Moosejaw

Went in a few weeks ago and was told I could order up to 11 knives, a gift I wanted to give to my wedding party, I ordered 9. They proceed to arrive one by one — I don’t know why — each with a receipt and a, frankly, unnecessary amount of stickers (I now have 18 moosejaw stickers). When I realized I only had 8 of the 9 knives I ordered I gave them a call.
At this point they proceeded to tell me they sent me everything they had.
ME: «but you told me you had 11»
MJ: «yeah well it looks like we sold a couple»
ME: «whey would you sell a couple? I ordered those»
MJ: «yeah sorry» (actually said this)
«yeah sorry» doesn’t really cut it. I could return the knives, but they’re a gift and I don’t have time to get 9 items before I need to give them out. So unless they want to reimburse me for the money I’d have to spend to get my shipping on a new gift expedited, «yeah sorry» actually proves to be woefully inadequate.
REI came in for the win on this one. They did this absolutely crazy thing when I ordered from them, they… wow they held the knife for me. They didn’t just sell it to someone.

My visit to moosejaw was the first time I’d had the pleasure to explore one of these wonderful stores. Upon entering, were immediately greeted cross-​store by one of the friendly and excited employees. Not only are the people who work here happy, they’re also extremely funny and knowledgeable. They handled every question like a champ, and made the shopping experience fun.
Moosejaw had a wide range of gear, at pretty great prices. They offer everything from clothes, to climbing and camping gear, survival items, freeze-​dried food, and much much more.
Two employees, who introduced themselves as Alex and Mansa, treated us like friends and gave us the respect a customer deserves. What more needs to be said about the way a store should be run and customer service handled?
Overall, I’m very happy I’ve finally discovered moosejaw. I’ll be heading back soon, for sure, and I sincerely hope they do well enough to expand.

Moosejaw is my sanctuary, this store in particular. Ever go in a store where you feel like you can actually do anything??? I always dream about backpacking and rock climbing one day and Moosejaw just provides everything you will ever need to survive and live life outdoors.
The main reason for the review is to inform everyone how accommodating the staff is at this store. Every time I shop, I would always find great deals and the employees would constantly inform me about the hot picks and sale for the month in a non-​irritating way. They are also knowledgeable, and some are actually experienced and professional backpackers, campers, hikers and etc. Real outdoors-​yyy. The marketing strategy is working for me so far.
I actually signed up for the email alerts and they are fantastic. I love the weekly deals!!! If the store does not have the item you are looking for, they would order it for you with the discounted price. BTW, their e-​mail alerts reminds me of my desire to explore the outdoors… (yes, i mentioned the word OUTDOORS three times already!!! Oh, summer!!!)
Online shopping is also very therapeutic. Their website provides so many brands of clothing, footwear and gear. Live chat is very helpful too.
