Loved it! Service and food were good+. Loved the sashimi, and ginger dressing on the salad. We shared the dragon roll too.

Went yesterday for the first time. We both loved it. I had Tempura and friend had tuna — service good, friendly and we will go back. I never order fish except by the ocean; can’t see fresh fish hours away from any ocean.

Love this place! Never have received anything less than awesome. Service could be a little better but nothing to really complain about.

I really wanted to like this place. My wife sent me here after searching this site. It had a sense of a great find in an undiscovered hall in the wall. Well«A Metzia» it wasn’t. The price is reasonable and the server was nice but the fish was far from fresh, comes to think of it, I never had such a «tough» Yellow Tail before and the White Tuna was not much better. They are nice though.

Went to wasabi before Thanksgiving with my sister. we were reuniting for the first time in months! She loves sushi and we heard this was the best.WRONG. we ordered two rolls each. my sister did not like one of her rolls because it was drenched in sauce so she only ate one piece out of around 20. We informed the waitress and she asked what was wrong with the roll, we told her it was too much sauce and it did not taste good, she proceeded to tell us «well, its our most popular roll, everyone loves it“so we smiled and asked if we could«order another roll INITSPLACE» the waitress said yes, we ordered another roll that costs the same amount($ 20) she brings it over but leaves the other sushi platter on the table. the whole time we were at the table that platter went untouched. when our check came, she cleared the table, and we noticed the check had the roll on there that she didn’t like AND the roll that we ordered to REPLACE that roll. we got charged for both and she said that she would not take the roll off because«there was nothing wrong with it, we just didn’t like it» but she had already thrown it away, so we couldn’t even take it home for a family member if we wanted, so we asked to speak to the manager, HESAIDHEWOULDONLYDOHALFOFF! like give me break. WHATRESTAURANTMAKESYOUPAYFORSOMETHINGTHATYOUDON’T LIKEAFTERTASTINGONEBITE??? so make sure you KNOW that you will like something before you eat it here. horrible customer service. i will never return. BENGUIS from here on out.

The food is always great. It’s a small sushi place with decent prices, good menu, and most importantly good sushi. The other ratings on here seem to be pretty picky. It’s as clean as anywhere in downtown Roanoke and much nicer dining than some of its neighbors. it’s also open later than some other places down there which can be very nice.

Awesome sushi, great prices. Good service. Cleanliness not so much. Everything’s sticky. Otherwise four stars.

The sushi is great, but the service is ridiculously slow. This is not the first time I have had this exact experience here. I had an empty plate sitting at the edge of the table, empty beer glass and wallet sitting out on the table with credit card on top for 15 minutes, and no one noticed. My waitress walked by 3 times during that 15 minutes. I finally gave in and started waving to get her attention. I will probably go back despite the service.

A good dining experience with friends at Wasabi’s. Started with miso soup and a house salad. The miso was a mix of red and white and had a good overall flavor, but tasted just a bit stale. The salad was good but came with a miniscule amount of the quite tasty creamy ginger dressing. The server was kind enough to bring an additional cup. For the main course, I had tuna nigiri sushi and the ubiquitous California roll. The tuna was exceptionally fresh and tender and the flavor was exactly as I had hoped for. The California roll was a bit of a letdown, the avocado was browned and the cucumber lacked the snap and crunch that typically makes this roll a favorite. The texture aside, the taste was good, but the paltry and inconsistent amount of roe on the outside was a disappointment. Overall, the dining experience was very good. Service was responsive and we were served our order quickly and with courtesy. The atmosphere and décor at Wasabi’s was a bit drab and the table lighting could use some improvements, but it did not take away from the enjoyable dining experience. There are limited choices for Japanese restaurants in Roanoke and Wasabi’s is a good choice for a decent meal.

Could not BELIEVE how rude!!! Went in for lunch, and after we were seated the waiter came around to tell us «We close at 3:00 you will have to eat fast.» SERIOUSLY??? It was 2:45. If you don’t want customers past 3:00 shut your doors earlier! It was with the drive to Ben Gui’s off 419, the food is better and the service is awesome, downtown was just more convenient that day. I promise, I will not make that mistake again!

Great place for Sushi. We tried the Lover’s Roll(#1), Samurai Roll(#3) and the Don Roll(#2) — The only negative was that there was a strong odor, but the fish tasted fresh. I’d come back, I think it’s the best Sushi joint around.

Amazing sushi. The Sumo roll is definitely on the list of my top 5 favorite rolls of all time(gigantic portion — 12 pieces!). Also had the Dang Bang Shrimp, which was incredible. I wish this place was in my hometown! I would go here all the time.

Our favorite place to get sushi! Great selection for a decent price. The sumo roll is my favorite but our group frequently orders some of the spicier rolls and enjoys them as well! Always have had good service here and would definitely recommend you stop by!

Great lunch spot or lunch takeaway. The sushi is above average quality for Roanoke. The lunch special is also the best value for sushi in Roanoke from my research. The tempura is not quite my preference with the pieces to large to easily handle although it is still a better value than most places if you get the lunch special. I would rank this my number #1 sushi spot just for its affordability to those who like to have sushi often :)

Fast, friendly, high quality sushi. No brown rice rolls so if you want that you are SOL. Miso soup is good. I don’t recommend gyoza. Seafood soup is also very good. I have been here dozens of times and quality is pretty consistent

The Sushi and Sashimi were outstanding. The Tako Salad was amazing and very large. Service was outstanding and quick, I was always looked upon and never felt like I was being hurried to finish. My kind of atmosphere. Other sushi restaurants should be more like this.

Very good! A little dark inside, but great service and food. The rolls are LARGE! I like eating rolls in one bite and I had trouble with those! Very tasty too. My companion had chicken teriyaki. It was yummy and came on a sizzling skillet. Glad we visited

Wasabi’s is more than just a trendy downtown restaurant… it’s a genuine sushi bar. As their website correctly states, «the word ‘sushi’… doesn’t refer to fish at all — it refers to rice that has been seasoned with vinegar, sugar and salt.» They definitely understand sushi rice here! I ordered takeout consisting of shrimp, tuna, and white tuna nigiri. The rice in my nigiri had extraordinary flavor. The two types of tuna were the perfect cuts of fish. My shrimp actually tasted like shrimp, with zero fishy taste. The parking in downtown Roanoke may not be the best, but I know where to please my nigiri cravings despite the fact!

Wasabi’s is just OK. I have to say that the food quality is very inconsistent. Some days I go and the rolls are great, and other days I want to ask for a refund. I typically go for the simple california roll, but the last time I went the avocado used in the roll was brown(clearly not fresh), and the cucumber was squishy(should have been crispy/crunchy). Also, I think that for rolls they clearly state that has immitation crab meat, they charge way too much compared to other’s out there. The ginger salad is a good way to start but honestly that is all I can say good about this place anymore. The lunch deals really are not deals when you individually price certain rolls together and make your own meal.
