Stopped by for lunch one afternoon. I sat outside on the patio and ordered the Galimore sandwich with fries. The sandwich is chicken fingers, cheese, bacon, and ranch. It was ok. The fries were ok. The bar is divey, which is fine if that’s what you’re into, but the grungy atmosphere doesn’t draw me in for food. Probably won’t be eating there again.

Came in for lunch, 3 of us ordered burgers. They were definitely frozen bubba burgers. Really greasy I think they fried the buns on the grill in grease before building the burger. Also got the blackened pasta and it had no flavor. Waitress listened to our conversation and kept interrupting. Horrible experience.

So I met some friends here upstairs like I typically do when I go to cornerstone. So essentially I got a few canned beers from the bartender upstairs whenever I requested one. That’s how the system works so that’s perfect. Anyway my friend decided he had enough of downtown and ordered an über ride home. We were excited to see that as soon as we ordered one they were close by on the corner, only to be met by some guy who said we «couldn’t walk outside» seriously they had a chain fence up between us and our designated driver and we had to walk back the length of the restaurant and through the interior to get to it. Ok, that’s fine. We walk out the front door and I am grabbed by the«doorman» who has no designation as an employee or not just a guy who is standing at the door and he reaches in my packet and grabs the EMPTY plastic cup I have. He asks«what is this?» And I reply that it’s an empty cup, turning it over to show it never even held anything at all. Low and be hold he grabs it, and says«it’s mine it’s illegal for you to leave with it» I reply with its a plastic cup that’s empty, to which I’m greeted with a strong arm pulling the cup away and saying I can go «fuck myself». Seriously upstairs bar 7⁄10 Downstairs bar 7⁄10 Front door worst/10 Can’t get any worse with the service at the door, power crazy plus just plain ignorant.

Definitely a favorite!!! Food is great and the lunch prices make it a must stop for anyone. I’ve had the burger and the Southwest wrap, very impressed by both

Not impressed. Had a southwestern chicken wrap for dinner. Was clearly pre-made and warmed on a stove. Place was dark and not a lot going on but it was Tuesday night. Beers were good though. Many other options to choose from in the area.

Great view of downtown in a prime spot on the corner in the heart of everything. Cold beer, nice staff and real dive experience. Plenty of TVs and great beer selection for a decent price. You can enjoy the bar inside or be served on the awesome patio. It’s a little dirty, but it adds to the charm.

A cool little restaurant on the corner(obviously) that has a nice view of downtown Roanoke. This bar has a bit of a Cheers feel to it and the food is surprisingly good. My chicken parmigiana wrap was quite tasty. My server Sabrina was friendly and helpfu. She was a little rock star and we never had to look for her once, for she was always there with our next round of drinks. She was also very helpful with information on things to do and see in Roanoke.

Was at cornerstone last night. The owner was having trouble with the music, jokingly said he needed a new DJ, he turned into a complete jerk, said that because I spent ten years in the Marine corps that was uneducated(currently a grad student in Boston) tried to follow me down the street taunting me. Luckily a cop was close by. The bar was fun and the atmosphere was ok but with an owner like that I will never visit again.

Very dive bar feeling when you walk in, but feels like a restaurant once you sit down. Staff provides prompt service and quality food is served. I had a lemon pepper chicken salad that was delicious! The lemon pepper chicken was tangy and the shredded mozzarella added a tasty touch. Good portion for a salad, goes well with honey mustard dressing, and a fair value for $ 7.69. Conveniently located in downtown Roanoke, you can simply walk there if you’re staying at Hotel Roanoke(DoubleTree) via a pedestrian bridge. Outdoor seating is very limited(3 – 4 small tables alongside the street.). There is an upstairs area available for more seating.

In the last two weeks, I’ve been to Cornerstone Bar & Grill in downtown Roanoke twice for lunch. I think I’ve now been probably five or six times for lunch or dinner, and I can’t think of a meal I haven’t enjoyed there. If you asked most people in Roanoke if they have heard of Cornerstone, they would say it’s a bar that is downtown by the City Market Building but I don’t think they would mention anything about the food, much less about the fact that they serve surprisingly good food. Aside from the fact that they have a great location downtown, there isn’t a ton of atmosphere for Cornerstone. In this sense, it’s just a typical bar. However, they do have two additional floors for seating as well as some outdoor seating that is great for people watching in one of the more pedestrian-friendly areas of downtown Roanoke. Also, the past two times I’ve been, I was really impressed with the service. The waitresses were extremely friendly, checked our table multiple times to see if we needed anything, and the food was served quickly in both visits. Again, the little things people probably wouldn’t expect when they drive by. I think the food offers one of the best lunch deals in town, especially downtown where prices seem to be constantly rising(cough…Firefly…). I’ve ordered wraps during my last two visits and those are served with a side and drink for $ 8.00 I’ve tried the BBQ Chicken Wrap, Southwest Chicken Wrap, & Basil Chicken Wrap and all three were very good — the basil chicken being my favorite. Grilled chicken, basil, tomato, cheese, and balsamic in a wrap is a wonderful combination. And contrary to my ordering habits, they do offer things other than chicken wraps. For a side, I can’t recommend anything other than the buffalo chips with a side of ranch. It’s the flavor of a cajun fry in the shape of a potato chip and it’s heavenly. Downtown Roanoke isn’t lacking in good restaurants and more seem to be on the way. Cornerstone Bar & Grill seems to be one of those good restaurants that stays under the radar and that’s fine with me. I’ll keep enjoying it while everyone else misses out.

Cozy venue with upstairs and patio seating. Perfect for parties and has a dj and dancing on the weekends. Cornerstone has an awesome $ 8 lunch deal and they ALSO deliver! The lunch comes with a drink too! Be sure to tip your servers and delivery persons… They’re hungry too! :)

Food is OK at best. But one of the owners has been a complete jerk to my husband & I on several occasions. I will never go back. If you want good service go somewhere else!

The Cornerstone is a nice bar downtown with friendly service and a patio that gives you a nice view of the action going on around the square. Nothing extraordinary, but all in all a comfortable place for a drink. The main gem for me however was Track 1 — a local brew by the Roanoke Railhouse Brewery. I must say I’m pleasantly surprised by the number of local breweries popping up around SW Virginia and kudos to bars like Cornerstone who carry these craft brews.

Cornerstone is one of the better bars in downtown Roanoke. Located at the center of the market square this bar seems to fairly popular. The main floor holds the main bar area, a few tables and of course the outdoor patio. Drinks on the outdoor patio on a summer night facing right into market square are awesome. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are all pretty solid. Upstairs there is a mote relaxed area for people to sit eat drink or catch up. The coolest thing about this bar is all the foreign currency bills stapled to the wall behind the bar. Definitely put cornerstone on your list of rounds for a weekend bar hopping in downtown Roanoke.

Tuesday night Karaōke? Woohooo! I’m there… To listen to the people that have had one too many drinks and think they sound just like the real thing. Cornerstone is good fun and an attractive bar from the streets because of their outdoor patio that sits right beside the street. Its kind of hard to miss a bar when the music and the people are oozing out onto the street. There are always people dancing in the bar entrance, whereas the upstairs is more of the talk and catch up area. The patio is nice because it can get hot in there but its sometimes difficult to get a table. Prices are average and the staff is usually friendly.
