great deli and lunch place. The soups are usually pretty good but if you go, try something off the hot bar. My favorite is the greens and beans. An excellent lunch at a great price

Ciaccia Importers is one of many Italian delis in the Lyell Ave area and over the last few years that I’ve worked in the area, I’ve made multiple trips for lunch. There is a small subset of items that they do well and a bunch of others that are just not good at all. The good: imported Italian meat subs are decent but skimp on the quantity of meats, cold salads and soups are solid, decent prices and relatively quick service even when they are busy during the lunch rush The bad: their«focaccia» bread is one of the worst pre-packaged excuses for focaccia I’ve ever had, they use pre-purchased salad dressings as sandwich toppers, their bread in general is nothing to write home about and the non imported meats are mediocre at best. The bottom line is that I won’t be headed back there for lunch since I have better and more interesting options in the general vicinity.

For what it is, it’s a pretty good shop. Basically, it’s a sub/lunch shop, AND a deli, as well as being an importer of Italian/Greek foods, kitchenware, soaps, etc. But, mostly, it’s a lunch stop. Located in a non-descript building on one of the grittier portions of Lee Rd.(right near Metallico scrap metal transfer and the City of Rochester garbage recieving buildings), they preidictably get a lot of working people(scrap and garbage trucks often stop on the street to pick up pre-ordered sandwiches), but the food, thanfully, is pretty good. They not only serve the predictable plain subs(not the greatest, but the price is good), but also serve a few ‘premium’ subs made with better, imported meats and cheeses. They also have a soup/pasta section, which includes even tripe! They also have a dining room, which really isn’t great, but if you want to eat in, it’s there. And, while you are waiting for your sandwich/pasta to be made up, take a look at the imported olives, pasta machines, Greek soaps, and bottled Italian sodas for sale.

Great local place. Decent subs. Small Italian market. Supposedly the best prices on deli meat. This place is the real deal.
