Great experience so far with Dr. Kaplow and Optician Barb. This was the most thorough eye exam I can remember having for a routine visit. The digital retinal imaging technology is really cool, but it took several attempts by a tech and then the doctor to capture full images showing my full retina & all the peripheral laser surgery scars. A lot of effort was put into getting my prescription as best as possible considering my conditions. I cant wait to pick up my new glasses and order to contacts next week! They offer a great online account management service at

I was referred to dr. Robert Conway at Allens Creek Family Optical by Tamra at One Hip Chic, and I am forever grateful. I HATE, and I can’t stress that enough … HATE having my eyes examined, and Robert made the experience absolutely painless. He, himself, was an absolute delight, and I learned a lot about vision and eyes from him. I can’t say the exam was a delight — but that is because of ME and my issues, and certainly not him. :) His prices are reasonable, his service is superior, he accepts almost all insurances, and he absolutely takes the«unpleasantness» out of the experience. I recommend the exam he offers where he takes a digital image of the inside of your eye for $ 35 and emails you the image. Well worth the $$, and a unique, cutting edge experience. Not having to have eyes dilated is a definite boon!

My eyes require tender loving care due to several problems including severe astigmatism and past retina problems. Prior to being examined by Dr. Kaplow I had been examined, in a 12 month period, by 3 different optometrists and been fitted with lenses from 3 different prescriptions, none of which allowed me to see as well as I thought I should. Dr. Kaplow is professional, but also welcoming and friendly. She took a tremendous amount of time discussing my eyesight history and problems and in examining me. The result was yet another prescription that has hit the spot. For the first time in years I can comfortably read without squinting, closing one eye or just taking my glasses off and holding a book or paper very close. I received the TLC care I needed and highly recommend Dr. Kaplow’s Allens Creek Family Optometry.

Not only is the staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable, they go above and beyond to make sure you are completely satisfied. I’ve been dealing with a unique light sensitivity problem for almost a decade and have been troubleshooting it throughout the entire time with little success. Dr. Kaplow fitted me for these unique tinted contact lenses(since I don’t like wearing glasses) which I had never heard of and… problem solved! I’ve always had extreme difficulty with bright, fluorescent and computer screen light in addition to disagreeable light contrast situations and the contacts she fitted me for seem to calm everything down and make things«more comfortable» for my eyes and brain. I love them! I cannot recommend Dr. Kaplow and her office enough!

Dr Conway is really good, knows his stuff and is super relaxed and friendly. He explains everything so you are totally informed. If you don’t like having your eyes dilated, you can opt for what I see as a better option, the Optos Retinal digital scan($ 35). It takes a scan of the interior of your eyes, which gets a better picture of any eye issues that might be there, and it is really cool to see, and it also allows for the file to be forwarded to your other doctors if needed(they’ll even email you a copy). The other folks on staff are friendly too. The prices are consistent with or better than the average prices on contact lens, both comparing other stores and on-line.(Tip: buy a years supply, if that works for you, as to maximize savings, and check on-line, because frequently the manufacturers have rebates you can get on top of that too!). Free hot beverages from the Keurig, nice! I will have to do an update after I shop for glasses on a return trip. If I had to work at it to try and find a flaw, it would be the distraction of having«the Drive» radio station a little too loud as the not-so-in-the-background atmosphere music, but to their credit they were on the phone with a vendor working on that when I was there.(I could not help but over hear that conversation, I think b/c she had to raise her voice to be heard over the music she was seeking to replace [irony?]), so no issue there. Located near the corner of Allens Creek Blvd and Monroe Ave, it is easy drive past the entrance to the parking lot, if you are not paying attention, and the building entrance is on the East side, they share and entrance with a computer store. Oh, the bottom line is: T V E C P(maybe?)
