Usually I frequent this place quite often because I work down the street but, after today I won’t be back. I got the soup of the week, poblano corn chowder(advertised as corn, poblano peppers, onion & celery in a veggie base). I opened it and it looked like they had crumbled crackers over the top, whatever, I tried it and I realized it was curdled sour cream. It was disgusting. I have a sensitivity to dairy, and curdled dairy at that? Blech, I felt nauseous. I called to see if I could return it & was told that that would be fine. I went to return it & the counter girl said she would have to ask the owner. She came back trying to offer me a different soup or the corn chowder w/o sour cream on it(I’m assuming the owner told her to do this). I told her I didn’t want anything because I felt sick, I just wanted a refund. Again, she had to go ask the owner. This is when I started getting annoyed. I eventually got my money back without another word from her. But that’s not what bothered me, it wasn’t her fault. A few things annoyed me about this whole experience: 1. Why would you add a completely random ingredient, not included in the description, to an item? And adding cold sour cream to hot soup nonetheless? Anyone who cooks knows that this is a no-no. 2. I called ahead to see if it was ok to return it for a reason; I’m at work and don’t want to stand around for 10 mins waiting to see if it’s okay. 3. I felt very much like an annoyance. The owner never showed his/her face once, I had to speak through an employee. This soup made me physically ill and I couldn’t even get a «sorry about that» or something? All in all, its not a great idea to add things to a menu item without making the customer aware. It is also not awesome to make your customers feel like a burden for not enjoying your food. I have never seen any other South Wedge business treat anyone like this. Looks like my offices 4x-a-week-visits will be cut down to 0.

We came here early on Sunday, the cashier suggested the chicken florentine and philly cheese steak sandwiches. The chicken florentine had so much flavor, it tasted like a spinach artichoke dip with tomatoes and chicken. The philly cheese steak was okay, it was missing something but I can’t figure it out. I’ll definitely be back to try other sandwiches here.

This place has some of the best sandwichs I have had in Rochester. They also have large cookies and cheese cake from cheesy eddies. They recently added a bar which makes this place even cooler.

I usually really like this place. But this last time I had my order screwed up. I was very nice and just asked for a new one. However the blonde women is… maybe part owner was extremly rude with me. I explained that I would just like it remade and it wasn’t a big deal… attitude… I work in fast food I understand. But when I simply and nicely would like it replaced and I’m told… «There is 5 slices of cheese… if they’re wasn’t, would it stick together?(As she holds up a piece of steak, its held together by its self and by the onions)…» «I watched them put cheese on it» she wasnt even there because no know could find someone to help with the gift card… or «we always read everything back and she asked you if their was no onions. I have the ticket right here…» with an attitude. They need to work on their customer service skills… I even called a head and explained it and they didn’t even have it ready. They made it seem like it was my fault. It wasn’t a big deal until they became rude and treated me like a liar… this is not how you treat customers even if they are wrong.

A delicious, realistic, New York style sub. I had the chicken cutlet sandwich, it took me back to my Long Island childhood. My friend had the pastrami on rye and it was great as well. The service was great, very welcoming. And their new expansion and liquor license is an exciting touch.

Harry G’s steak sandwiches are great and reasonably priced, their breakfast sandwiches, however, are a different story. I have heard great things about the hungry man breakfast sandwich from my friends so I had to try it. So I went in and looked at the menu, I quickly found the hungry man and saw that it was almost $ 8. I said to myself«It is an expensive sandwich, but it has so much on it!» 4 eggs(which I think has now be changed to 3), bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns and cheese. So I ordered it on an everything bagel and sat down at my table. After a while they brought out my sandwich and It looked and smelled very good. I was so hungry I took a bite and only after that did I realize my sandwich was lacking. Best I could tell, I only got 2 eggs, 1 slice of ham, 1 hash brown, and 1 slice of cheese. I was going to go up and ask for it to be remade but there was a long line at the register so I ate my hungry man and left a still hungry man. I told my friends of my experience and they told me that it was just a fluke and that I had messed up! How could I have gotten it on a bagel?! So I was convinced into going back. This time I ordered the hungry man on a roll and it came with everything that it was advertised to have just in very small quantities. The sandwich needed more cheese and the bread that they used tasted stale to me. For an $ 8 breakfast sandwich, I was expecting much, much more. If and when I do ever go back to Harry G’s, I will be getting one of their steak sandwiches which are very good. The whole hungry man experience has turned me off the whole place though.

The woman that owns the deli could not have been nicer. The only thing more inviting than her attitude was the food. Best sub I’ve had in a while and great service, highly recommend!

Excellent, excellent, excellent all around! I came home early from work and realized I had nothing hot I could easily put together for lunch. I was craving a Reuben sandwich but wasn’t sure where the best place was to go in the city for one so did a quick search and Harry G’s popped up. I called in my order just before leaving my house in the NOTA neighborhood and not more than 2 minutes after walking into Harry G’s, my order was ready. It was an easy transaction with super friendly service. Now the test. How good is their Reuben after all. The ride home felt like forever and I just couldn’t wait to try my sandwich. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a really good Reuben. Got home and saw the size and thought, there’s no way I’ll be able to eat the whole thing but I did. I bit in and was in heaven. The corn beef was amazing! It was perfectly sliced and crumbled here and there which was good with me. No fat in the meat, just pure goodness. The sandwich kept good and warm for my ride home and the rye bread was equally fantastic. Perfectly grilled and soft at the same time. I know now where to go for my next Reuben sandwich. Thanks Harry G’s!

Delicious food and great prices! I ordered the Clem and it was the best chicken sandwich I’ve had. My son also loved the chalkboard to play on at the table. We will be back.

Came here with my wife, was expecting a mediocre south ave restaurant. I was sadly mistaken. I got the turkey rube. It’s was glorious. Crafted by the sandwich gods them self’s. Not to mention the buffalo fiz soda birch beer. Amazing. I will definitely be a returning customer.

This is a great Southwedge neighborhood deli. They have an extensive menu of cold and hot subs– both classics and unique spins. I have ventured through some menu items and have never been disappointed. Pricing is on point for a sub in my opinion. This is a really great option if you’re looking for a quick meal on the go for lunch or dinner. I usually take my sandwich to go, but there are tables for eating in as well. The restaurant is kept immaculately clean and service is always fast and pleasant.

I was with a sports team playing at Rochester. Harry Gs was able to accommodate our large team! The girls loved their subs and salads. Each item was labeled and accurate! I spoke to the owner on the phone multiple times and she was really understanding and very helpful! I would definitely recommend this place. PS: the rolls tasted awesome!!!

There’s no better sandwich place in Rochester. I’d recommend the Clem sandwich, the 490, or the Lope. The bread is fantastic, the sandwiches are packed to the gills, and you won’t leave this place hungry. The best part is you can modify any sandwich and they’ll make it for you. Harry G’s is the bees knees.

Crafting a perfect philly cheesesteak is an artform, and one that Harry G’s nails. They had a perfect blend of flavors with an equally excellent choice of bread. The onion rings were crunchy and not overly greasy. Plenty of seating if you wish to eat there, and our order was ready in ten minutes if you’re looking for take out. I know we will definitely be back!

Excellent sandwiches! We’ve been here numerous times and always get the same thing. Split a hungry man breakfast sandwich and a Pittsburg. They are kind enough to split them for us– nice extra touch. Both are five star worthy. Location is great and the interior is welcoming and cozy. Just wish they were open earlier, I’d totally stop by in the mornings before work!

I didn’t realize what I was getting into when I ordered a whole sandwich(the 390). My friend’s came first — it was about six inches long — and it turned out that she had ordered a HALF sandwich. Look at me ordering lunch and dinner in one go! My mistake for not realizing the inside of the 390 was drenched in hit sauce. Still enjoyed it though. Fries here are cooked to perfection. Great service too! A little pricey for a sandwich, but I guess the size justifies it

Was in the area and stopped in to get some lunch for me and my husband. I had a traditional BLT on toasted sourdough which was good — I asked for no mayo and it was made as I requested. I got the soup of the day which was«Toast Soup» which was good, a little salty — Creamy — Bacon, Dijon mustard, Sourdough bread used for thickening I believe. Soup prices very reasonable — less than $ 5 for a large. I got my husband a whole Philly cheese steak with extra provolone cheese and it was huge and very tasty. The bread is fresh, chewy and great flavor on the meat. I got the Greek fries which were a special — Greek herbs with Greek yogurt dipping sauce. The fries were average — loved the dipping sauce which I actually ended up putting on my BLT. I didn’t try any deserts but they looked tasty. Staff was very friendly, fast and patient. Looks like they have a busy regular lunch crowd but clean and organized.

I went to this place once sometime last year. Starving and craving a sub. As soon as we walked in, the gentleman at the counter said they were out of bread. My first impression was horrible, I left bummed, empty handed and still starving. I didn’t go back to this place for at least a whole year till recently. This time around I had a good feeling. I walked in, no one was in there besides one small group of people sitting quietly to themselves. I was greeted a lady behind the counter and ordered a few seconds later. I went for The Philly Cheesesteak(I was really craving one for some reason). Within 5 minutes or so it was ready and I was on my way out the door headed home. The cheesesteak was delicious ! I didn’t care much for the bread, but the steak itself was on point. I will for sure be back to try some of the other delicious subs/sandwiches in the future, even though I am forever a Dibella’s girl.

We got a large Clem and split it. It was love at first bite for me. Buh bye DiBellas. The Clem has a breaded chicken cutlet, BLT, melted mozz, mayo and a garlic spread. The roll was perfect for me and I very much dislike bread! Price was kinda steep at $ 9.99 but I don’t mind paying for quality food. Excited to try some new sandwiches in my favorite part of town :)

… I can’t properly express/verbalize/write my love for Harry G’s. I asked where I could find pastrami in ROC and a co-worker recommended here. Came here on a Saturday afternoon, and the angels sang when I opened the door. Pastrami, spicy mustard, fresh, soft rye bread. Simple perfection. I’m sure the other pastrami/corned beef sammies are good too, but I’m traditional and can’t really deviate from the classic. I’ve also had the Park Ave which is turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, with a delicious and sweet basil mayo on one of their crazy-outta-this-world soft and chewy rolls. *_* Didn’t realize they served breakfast, but I wished that I ordered it! Dunno if I would live after consuming it though. The boy got some sort of a bfast sandwich(forgot the name) I’ve just been calling it ‘the Monster,’ because it was four eggs, bacon, two hashbrowns, American cheese, on a sub roll. Managed to sneak a bite and holey-moley was it good. You should win a t-shirt if you’re able to eat this thing in its entirety, it’s huge, Rochester, /huge/. Portion size, outta control and I’m okay w/that. Delicious. New favorite place. Will be haunting it more often.
