I stopped in here on a whim on my way to work, and am glad I did. I got a breakfast sandwich to go, and was surprised at how fast they got it done. Not as fast as a chain place, but they use actual eggs and whatnot. There was only 2 people working, the cool and the girl serving people, both of which were really nice. The clientele here(at least when I was there) was something straight out of a tv show. You had your cop that’s on break, the regular that’s always there talking about life with the worker girl, and the two older men bickering(in a friendly way) about something or other. It was a pretty comfortable, relaxing place. It’s pretty hard to miss though if you’re just driving by and not looking for it. Only reason I knew about it is because I bike by it at least once a week. They do have free wifi though, the prices are super reasonable, and the good was good. Only reason I gave it four stars is the parking situation. They don’t have a lot, and area in front of it is a no parking zone during the weekday hours that they’re open.

I didn’t know any places that served breakfast downtown on Saturday, so I was happy to find Chestnut Café. Even happier when it turned out to have good good, good service, pleasant atmosphere, and low prices. Coffee was good for diner coffee(we went to Fuego afterwards for espresso, cause i am a coffee snob). My omelette was tasty, and the home fries were excellent and not at all greasy. Service was friendly, as were the other patrons. And our total for 2 people was under $ 15! The restaurant is in the same building as Garth Fagan Dance Studio and Downtown Fitness, and it looks like they get kids and parents on their way to/from dance class, and maybe some fitness club people. A great find downtown! They also have free wifi and some connected rooms good for larger groups. We walked, but I expect parking nearby is no problem on weekends.
