Disclaimer: My young daughter were huge fans of the original Nut House, which apparently was brought out by Grand Cru last year. One of our favorite pre-xmas traditions has was to go there and browse the selections for an hour or more in the cramped, cozy, homey, store that was wall-to-wall people in the week before the holiday. The new store is entirely different; it’s shiny, sleek, and clearly has a more high-end focus. They have some of the same traditional chocolates, nuts, truffles, and so on. But I miss the sheer variety of the original, which had everything from novelty chocolates for kids up to artisan level chocolates. Make no mistake – I like being able to purchase Theo/Endangered Species/etc locally, but I really miss the warmth and friendliness of the original. When we went today we were treated politely, but it was just like any other retail transaction. Much to our surprise, the store was also completely empty of customers other than ourselves two days before Xmas – that never happened before.

I am loving this place! Made my second trip there just to pick of their delicious nonpareils and Guinness Truffles. Gina, John, and Jess know their products! Also, make sure you check out their seasonal items: chocolate turkeys and Santa’s! This place is worth the trip out to Pittsford!

This place is INCREDIBLE! Sure, the only reason I know about it even existing is because of the amazing Unilocal event last week, but I am so glad that we had the chance to visit. Their selection of chocolates and candies is outstanding, and they have some far out options that can only be described as otherworldly. Maple bacon chocolate? YES! Chili and chocolate? YESPLEASE! Oh, and of course they have your standard options on top of their crazy flavor concoctions. Their prices are also fairly decent, which means I’ll be working out much harder now that I know this place exists. Oops.

Ótimo lugar! Grande variedade de chocolate. Boas opções para presentear. Eles têm um chocolate que parece uma pint de guiness e um chocolate quente maravilhoso. O único problema é o preço. É bom ir com grana.

The peanut butter truffle was delectable. I would highly suggest them for weddings and parties. They know what they are doing and can get you what ever you need! Who couldn’t use a little chocolate? Right?

I had my first experience at Grand Cru this evening while looking for something sweet following dinner at a nearby restaurant. First and foremost, the ambience of the shop was beautiful – so warm and cozy with a great layout. The one thing I noticed was how clean the shop was! It truly was kept immaculately. I had the pleasure of meeting both of the owners, Gina and John, who were simply delightful and obliging. They allowed me to sample a few unique and super fun treats and were able to answer all of my questions. Their stock of chocolates and other specialty items were pleasant looking and even more so, pleasant tasting! I didn’t come across one treat that wasn’t delicious. I walked out of the store with several purchases and will surely be back for more. I can’t wait to tell my friends and family about this gem. It’s also great for gifts as they have prepared baskets and a little gift wrapping area! So cute! Great find :).
