Macarollin

Big wheel keep on turning, MacRollin’ keeps on Mackin! If, like me, you’re absolutely put off by «Mall» food then you have to give them a try. As Fox E. might put it, I wouldn’t put it their pasta past ya if I had the chance. Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese Effin’ rules!

I’ll be honest. I was a bit underwhelmed by our visit to Macarollin in Marketplace. And that might be the reason right there. It was the Food Court. Maybe my expectations were too high. I’m betting that the mac and cheese on the truck might be better. I should have stuck with plain mac and cheese, because after all, that’s what they’re supposed to do best. I’ll give the truck a try, and hope I was right. Unless the food is terrible (it wasn’t) or the service was really bad (it wasn’t), I don’t give really bad reviews. Every place is worth at least two tries, so we’ll be trying Macarollin another shot one day. Until then, it’s on the «We’ll get back to you» list.

Do you remember the commercial where the elderly woman asked, «Where’s the beef?» Well, we ate at the Henrietta Macarollin this evening and I wanted to ask, «Where’s the cheese?» I like a rich, creamy sauce and this didn’t have it. I ordered the lobster Mac ‘n Cheese and ate only one bite of the lobster. It was inedible and tasted like it had been sitting out at room temperature all day. I also didn’t care for the sweet sauce on the bottom of the dish. Maybe the food truck has better tasting food and I’ll give them a try, but I don’t think I’ll chance the Marketplace location again.

Had an amazon local deal and had been waiting a while to check out the food truck but ended up at Marketplace Mall location this evening. The front counter Service could easily be a ¹⁄₅. As we walked in the mall the front counter employee was just leaning across the counter, yawning — They had no line and really she made it look really uninviting. Never greeted up when we came up to the counter at all. Never heard a thank you, no smile.
I had the Hometown Mac n Cheese which had cut hot dog, hash browns and meat sauce over mac n cheese. The hot dogs were good but not «crispy» as stated — they barely tasted warm. I liked the meat sauce flavor. The cheese sauce on the mac n cheese I found to be lacking in flavor — but overall it was okay.
My husband had the Buffalo chicken mac n cheese with mild hot sauce, blue cheese, chicken pieces — it was okay, more flavor than my cheese sauce. The blue cheese was a little overpowering — but tied into the buffalo chicken flavor.
I think the portion size is decent for the approx. $ 8 charge, the mac n cheese is okay for a quick lunch/​dinner idea but the service was seriously lacking and made me not want to return. I would like to try some of their other types but wouldn’t come back to this location, likely will go to food truck instead.

I’ve always been impressed with the Macarollin’ food truck, and I’m glad they finally opened up a (couple of) brick and mortar locations. The location within Marketplace Mall is what it is — it’s in the food court, there is plenty of seating, it can get fairly crowded and loud at the typical dinner hours (especially on the weekend), but they can’t really control that. The food itself is amazing — their macaroni is super tasty and all their various options will be familiar to those who have been to the food truck. The Philly Cheese Steak is my personal favorite, though many clamor for the Lobster Mac & Cheese, both are quite good. The portions are also pretty good sized, it really makes the meal a good value, especially for the quality of the ingredients. Kraft Mac & Cheese this is not. One thing that would be nice — a fountain drink machine of some kind, or at least free water. Right now, they just have bottled drinks, including bottled water.

Great mac n cheese, a little pricey but this is bc they have very high quality ingredients. Best mac n cheese around hands down!
