Great place for great salads! I’ve never had a bad experience at Half Moon. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. There are tons of awesome options on the menu for salads, so you can easily try something new each time or find a favorite and stick to it. My personal favorite is probably the strawberry fields. They recently started offering bowls with some kind of grain in them(such as quinoa) to cater to the crowd(like my brother) who wants something a bit heartier with more meat. Prices are reasonable, even if you add extra ingredients to your salad. Service is always fast and courteous. The employees are very friendly! I’ve always found the place to be very clean. All in all, a really nice spot to eat a quick lunch or grab great food on the go!

So your paying a premium here for them to chop up your salad making it easier to chew plus a host of ingredients you can customize for your salad. It is very pricey though compared to salads which are on the extreme value side of things like wegmans but they also have really really good cookies.

I really like Half Moon — it’s essentially Chipotle for salads. Build and customize your own salad. Every salad I have had from here has been very tasty and filling. My only complaint is price($ 10.80, incl. tax, for a salad that includes a small helping of chicken/protein). Given their(presumably) high rate of spoilage, they have to throw out/replace inventory more often than other restaurants. I get it. Still, if the price were a little bit lower, I would probably come more than once every week or every other week.

Great place for a good, healthy meal. The salad choices are endless, and everything is fresh. I eat here fairly often, and I have never been dissapointed.

high quality green fare in a quick, casual production-line style joint with a few small tables. Good choice if you want a good, custom salad with fresh and healthy ingredients.

This is by far my favorite fast-casual dining option in the area. The workers are always chipper and I’ve never been disappointed in their recommendations for my salads. The extra chopping allows for the ingredients to mix exceptionally well. Very accommodating to all dietary restrictions. Everyone should be eating lunch here.(I highly recommend the Southwest salad!)

One visit was enough for me. The lunch-time line was only 12 people deep and yet it took 20 minutes to get to the counter and order, and another 10 to get my 2 salads to go. Half Moon seems like a «fast food» spot that’s healthy, but it’s not fast at all. The salads were decent, but they weren’t worth $ 10 and they’re hardly«creative» as the business tagline suggests. Not only that, but today my order was wrong and I paid $ 10 for an $ 8 salad even though my order taker repeated the order back to me. I didn’t notice until I got home, and so my Chef Salad became some other thing with no chicken and no ham. Awesome. Lastly, how does a business only offer salads and a tiny bit of house-made croûton/bread? There are no other sides except for a couple of bags of chips and fountain drinks. Already thinking about what I’m going to eat in a few hours when I’m hungry again…

Would rate it worse if I could… this place is really terrible. first experience and I will never go back… line was about 12 people deep and it took 25 minutes just to get to the front of the line! Thats not acceptable anywhere. This is a wannabe fast casual restaurant… Rochester needs a real fast casual salad restaurant like Sweetgreen… The worse part about this place was quality, quality of service; long wait time and not friendly staff and the quality of product. The quinoa was gross the avocados already had oxidized, and the veggies were flat out disgusting. The concept is truly an amazing one but clearly has terrible management and leadership.

I absolutely love the salads here. If I don’t have time to bring my lunch with me to work this is where I usually end up. You can either build your own salad or pick one off the menu. I usually do a bit of both, starting with the Spinach Salad and adding some protein and other goodies, which doesn’t change the price, yay! The salads are huge and come with focaccia bread; I’ve never been left hungry. They also recently did a really nice renovation, updating the interior and seating area.

The staff was really patient with me as it was my first time going. It can be a bit overwhelming when you’re looking at the menu boards but the girl I was working with was really great about talking through it with me. Everything was beautifully fresh, the dressings weren’t over the top greasy or heavy at all and they didn’t overdress like a lot of places are wont to do. It was a generous portion and I struggled to eat all of it. The vibe of the place was nice but the only complaint I have is that the unfinished ceilings made it echo a lot so having a private conversation there is probably not the best idea.

The staff & management are fast, personable, and friendly. The food is also very consistent and delicious! This location is very convenient for me despite all of the nearby restaurants. There’s outdoor seating as well if you want to eat your fresh salad and absorb in the sun!

Half moon has updated their décor in the restaurant, as well as their menu, and I have to say I’m even more pleased than I was before. Although they eliminated tofu as a protein option, I wasn’t really satisfied with it before, so I’m not very sad to see it go, just wish they would have improved it instead. They still have plenty of toppings to choose from, they now have more creative sandwiches and salad suggestions, and best yet, they serve warm focaccia bread with each salad, it was delicious! I’ve been getting the Veggie Bowl or creating my own salad. And best yet, they don’t limit or charge more for additional toppings, they now have a list of all you can use toppings for $ 7 and another listing for $ 9. They also have quinoa as an option as a base for a salad, or as a topping, which I enjoy. I also haven’t had an issue with a line upon arrival like I used to in the past. Quick service.

This place got some pretty negative reviews on the original listing here on Unilocal, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Maybe I’ve just had better experiences, or I’m not that picky? I do know I’m very picky about the freshness and quality of my veggies, and I’ve never had anything close to a problem at Half Moon. Yes, it’s on the expensive side for raw veggies. And yes, sometimes the service is s-l-o-w and you have to endure the staff gossiping about their lives while they prepare your salad(I can forgive this as I’m sure I did the very same thing while working Wegmans as a teenager). But where else can I get such a healthy and filling meal in under ten minutes? I live close, so Half Moon is a frequent destination for me when I’ve had an exhausting day and have zero desire to cook but want to be healthy. I usually end up creating my own salad with a mix of Boston lettuce and spring mix(I ask if I can split my lettuce into two options and they always oblige) with my four mix-ins of carrots, sprouts, broccoli and bell pepper. If I’m extra ravenous, I’ll usually opt for the cajun chicken(~$ 2 extra). I always ask for«light dressing» as I hate a wet salad. They give you a few pieces of pita to go with it, and for my salad plus chicken and a perrier(I can never resist when I’m in there for some reason), my bill is usually around $ 11. Yeah, it’s expensive, and yeah, it totally sucks that they got rid of their half and full head salad size options, but I’m always amazed at how freaking filling the salad is! When I get home, I usually pile in on a plate, and am always struggling to finish it. That makes it’s worth the price for me. It’s nothing amazingly special, and I agree with others: skip the soup. It’s tasty, but insanely expensive for the small serving you get. Stick with the salads, and you should be good to go. A fine, healthy option for a quick meal.
