the salmon, regular and sweet potato mash were delicious, the broccoli was flavorless and cold on both plates. Fried catfish platter — great crust cooked perfectly, awesome fries, slaw was under seasoned and plain Bad: Gumbo — came out COLD which is very sad because the favors were good. Fried goat cheese salad — came with no pecans and when we mentioned it we were informed they were out of pecans! This was very disappointing seeing as that is a main flavor component and a huge miscommunication between f.o.h and b.o.h. This dish should have been exchanged or comped seeing as we paid for something we never received. Tried to order banana foster and they were out of bananas but at least we found out before we got the dish. Cherry on top of the Sunday. We won’t be dining here again but this is just a heads up to the staff that there are some serious details that need to be analyzed. Our server was apologetic and friendly but it’s very hard to overlook so many issues in one seating especially on a such a special occasion.

The steak, service and especially the manager were all well under par!!! Go for a burger and a beer but never if you want a decent dining experience! Not worthy of even one star.

Only reviewing on my meal, I had alligator fritters, fried green tomatoes, and a fried oyster po’ boy. It was edible, and not terrible food but not a place I would be dying to go back to. The tomatoes were really tough and the batter was sliding off. The atmosphere and decorations were awesome and it was a great location, but my food was just«eh». Could definitely come here for a few drinks and maybe apps, just not to repeat the food I had.

When I went for dinner, I was very impressed with the food. I ordered sweet tea to drink and thought it was great — sweeter than most people like but perfect for my tastes. For an appetizer, we tried the crawfish tails, which are fried and served with a remoulade sauce. The crawfish were nicely breaded and had a good salty taste, which paired well with the creamy remoulade sauce. I had the jambalaya as my entrée, which had good spice(both heat and flavor) and a very generous portion. The jambalaya had shrimp(which were rather small), sausage, chicken, rice, and a variety of vegetables. The flavors mixed well together and I ended up taking half of it home. I scaled it back when I went for lunch and ordered a shrimp po’boy. The sandwich was decent but rather skimpy on the shrimp and the bread overpowered everything else. A few more shrimp on the sandwich and it would have been a winner. The value for The Quarter isn’t bad. For lunch, they have a good selection of entrees in the $ 6-$ 10 price range and dinner entrees fit more in the $ 10-$ 15 range. They also have a nice looking brunch menu, which is available on the weekend.

I had the most delicious meal here. Great atmosphere out on the patio. The waitress got our drinks within 5 minutes of sitting. Service was fast. We got the blackened gator bites with a remoulade sauce for our appetizer. Although it was on the salty side, I did appreciate the spices. Had to douse it in the remoulade sauce though :( I got the fried oyster platter with beer battered fries and coleslaw for my entrée. It was divine, very fresh oysters used and the batter was nice and crispy. The beer battered fries are probably the best I’ve ever had. The coleslaw was missing a little something. I highly recommend this place :)

This is what I have been looking for in SWVA for the past 4 years. It reminds me of Broadway Oyster Bar in Saint Louis, MO. Great place to hit in Roanoke.

I’m surprised by the range of reviews. I’ve eaten here several times and have never had bad food or service. I’d say it’s one of the three best restaurants in Roanoke. And I don’t know what the other two would be! The burgers are THEBEST. And the meatloaf is the best I’ve had since my mother died. Her meatloaf was awesome. I’ve had a bit of almost everything on the menu and no complaints about the food at all… it’s always been tasty and well cooked. Service is always good. I have only one small quibble. I was planning to meet friends from out of town for lunch and when I was having lunch on the patio one day I asked if my dog would be welcome out there(I knew the friends really wanted to see the dog, not me. I’m just chopped liver) and was told they’d be happy to have her. I showed up and the patio didn’t appear to be in service so I stuck my head in the door and asked when it would open for lunch as I had my dog with me… and was told it wouldn’t be open for lunch at all because… wait for it… they were power washing it! REALLY? Power washing the patio at noon on a gorgeous day just made for sitting outside and having lunch? We found another place with outside seating(see Firefly Fare review) but I was very disappointed as I thought my friends would have very much enjoyed The Quarter. As would my dog.
