Pretty decent lunch coming from Shogun on a crummy afternoon. They delivered, so we ordered. I got sushi, and a salmon salad. They were okay, I may just get traditional chinese food though if we order again. I’ve definitely had better sushi, and my salmon salad, while tasty, was rather small for it’s $ 9 price tag. But, like I said, they have delivery, so I’d probably order from them again. My coworkers traditional Chinese(American) fare smelled and looked really good!

Very speedy delivery. Love their General Tso Chicken. I would also highly recommend the Dan Dan noodles. If you are looking to mix it up and get something other than Lo Mein, which is also fantastic, the Dan Dan noodles are a great choice. They are thick noodles served in a brown garlic based sauce with your choice of meat. I personally get the chicken. A great place to get you Chinese food fix within 30 minutes.

Get food from here quite a bit and I really like it. Great place. Really good quality Asian food and not too expensive which is not very common. They also deliver and it is very fast. Would definitely recommend.

Went here with my boyfriend on a Tuesday around 5, and it was completely dead. But it’s a pretty cute little restaurant, and they have a hibachi section. The food was great. We both loved it, and if you get the chance; get the dinner for 2. It’s only 25 $ for Chicken Friend Rice, Almond Chicken, and General Sou chicken with soup and egg rolls. Big portions, really yummy! Would definitely recommend.

Really fresh Mongolian beef. S/S chicken okay but dumplings and their sauce really really good. Look forward to eating in rather than take out. Ordering from Unilocal was awesome!

My boyfriend wanted to take me to the Sterling Heights Shogun, which is his favorite, but this one(Rochester Hills) location had coupons on Valpak so we decided to try this location instead. {PS: the coupons are pretty good, too — we used the buy 1 entrée, get 1 half-off, but there’s a 2 can dine for $ 28.99 one too which is a great deal} I ordered the chicken + steak meal, and he ordered the chicken/steak/shrimp one. It comes with onion soup(just eh for me, he liked it though), salad(I LOVE ginger dressing so that was great), and rice. The chicken fried rice, which was seemingly standard, was an extra $ 2.50 on the bill which was a little offputting. The meal was delicious and our chef was great too. We also split a California roll — I’m not normally a seafood person and this had crab in it, but you could barely taste it with some wasabi and soy sauce. The location is a little small, inside a strip mall near Livernois and Walton Blvd., and was pretty empty when we went, around 6:30pm on a Tuesday night.(maybe that’s why they have the coupons?) I’d come back because the food was good. It’s a bit pricey but that’s standard for hibachi — I think my meal was about $ 21 and his was $ 24, then $ 2.50 for the rice and I’m not sure how much the sushi was.(Then $ 10 off with the coupon)

So I never got to actually eat the food here, so this review is not based on the food. This review is based simply on service and the way we were treated when we came here. We walked in after walking out of another Asian place for similar reasons to why we walked out of this one… We walked in and were greeted by a nice guy who sat us at the sushi bar. The guy behind the bar barely even said hello and his lack of knowledge of alcohol and the menu was shocking. My friend ordered a peach sake which she wasn’t thrilled about, I ordered the«green dragon» classic cocktail from the menu. The menu said it was gin, tequila, rum, midori, and sour mix. I was thinking it would be pretty good, but no. It was literally PURE alcohol. I had to ask them to please put something else in it because it was literally inedible and tasted like cough syrup. Whatever you do, stay away from their drink menu based on the fact that they’re expensive and taste absolutely horrific. The waitress came to us after about 10 minutes, didn’t ask us if we had any questions about the menu, which we clearly did because we were staring at it puzzling over it asking each other questions for about 20 minutes. When we asked the man behind the bar,(who kept asking us if we were ready to order), if the sushi came with soup or salad or anything, he said no but there are combo options for sushi in the menu. When we looked, we couldn’t find that option. We also asked the bartender guy and waitress about a few other drinks to which their response was, «I don’t know, I don’t drink.» What kind of bartender doesn’t drink? Anyways, we literally could not find anything on the menu simply because our questions were not being answered, the menu was extremely confusing, and based on the drinks, we didn’t want to order and then be disappointed and stuck there with our food. Not to mention the place was completely dead and the atmosphere, which it was nice looking inside, seemed as though nobody wanted us there. So we granted their wish, cashed out our drinks(I left mine completely full after the dude took it back, doused it with pineapple juice and returned it to me in a humungous-sized fishbowl style glass). If I wanted pineapple juice I would have gone to the coney down the street for breakfast. Went to Buffalo Wild Wings across the street and had a great time. Still on the hunt for quality Asian restaurants in the Rochester Hills area…

DONOTUSETHE UnilocalEAT24APP to order from this restaurant. They will conveniently tell you that you need to pay again when you get to their restaurant and you WILL get double charged for crappy food. Unbelievable, I will NEVER come here again.

Shogun has been around for a long time in the metro Detroit area so I was very pleased when we finally got one in Rochester. The new location continues their tradition of excellent food, a nicely done hibachi show, and reasonable prices. Most recently I decided to have my girlfriend birthday party here. They were extremity accommodating and gave us two grills to ourselves on Saturday night with only a few days notice. The chefs put on a good show with much more personality than Benihana, where it is very corporate and cookie-cutter. The food was outstanding, as were the drinks. I should also note that their sushi is very fresh and delicious. Lastly, a big perk, they put out very nice coupons in the Val-pack that come out every month, making it even more affordable. We come here at least once a month. Don’t bother with Benihana, shogun is miles ahead of them in terms of quality and atmosphere and at a better price!

Great service! My bf and I went on a week day to enjoy the food since that place is always so packed and small. Food was amazing, waitress was more than fantastic, i dropped my mint and she offer to bring another one. Something so small A++++

Stopped in for dinner towards the end of the night. There was only one couple eating inside of the restaurant so it was a little unnerving why it wasn’t a little busier. We had waited at the front with no one to greet us for about 5 minutes then someone came and sat us down. The great thing about this place is that their hapy hour specials are a great great deal so if you wanted to come to hang out and have drinks You’d be good in that area. I decided to order from the sushi menu and the hubbie ordered from the Chinese menu. The Chinese menu was great because it came with soup as if it were a lunch special. However, when it came to ordering my sushi I wanted to get bonito since it was on their menu. I don’t always expect to get this since it is a rarity that places actually have it in stock, but I always try to order it anyways because I like it. They came back and told me that they didn’t have it and so my back up was something much more usually available, mackeral. She leaves comes back 5 minutes later and says they don’t have that either! At this point I’m sorely disappointed, I order hamachi half expecting they don’t have that either. When it did come out I was surprised to see that great marbeling on the piece of fish so it did redeem itself a bit. Our waitress was also very sweet and kind so can’t dislike this restaurant too much, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back again. I think that the area likes it because it is a good take out restaurant.

I’ve always driven by this place but I never bothered to go in. Saw that they had a groupon and decided to give it a try. Went in during lunch time, and it was pretty dead, but I expected that. The waitress was nice and friendly and brought out warm towels to wash our hands. I really liked the atmosphere in this restaurant because it was modern, clean, dimly lit to make it more comfortable, and had really cool lighting. I don’t usually like hibachi style food, so I skipped the grill and sat at a table. The menu had a lot of different options that allowed for a variety of interesting food. My friend got a sushi roll and it was made quickly. Tasted awesome and it was plenty to eat. I was craving pad Thai and luckily they had it on the menu. It was completely different than any I’ve tried before, but I really liked it. Finished the meal off with a flaming volcano bowl and it was so awesome. Definitely going to return here and maybe try out the hibachi too.

I tried it when it first opened up last year. It serves similar food to the Bennihana chain and Miyako(Great Lakes Crossing). However, it seems less expensive and to be locally owned. The only problem was that the waitress seemed to have difficulty understanding us.

Got takeout twice, General Tso’s. Judge away, but this is how I decide if I like a place. The sauce was very good, sweet and hot(you can get it how hot you’d like), the chicken is LIGHTLY breaded not that thick batter some places have, which is how I prefer it. Food came out hot and within 10 mins. I’ve gotten the combination dinner which comes with the entrée, soup, fried rice and an egg roll for $ 7.15. It’s plenty of food and then some, for what I consider a good price. This could easily be split between 2 ppl if you’re at a normal hunger level, not rabid. I’ve not had the sushi, but and looking forward to trying it.

We got delivery tonight. The delivery guy was friendly. It was pretty quick. We ordered hot and sour soup, rainbow roll, and the dan dan noodle dinner, which includes egg roll and miso soup. The hot and sour soup was really good! My 2nd favorite of all hot and sour soups! The egg rolls were adequate. The rainbow roll was extremely small for the price. It was ok. Probably not the best thing to order for delivery, but what can I say? It might actually be the worst roll I’ve had, actually, in terms of size, rice, firmness, and price, but even saying that, I enjoyed the flip out of it! The dan dan noodles were the worst. Soupy sauce and squishy noodles. I had a bite and left the rest to my man. He said the more he ate, the better they got. :) All in all, I think that I won’t bother dining in, but in times of crisis, like needing someone to bring me food, I think we’ll see what else we might try on their menu. It cost around $ 45 including tip, so it definitely will have to be a laziness emergency.

Even though this new(or revamped) restaurant has a few kinks to work out, I’m still giving it a high rating for a few important reasons. First, it’s much more charming and romantic on the inside than it looks from the outside. Which means, it definitely should be considered for date night. Second, the skill level of the hibachi cooks, as well as the food they make, is pretty good – in fact, it’s right up there with Benihana. And the last reason this hidden gem deserves a chance is that it’s affordable. All of the entrée items and specialty drinks are reasonably priced. I had a Mai Tai with my entrée, and for 6 dollars and some change, it was well worth it. Look for coupons in the mail and give this strip mall destination a try!

Opened 27th of August, just found it today ! Sept. 15th. YUMMY… Sy was our Chef. Good Job Sy(hope I spelled your name right) Food was Fantastic ! Loved the Udon noodles ! Nice touch. The décor when you open the door is nice, as you walk around a glass panel, that had a beautiful etching, on the other side. Was a small water fountain made for a coin toss, and wishes. Complete with a couple of yellow duckies. On your left is a beautiful bar with a gorgeous 4′ Jade Budda. Enter into the dining room to the Teppanyaki tables. Dinner starts with Sushi if you’d like ? Dinners include soup, salad, Teppanyaki shrimp, with 3 sauces, vegetables, and white rice. Fried rice is an extra charge. But So worth the price ! Sadly Ice cream is not included in your dinner price, as most places I have been too. So don’t forget your Fortune Cookie on your way out. It’s in a bowl on the bar. A strange place? Should come with the bill maybe ? We will be back, unfortunately I will be leaving until the winter is Over. See you next Summer. Family will come and see you. KEEPUPTHEGOODWORK !
