Repackaged bulk spicing and unique Indian products that you can find much cheaper elsewhere(e.g. Jersey City). The extra hand in your pocket at Subzi’s is for the convenience of not having to fight your way through creepy wholesale places in JC that are even filthier than this place. Exotic produce, spices and the masala naan breads are my excuse for stopping in. Now and again the frozen samosa’s or pakoras are a useful grab — but check the born on dates. Beware of the prepared food here! After several tries I found the biryani’s, samosa’s and pakora’s not particularly fresh, greasy as heck and as others note, the dingy surroundings mess with your dining chi.

Indian groceries in bulk! That pretty much sums up my review! This is what keeps me coming back here, plus there’s tons of parking! I haven’t been to the other locations, but I agree with my fellow Unilocalers that some… Key word«some» items are expensive. The staples I come here for are rice, flour, lentils, Indian seasonings and Indian produce that’s hard to find at your regular supermarkets. It’s pretty difficult to find turmeric root and certain okras, but in here it’s easy peasy! In addition, there rice and flour options are vast and in bulk, I’m talking 10 – 30 pound bags here folks! Thus when shopping in bulk and visiting this location, I believe it’s worth it. It’s my Costco for certain Indian products! Spot in and check them out!

I’m not a regular customer of theirs but I do stop in from time to time to pick up an item or two. I usually get some dried fruit or nuts. Their almonds are fresh, delicious and well-priced. Their clients seem to be mostly ethnic Indians. I can’t actually remember a time when I wasn’t the only non Indian in the place. I assume this means that their offerings are authentic and well-priced. One huge issue is that, for lack of a better word, the store is filthy. Floors, shelves, glass, displays, counters and just about everything else could use a thorough cleaning. If this was a mainstream supermarket, they’d probably be closed and reviews would be dismal. They do have a café but I would never consider eating there because I’m so skived by the rest of the place. It’s really a shame because I do like Indian food. Oh well…

Avoid this place. Not only do they charge higher prices, they even don’t check and discard expired stock. Bought some Indian snacks and found that they were past the expiration date. In another trip we bought some fruits and vegetables and those had all gone bad. The management doesn’t seem to care about quality. Have had at least three bad experiences and now I have finally decided that a trip to Jersey City is better than wasting time at Subzi Bazaar. Annapurna(Teaneck) is also a good alternative but it does not carry much variety.

Called before coming and was told they had what I needed(red henna) then I get there and it’s like oh we don’t have. Then every question I asked is I don’t know, I mean really? I hate going to a store and they don’t know their product.

This is an Indian grocery and there is also a cooked Indian food takeout section. The grocery is full of imported Indian items. I’m not Indian myself but every time I’ve been the store has been full of Indian people, which says something. There are some items British folk will be familiar with too(PG Tips, Tetley, Ribena), all very pricey though. I’ve tried the chicken tikka masala from the takeout section twice. The first time was excellent, I was given a lot of juicy chunks of white meat, the second time however I got 95% gravy and a few tiny strips of bony or gristly chicken, which has put me off ordering from them again. The gravy is very good though — nice and spicey.

FAIL also got a spice mix box for 99 cents, kurkure chips, & ginger paste! they’ve got lots of other items like yogurt, lentils, snacks, fruit, & even a counter selling hot foods like samosas

It is expensive but they had good deals the day I went. Got a large container of mango lassi, an assortment of sweets, a pistachio Kulfi dessert, and a large Guava Paste. 15 dollars.(Yep, not cheap.) All of the stuff I got was good. Going to try their café next time. Edit: Went the café: Solid Chicken-Egg Karathi roll. 4 for the café.

Here’s a little tip: to get inside you have to go around the building to the back of it in order to enter the store, so technically the ‘store front’ is around the back. You have make a right off highway {17 North} and go down the side street a short distance to get to the parking lot and entrance. The parking lot will be on your right. Check out the two photos I added. I love to cook Indian food and this place has tons of ingredients for Indian /Middle eastern cooking, both fresh and dry ingredients. Herbs spices, basmati rice etc. This place is indispensable when it comes to finding ingredients for this type of cuisine. I buy my beans, rices and spices in bulk here. The tall man who works there {he might be the owner or manager} was friendly and helpful if you need to find something or ask a question.
