Very enjoyable dinner! To begin, there was some very good sweet cornbread on the table as soon as we sat down. We had shrimp cocktail for appetizer and it was fresh and yummy! BBQ salmon was cooked well and tasted delicious with rice pilaf and asparagus. Everyone at our table was happy with their food! They give everyone a small lemon sorbet at the end of dinner… delicious and refreshing

My boyfriend brought me here because we both love oysters. He had decided to give it another try since the first time he and his sister went and both got sick off of the lobster bisque. While we didn’t get sick from the food, it was not fresh, and just mediocre. I had salmon with sweet potato fries, and I’ve had better of both. We had oysters and they were just so so. Next time we opted for $ 1 oysters at Lento that actually taste like they came straight from the ocean.

Every bite worth every penny! The linguine and clams with Red sauce, special request, was done quickly and perfectly. No extra charges and better than any ever had. Yes, it’s so worth it.

5 stars for service 3 stars for food My boyfriend and I came here for their oysters which had about 4 selections to choose from. We got about 4 of each and all were very fresh and delicious. The calamari was your basic calamari with peppers and marina sauce The tuna tartare was not fresh tuna it was starting to become that lighter pink color rather than a fresh red. The sauce it was soaked in tasted like lemon with a little alcohol. We did not take a second bite of that Our waitress was very nice, attentive and helpful. She made sure we had everything we needed and answered every question we had Will I be coming back? I don’t know maybe but probably for the oysters

We used to go to the CrabShack every year for our anniversary. This year we went back to the now newly named Rocfish, and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The menu had changed slightly, but they were so accommodating to what we were looking for. We have never been disappointed with the crab — both snow and Alaskan King — it’s always fresh! Our waitress Tara was lovely, and one of the owners stopped by a couple of times to make sure we were enjoying everything. Highly recommend!

Haven’t been here since they changed their name. Decided to grab lunch before voting today. Note: they are dropping lunch hours at the end of the month, except for weekends. I had a coupon to use plus gift cards. So, I treated myself to the Lobster Bisque which is one of my favorite things! The spinach salad with goat cheese which was nice and not something I’d usually go for. The blackened fish tacos with mango salsa were excellent as well! And, I’m happy to note that they no longer top their homemade chips with old bay seasoning! Definitely a spot to keep on your Rochester dining rotation!

Great choice for seafood. We ordered the Nachos and the size of the appetizer is huge… fit enough for 4 people. In the entrees, we ordered the Blackened Mahi which was nicely done, although the rice side was strictly ok. Also ordered the Lobster and Crab Mac n Cheese — it was huge, heavenly and delicious. Worth trying again for more items.

This is one my husband’s and my favorite lunch spots. The lunch deals are amazing and they don’t skimp because it is a lunch portion. No matter what I order as a main dish I will always get the bisque! It is to die for! The service is always impeccable and the food never disappoints. I have not been for dinner but can only imagine it is just as good! Looking forward to a time we can take advantage of their amazing brunch menu!

No… no…NO. JUSTNO. I’m not sure what went wrong here, but everything about my meal was just off. I went as a third wheel on a Pinky T date(I was forced), and the meal was just a colossal letdown. I can’t blame it on the seafood scene in Rochester, because I’ve actually had delicious seafood across the city, so that’s no excuse. We ordered nachos(mistake), and I had the shrimp and grits entrée. The shrimp were fine, but under-seasoned, and the grits basically had no flavor to them at all. If you are paying high end prices, the food should at least have some interesting flavors. I am not sure if salt is lacking in the kitchen, but maybe they could pick up the shaker once in a while. AVOID

FRIDAYFISHFRY $ 11.95 Value. 5 stars. Your choice of beer battered, panko, or broiled haddock and it comes with their signature house made apple cranberry coleslaw and either french fries or an alternate side at no additional charge. Sides include salt potatoes, sweet potato fries, baked or mashed potatoes, seasoned and roasted potatoes, vegetables, steamed broccoli or rice pilaf. The only side with an upcharge is the grilled asparagus. When you dine in, you get cornbread to start and a sorbet to finish. The serving sizes are generous and you can’t beat the quality for just $ 11.95. Cornbread. 4.75 stars. The cornbread is moist and delicious and occasionally you’ll find a kernel or two of sweet corn when you take a bite. It’s sweet and perfectly cooked. It really didn’t need any butter, it’s more like a dense cake. If I had to find something wrong with the cornbread, however, it would be that when I asked for some butter it was cold, foil-wrapped pats instead of soft and whipped. Again, it didn’t need butter, it was delicious on its own. Butter is just a personal preference but, to me, it seems that it goes hand-in-hand with cornbread. Anyway, it’s a generous serving of cornbread served warm. Haddock. 5 stars. Perfectly cooked and generous serving sizes. The beer batter wasn’t heavy or greasy and the broiled haddock was flaky and delicious. Served with tartar sauce and a fresh lemon wedge. Sides. 4.5 stars. The salt potatoes were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of salt flavor. The french fries were crisp and seasoned with sea salt. Both steaming hot. The delicious signature apple cranberry coleslaw is a smaller serving size but packed with fresh, crisp flavor. Sorbet. 5 stars. Palate-cleansing sorbet served with a slice of lemon when we finished our meals. Unexpected for a Friday fish fry special. Definitely a nice touch. It’s great little locally owned restaurant with a fabulous Friday fish fry! ROC on ROCfish!

Disappointing dinner here tonight for two. Although the service was very efficient, the food was mediocre. Clams casino was not prepared properly ! What they served us was really baked stuffed clams full of breadcrumbs. Chef, read a cook book. Although the Shrimps, scallops were good on the Crab cake platter and were prepared properly, the actual crab cake was too spicy and again too much bread crumbs. My Lobster Pot pie had very little lobster in it, and rather bland. Next time we feel like seafood, we will head to Bonefish grill in Victor, a much surer choice.

I’m glad trying this place out, casual atmosphere, wonderful staff, food is great. We had the crab cake combination with grill shrimps and scallops, and french haddock. Both dishes were delicious. Looking forward to try more!

I’ll keep this one short. There’s a reason Rochester isn’t well known for its seafood. The bisque was ok.

Went here with my boyfriend for Valentines day. Had a great time. Loved how they give you your own jug of water so you don’t have to worry about refills. They were out of the main appetizer we wanted, but it was Valentines day so go figure. Corn bread was amazing; our waitress was really nice and she saw we shoveled it down and brought us more immediately. The only thing I was iffy about was the size of the plates. Kind of small in my opinion for paying over twenty dollars a plate; but delicious so I guess it balances out.

Cool name ROCfish as an ode to the city. Amazing looking menu. Bad food, and on top of that overpriced(no quality-price match). Fish did not look nor taste fresh. Great idea, but completely failed execution. Shame because Rochester could use a good seafood restaurant. At least the cornbread is amazing.

5 Stars for Regular Dining. 2.5 Stars for Brunch. This review update is for BRUNCHONLY. Hubby and I went there for brunch on Sunday. There was a sign on the front door of the establishment that said brunch was $ 17.95. When I showed the menu to my husband online when deciding to go there, it said $ 17.95. When we came in for our reservation there was a sandwich board saying it was $ 25. I asked to speak to the manager, who was nice and said he’s split the difference with us, and discounted our brunch. Not the entire amount, but I appreciated he «tried» to do something. In hindsight, he really needed to honor what was advertised. When we left after brunch we noticed that there was still a sign on their FRONTDOOR advertising brunch for $ 17.95, and just now when I checked the website two days later, it still says $ 17.95. If there were a higher price for a special event, they should have mentioned it when I called to make the reservation. When I got home I looked at the website, and it was not noted on there either. Customer Service 101. The server was busy and it was darn near impossible to get our coffee refilled. We interacted with her three times — original drink order, drink drop off, and drink refill after we were done eating. She was pleasant on the rare occasion that we saw her. There were several very tasty lunch-brunch items — the carved salmon and mahi-mahi were both excellent, as were the two choices of salsas that accompanied them. The mashed potatoes were super creamy, the bruschetta was good. Hubby was impressed with the fried chicken(«moist»), the pasta was disappointing. The deserts were acceptable — fresh fruit and various cakes and cookies. The breakfast items were hit or miss. Hubby’s bacon was soggy and fatty, the eggs tasted instant. I thought the breakfast potatoes were good. I’d go back for brunch and eat just the lunch options if we’d been able to keep our coffee flowing and if we weren’t so turned off by the false advertising for pricing. It still hasn’t been updated on the website despite the manager«thanking me for bringing it to(his) attention.» But we will go back for regular, non-brunch food. That was a positive experience.

If you’re like me, you probably think the menu looks great. Do not be fooled. Don’t believe the lies. I was so disappointed. I’m hoping that I may have caught this place on an off night, but I went to this restaurant with a couple of people and everybody was less than impressed with their dinner. That was unfortunate, because it wasn’t a $ 8/plate kind of place. We tried the nachos(couldn’t resist), the lobster bisque, an oyster dish, a pasta«sampler» style dish, and shrimp/grits. It all sounded great but came out underwhelming. The pros — good service, good beer. I probably won’t return.

This review if for the brunch specifically. ROCfish just started a Sunday brunch 11a — Last seating 2:30p. We made reservations but didn’t appear to have needed them. Seats were open and we got right in. They have the«lunch/dinner» items in their front room and then«breakfast» options in the center of the restaurant. I found the layout really quite cramped in the center of the restaurant and really wouldn’t have wanted to be seated in that area and was lucky that we weren’t.(We didn’t really luck out though — seated next to a table with multiple young children running around, yelling and refusing to sit down). Service throughout the brunch was wonderful and friendly. Our Waitress made sure our drinks were filled. If you get their emails then they sent the menu, prices and a deal for this weekend and next for $ 2 off each brunch — Original cost is $ 17.95 and then can add drinks for $ 2.95(Soda, Coffee, juices, 2 Mimosas). In order to get the discount management needs to come over and you actually need to dig out that email and show them(which I thought was super annoying — obviously I got the email or I wouldn’t have mentioned it). The Food! — Many choices: Some Great and many not so great — Bacon(Undercooked and in small pieces), Pork Sausage Links, Waffles(dry, rubbery), Tasteless French toast with canned pie filling and warm maple syrup. Scrambled eggs — terrible, tasted fake. Hash browns, Eggs Benedict(didn’t try). They do have a very nice Omelet station where we had a very tasty ham, bacon, cheese omelet, they are full size so plan on splitting that with your other brunch guests. They had lobster deviled eggs but there were never any out when I went to look for some. They had a cubed cheese/pepperoni/cracker tray, some cold salads, a very basic salad bar. Creamy mashed potatoes, Crispy, really tasty Country Sweet wings, Pork Italian sausage and peppers, Tasteless and cooked to a mush Ziti Carbonara. Penne with Marinara Baked with Mozzarella which was also cooked to complete mush. They had their garlic breadsticks that were warm, fresh and well seasoned. My favorite thing of the day was their rich, creamy baked macaroni and cheese. Initially at the Carving Station they had standard prime rib which was average but under seasoned. They had a tiny mangled piece of Blackened Mahi Mahi left, I didn’t try it. Management came over to discuss the coupon and I asked if they would be having the Southern Fried Chicken(which we were honestly looking most forward to) and Salmon. Management acted as though the fried chicken wasn’t mentioned on the planned menu and noted there wouldn’t be any. He did get right on the Salmon and he and our server made sure I got some. The salmon was cooked perfect and was seasoned well. The dessert was a complete after thought with multiple box cake mixes, minimally flavored brownies but did have some good mini cannolis. The Italian cookies tasted stale and just not great. They had a small chocolate fountain(like home birthday party sized — not Marios old one) — with strawberries, marshmallows, pretzels, graham crackers. Overall with the salmon/prime rib the price was fair — but I do think it should include non-alcohol drinks. Service/Management was very good and is the highlight. We really wished they had the fried chicken which was listed on the planned menu. Although honestly I would prefer to just get some Bisque and Cornbread to go.

I was here for lunch about a week ago and my experience was wonderful. Right as I sat down, the waitress was attentive. She was very friendly and took the time to explain the specials. Since it was my first time, she brought out a shrimp cocktail for me to try. It was absolutely delicious and the sauce had the right sweet/sour taste to it. I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese, and it was too die for. It was a plate full of carbs and cheese, but I loved it. In addition, I also ordered the seaweed salad and it was on point. It was savory with a hint of sweetness. Overall, I truly recommend RocFish. They take the time to make their customers feel acknowledged and their food makes the soul happy.

Overall, a pretty decent dinner stop. Upon entering, the restaurant feels a little diner-ish. The wood chairs in the carpeted restaurant with overly bright lights and dingy nautical décor was a little disappointing. Our waitress dropped off a monster tray of cornbread– weird and kind of flavorless. Next came drink decisions– the red wine list was terrible– not a thing on there I would drink, and I was in the mood for red. I settled for a white and set about ordering an appetizer. We decided on oysters. They came on a tray of shaved ice and were absolutely delicious. Next, my husband ordered Mako and I had the seafood fradiavlo. Both were very good. After dinner we headed to the bar for a second drink. Nothing to complain about. Overall it was a good experience, but I’m not sure if I would return.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I went recently, and didn’t realize beforehand that the Mario’s/Bazil family didn’t own it any longer. I’m sorry I waited so long to try this restaurant! The beer and cocktail selection were perfect, and so was the food. I explained to our server(who was phenomenal) that one(a bit older) person in our party would drink lots of coffee, and asked that he keep an eye on that. Out came a complimentary carafe of coffee. Thank you Kevin! We also were given a complimentary appetizer — they were not very busy, and it was New Year’s Day. That was a nice touch that was very much appreciated. The lobster bisque with the shot of sherry on the side was fantastic, and I was sorry I didn’t order it. But, I was very happy with my lobster roll and butternut squash on the side, and we all loved the desserts too. The canolli pie and key lime pie were delicious, but that salted caramel cream puff is the stuff of dreams ;-). I hope they have it the next time I go back — yum! Can’t wait to go back — you should try out ROCFish too!

I’ve heard many times that this is the best place for seafood in Rochester. That may or may not be true, but if you’ve ever lived on any coast, anywhere, don’t waste your time. Positives: –Friendly, attentive service –Yummy caramel apple pie dessert Negatives: –Pretty much every thing else I ordered one of the evening’s specials. $ 29 here gets you a measly three very overcooked scallops, served atop a pile of asparagus spears of varying size and doneness and mediocre mashed potatoes. Poured over this haphazardly arranged mess was a lemon dill sauce that tasted more or less fine(nothing to write home about, but not offensive either)… However, it had no business being served on mashed potatoes. Lemon dill mashed potatoes, guys? Seriously??? The bigger problem, though, was this seafood restaurant’s apparent inability to correctly cook seafood — because before my disappointing entrée, I had ordered a cup of the crab and lobster bisque in which the seafood was ALSO incredibly overcooked. It was straight up tough and chewy — NEVER a desirable consistency. Aside from that, I found the bisque too thick and too«seasoned» — I could hardly taste the seafood in it all, honestly. Find yourself some chefs from New England(or another coastal region) who know how to deal with the delicate flavors and textures of seafood, Crab Shack, and then I might try you again. Short of that, I highly doubt I’ll be back despite the excellent service.

I always know I can count on The Original Crab Shack for a decent meal. The oysters we had were fresh and briny — would have been nice to be served with a side of horseradish, instead of having to ask for it. The crab & artichoke dip was OK — not a lot of flavor, and can’t say it’s something I would order again. The fried pickles, on the other hand, were TASTY. Not a ton of breading(light tempura batter) with a spicy dipping sauce that was great! The Alaskan Crab legs were delightful — a nice sized portion that was more than enough for me to eat. The mashed potatoes were a bit cold, and I was disappointed that the cheddar cheese was haphazardly tossed on top and wasn’t melted in. My colleagues had: the fish tacos(loved them) and the snow crab & clam combo(tasty). We were thankful for the bottle of water on the table, and for the lemons & washcloths after eating shellfish!
