These reviews are for Bazil, not the Crab Shack.

Bazil — East Henrietta Road — 2÷27÷10 Mrs. Bellyman’s old friend, Metriacanthosaurus, whom she hasn’t seen since the late Jurassic was in town visiting family. Belly Family decided to meet up with her at an easy to find, yet good restaurant and Bazil was chosen by unanimous consent! Okay, Mrs. Bellyman didn’t actually ASK Bellyman, but he did assent when she told him that was his choice. Bazil is a kind of lower-end version of Mario’s. It’s owned by the same people, but you won’t pay exorbitant prices or get lower quality food. In fact, having been to both, Belly Family much prefers Bazil. Bellyman had recently read an article praising the dish chicken french. Having only had it at weddings, when Bellyman saw it on the menu, he decided to try it when it should be done right. An excellent choice! The dish was buttery without being greasy, with just the right hint of lemon. Bellyman is now a fan of chicken french! But, the best part of Bazil comes at the end: if you only have one mouth, save room for the funnel cake! It’s a huge portion that comes topped with ice cream, honey, chocolate shavings and whipped cream! Bellyman admits he would be willing to try to eat one on his own, but not while Mrs. Bellyman was watching. Oh, the things she would say… Verdict: Bellyman approves! PS for those with issues with gluten, they have a magnificent gluten-free menu that I’m told is the bomb-diggity!

The food here is okay, nothing special. It is better than the Olive Garden, but it’s still just okay. I ordered chicken and broccoli as a side(an alternative to pasta) and it was basically taste-less. I guess they assumed I was on a diet or something and just took away all flavor in that dish. The other dishes I had were too filling. I will go here for birthday parties if I am invited, but other than that, I won’t choose this restaurant on a normal basis.

When we go back to Rochester, my fiancé’s hometown, we hit up all the good spots that he grew up eating at. Someone suggested that we try this spot because they have fish fry everyday! So, here we are… and disappointed we were! I am giving this restaurant a 2 star because the calamari & artichoke french were good, but that was it! I actually sent back my fish fry, and didn’t order a substitute meal! The fish was DRY! There were 7 of us total having dinner there, and only 1 of meals was good, the Big Kettle Cooked Chicken Salad. My fiancé’s pasta was overcooked, and the seafood in the pasta was SALTY! Yes, the portions are big, but the food was just OK, I guess, if you can call it that. The salad and bread sticks were basically the same as Olive Garden. I have had better pasta dishes at Olive Garden though, for less $$. There are so many GOOD Italian Restaurants in Rochester, and the surrounding area for the same price(and even cheaper!), why would anyone eat here!

We had a nice meal here for a reasonable price. Dinners come with a salad and breadsticks just like an Olive Garden. Actually, the menu and décor remind me quite a bit of Olive Garden(I don’t mean this as a criticism… just what it is). If you are looking for a classy or romantic Italian dinner, this is not your place. Very pleasant waitress.

If you’re hungry and just don’t care or staying at the hotel next door — eating here might be acceptable. The other 364+ days of the year, Skip it. Go to Olive Garden if you want an Italian chain — similar in concept. No atmosphere and completely unexciting — like the plate of pasta they’ll put before you. For the same price, you can get much better elsewhere.

Hotel recommended to me Bazil when I was asked about casual Italian restaurant near hotel. Place was looked nice and waiter service was friendly. I ordered Linguine Di Mare and and glass of white wine. When I was eating my dish, I was feel like food will be taste better if cream sauce was little bit thicker. Also bread stick was little bit greasy and harder when I was compare to Olive Garden. But over all food was tasty, and service of waiter was friendly. Nice place for dine.
