Very tasty and very neat atmosphere! The name explains itself, a completely renovated old fashioned fire house! Came here a while ago and the food was decent, had a delicious aroma, and filled me up quickly :) it’s a fairly large restaurant so I’ve never had issues with waiting. Also the location is well placed, right by Ontario beach and if you were to go out with some friends to the Pelicans Nest down the road then come here after for some proper grub.

This place is fun. Located in a converted firehouse, the theme is, well,…firehouse. Decorated with photos and firemen’s memorabilia, the room has a fun vibe. Because it was s firehouse, the ceilings are high, and this leads to a busy, bustling feel. The menu is divided into five sections, called«alarms». Isn’t that cute? They are: appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, pizzas made in a brick oven, and entrées. The selection is solid pub style food, nicely made and presented. Slightly disappointing was the limited selection of salad dressings, and the vinaigrette tasted like it was straight from a bottle. There is an impressive selection of beer by the bottle, and also a dozen or so draft beers, which are available and pints, or in «tastings». The beer flights are fun and priced right. Also available are wine flights. Service was friendly, and prompt. The waitress was attentive. The place is full of people having a good time, and enjoying solid pub food. Parking is ample. I’ve been here many times in the past, and intend on returning. I like it here.

Great atmosphere, excellent service, very good food. They are incredibly accommodating with food allergies, and I love that they change their menu seasonally.

A really cool spot, but unfortunately the food sucks. The worst burger I’ve ever had. Just no flavor at all. Ate 2 bites and was done. Would recommend this place only for drinks.

Honestly the food was VERY good but the service was excellent!!! We had Anna and Sam and they were absolutely wonderful! Some of my favorite servers in Rochester! They were warm, prompt, and a joy! I would recommend them and Hose 22 completely!!!

Food and service was good, nice old building with exposed brick walls and high ceilings. One of our orders was wrong, but was quickly accommodated for. It’s a nice location and during the warmer weather right next to the beach and charlotte pier. We’ll definitely be going again.

AWESOME Choice. We cannot be happier with our choice of Hose 22 to host the end of season team/parent dinner. We were a large group(80) and had the downstairs room. We had a variety of pizzas, macaroni and cheese, three different chicken skewers and salad. The food was great and many commented that it was the best to date in regards to food quality. There was a large selection of beer choices(other items as well) and all were very reasonably priced. You can’t go wrong checking out Hose 22. You will be happy you did.(very cool building as well)

Very bad experience! I have had the prime rib special before cooked to my specifications, medium-well. Well, they couldn’t get it right the night we had dinner there which was very disappointing. I had sent it back and the outside was charred and inside rare! It’s not freaking rocket science to cook a prime rib to the customers specifications! I had to pick at it and could barely eat half. The manager took off half because she thought that was fair. Guess what Kelly, you suck and so does your cook!

I dine here about once every other month. My meal is always delicious and hot. There were a few times where I was disappointed because they like to tweek the menu. They will change things that should be left alone… Service is a bit off sometimes. I’ve learned to ask for certain waitresses/waiters that I’ve liked in the past. I didn’t give this a 5 star review because for the menu prices I believe the waitstaff should be in something other than tank tops, shorts and not professional looking. Maybe a top with the Hose 22 Logo on it? My opinion… I like it for the food and architecture. The owners did an amazing job renovating this beautiful firehouse.

I’ve been here many times since they’ve opened — family lives a very short walking distance. My first visit, I ordered a hamburger. Hamburgers are everywhere, especially in Rochester. As I’ve said in other reviews, Rochester is a small mecca for hamburgers. However, this hamburger was worth telling others about. The burger was cooked medium rare, the bun from a local bakery and the round were fresh. The tomato slice was thick, the lettuce was leafy green, and the onion deep purple. The proverbial icing on the cake was the house cut french fries. The fries are salty addictive-ness. Edit: got a hamburger this past weekend and they’ve changed their hamburger rolls. I looked the original bunds better. This new bun is like a Bill Gray’s or Wahl’s style. The women in my family always get their wine slushies — berry or peach mango flavor. Other family members favorites are the ribs, Mac and cheese, and salads. The outside seating is nice and relaxing with café style table and chairs surrounding a gas fire pit.

This was our 2nd visit & my opinion hasn’t changed. It’s an OK place but I’ve had better food other places. It’s kind of a neat décor. The restaurant is housed in a refurbished fire house with loads of antique apparatus, pictures & firemen’s uniforms. Nice! However, once again my food was bland! My mushroom, bacon cheeseburger was tasteless(over cooked) & served with no imagination. Be aware that I am no gourmand, I eat almost anything with little complaint. I did like the fries. My wife liked her mac & cheese but I was disappointed again. Service was good, though it was noisy. Bottom line this place is just OK, price is reasonable but there are so many other places to get a good burger I can’t see myself coming back for a 3rd time.

Great atmosphere! Refurbished firehouse with fun memorabilia. Food? Overpriced, over seasoned and over cooked. Everything is spicy with onions garlic and seasoned salt. I enjoy spicy food but a summer salad($ 16) doesn’t need grilled onions in it. Strange and took away from the berries and chicken. Reuben was burned and so dark that a fork and knife were used, instead of teeth. They now serve Cheesy Eddies desserts. Carrot Cake, Cheesecake($ 6). Great quality and flavor. Slices were on the small side. Certainly worth a trip but maybe just once a year!

I live in the area of this restaurant and have eaten here several times. I find the food to be good for the price and the service has always been exactly as I would expect. I wouldn’t join the other reviewers in what they have experienced with regard to the food quality. Sometimes I feel people get stuck on the food they receive and then totally discount the importance of atmosphere. I personally find the food together with the atmosphere of this place absolutely awesome which is what brings me back. I’m sure if you come with an open mind you’ll find this place just as delightful.

Were it not for the unfortunate exchange with the waitress at the close of our meal, we would have rated it higher. We brought our two young kids for lunch one sunny Saturday. Hose 22 has a pretty standard kid’s menu, stating all meals are served with a side and drink. Perfect. However, both kids wanted pasta, and the side choices(French fries, sweet potato fries, coleslaw) don’t jibe with pasta, so we asked if they could do a veggie. The waitress checked, then returned with a yes, can do. So we ordered. The food was good. My turkey burger was quite tasty. The veggies they brought for the kids looked great. Small bowls of broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, and red pepper. We finished up and the waitress dropped the check. It was then we noticed we had been charged an additional $ 2 per child for the vegetables. I called the waitress back, pointing out on the children’s menu the line that says«comes with a side», and snidely she replied, «well, vegetables are a DINNER side, so they don’t count,» and off she went. Never once did she mention the extra charge beforehand. And really, is broccoli so much harder to make that it warrants such a charge? Is it that much more expensive than sweet potato fries? So, husband took $ 4 off her tip. We won’t be back.

Horrible food. We met my in-laws for dinner at this place. Party of four and we got 3 burgers and 1 salad. All were horrible. One worse than the other. I got the Tuna salad, and couldn’t even finish it. Didn’t touch the tuna. It looked old and dry. How do you mess up a burger. Everyone at the table was disappointed. I’m sure Rochester has better restaurants. Try them and don’t wasted your time with this one.

Always a cool place to go to. A retired fire house with a huge theme of fire fighter items. I never been down stairs it upstairs in the restuant. Always has meals in the main floor. The food is pretty good. I don’t go often due to always long waits but got in right away. The menus seems to change a little. The last 3 times I have been it seems diffrent. But the food is good. It’s an enjoyable place to eat.

The Good: The building(an old firehouse) is really cool and has a lot of fireman inspired décor. The old doors also open up onto a small patio with tables, which is perfect in the summer. The Bad: This is one of those we have something for everyone places. I got the impression that meant some items were a lot better than others. Times I’ve Gone: Only Once I Ordered: Fish Fry, thought it was one of the better ones I’ve had in town

Hose 22 is best described as a townie bar/restaurant that serves mostly decent food. The food consists of well priced American staples(burgers, sandwiches, wings) and more expensive but standard entrees(salmon, pasta, steak, etc served with 2 sides of your choice). I was told that they have a decent beer selection as well. They also carry what must be a specialty in Rochester — wine slushies. My friend and I split the Mediterranean salad, a side of fried pickles and smoked wings(requested well done in hopes of crispy chicken skin). The salad was ok. I have never seen a cucumber sliced into strips quite that thin and it ended up losing its crunch. The lettuce mix was mostly spring greens. The roasted red peppers were tasty. I did not like the wings at all. The skin was so floppy and soft that I started peeling it off before eating the wing. That’s right — I voluntarily threw away chicken skin! The dry rub was far too sweet for me. My friend(who loves Country Sweet wings) really enjoyed the flavour. If you like your wings crispy, I would skip ordering them here. The fried pickles were what the abomination known as Guy Fieri would describe as money — the ratio of thin pickles to batter kept it crisp. Unfortunately the bottom layer was soaked in oil because they didn’t put lettuce or something else under to catch it. I got to sample the sweet potato wedges and french fries from other friends. The sweet potato wedges were far superior to the french fries. I appreciated that they didn’t cover it in cinnamon or brown sugar so I could still taste the actual sweet potato. The fire pit outside is a nice touch for patio dining. I recommend requesting outdoor seating during our 3 weeks of summer. Our server was very friendly and responsive — waters were always filled and she checked up on us often. Since I don’t live in Greece, I am unlikely to return. Given the absolute dearth of good restaurants in Charlotte, this is not the worst choice in the area. Stick to the sandwiches/burgers/fried pickles and you will be content.
